fast start fast to shutdown,very good for entertainment. the only complain i have

is that the battery con not be replaced. i would recomend it for friendes, i just got one for

my dauter.

Acer Aspire V3-571-9890 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

We live out in the sticks, and when we finally got reliable 3G broadband and a wireless network set up, I was ready to no longer share the 2 year old computer with the rest of the family and get a laptop of my own. I use this laptop mainly for my home office: word processing, spreadsheets, internet, photo editing, and a few specific programs. I've found this unit to be a very reasonable tool for these functions.

This laptop is lightning fast, has plenty of memory, decent graphics/sound, and seems well constructed. I've read a couple of reviews that mention slow start ups, but I have not found this to be the case. I agree that Windows 8 has a pretty big learning curve for the first few days ("intuitive", my left foot!), but after some initial frustration I was able to navigate through the program screens rather easily. I find I still favor the "classic" laptop homescreen, but since Win 8 is app driven, that may be part of why you can have so many screens/tiles open and working with no speed lag. I also really like that the function shortcuts are printed on the keys in blue so I'm not constantly looking them up until I memorize them. I am not a fan of touchpads, so I like being able to quickly disable it with just a keystroke and turn on my wireless mouse instead. Bluetooth connected to all my other devices (wireless speaker, wireless headphones, my Droid X) without missing a beat. Again, noticed no loss of speed or data with multiple connections active.

Just a couple of things that bug me:

1. The CD drive is pretty flimsy. The first time I inserted a DVD to try out the graphics, the DVD did not stay in the tray.

When I pushed the tray into the laptop, the DVD floated up and lodged in the housing above the drive. Fortunately, I was

able to fish the DVD out using a piece of padding and some tweezers without damaging the laptop or the disk.

2. There is no caps lock/number lock indicator light. Sounds like a small thing...until you want to do a lot of word processing.

This kind of drives me crazy.

3. Not a big fan of the shiny piano case finish on the exterior and around the screen. Fingerprint city! I am always wiping

the thing off so I don't look like a slob.

4. There are no programs loaded onto the laptop "as is" that are not internet driven. I kind of enjoyed having a few games and

goodies on the old Windows formats that were available to play offline. Bye, bye solitaire.

Admittedly, the above list are small things that I like to grouse about, but they would not be enough alone to keep me from making this purchase again. I still think this is a good machine for the money.

I bought this laptop so that I could get work done around the house instead of being chained to my desktop. I'm a software developer, so I often run virtual machines of the platforms I'm developing for. Everything runs fast and smooth. I've even played some game on this laptop, and they run great. The keyboard is extremely easy to type on. The laptop stays a very comfortable temperature, even after hours of use and while gaming. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Acer is an often forgotten brand of laptop, however I have owned and used HPs, Dells, Toshibas, and Asus and Acer tops them all. This computer has the best touchpad, a decent keyboard, good screen, and excellent sound quality. It is fast and will process nearly all programs with speed. Great buy.

This is a good computer. I'm using it as a desktop, so I use an external keyboard and a 24" viewsonic monitor. Also have a USB3 hub and external HD. The only thing (besides getting Win8 figured out) I didn't care for was the preinstalled software from ACER. No prob, really I just uninstalled it all .

I got a defective one with dead pixels and had to return. Acer customer service was useless but Amazon took it back no questions asked and with a smile. Bravo Amazon customer service.

The screen was too dull even at max brightness. This is due to the matte screen which does eliminate glare so if glare is a really big deal for you, then this might the one. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Just isn't a pleasant viewing experience.

I had been looking for a laptop with windows 7, and unfortunately all available laptops in market are now windows 8, which in my experience is a slow operating system and I personally do not like the way it operates. Found this brand new ASUS laptop online with windows 7 and intel i3 processor which works great so far. Its very fast with LED display. Battery last me at least 4 HOURS (actively working on it) which I am very happy about. The only minor issue I have with this design is that you have to press function key and then press another volume key in order to increase or decrease the speaker sound. I recommend ASUS to add a simply volume control button on the laptop (for example like HP laptop) and it will be very convenience for the user; however this does not change my rating for this laptop. Overall I highly recommend this product if you can find one with windows 7. Thank you...........

I received this laptop for work and was expecting it to be fast given the processor speed and the 4GB of RAM. So far, I have been disappointed in the speed of this machine. I find that it freezes when I just have one Excel spreadsheet open. This happened to me on multiple occassions since I received the laptop, but not all the time. It seems that it freezes randomly.

I would normally suspect something new with the machine that is causing the problem, since I upgraded from a lesser machine recently. For example, maybe it's Windows 7 Professsional or Office 2007. This is not the case since I had the exact same operating system and applications on my previous laptop.

On a positive note, I really like the integrated mouse features, as you can customize them however you like. Some of the great features are: ability to zoom using gestures similar to Apple's iPhone, fast scrolling, button customization, and more.

The description provided by Amazon is very scant, however the manufacturer model number (2516AEU) can be browsed in Lenovo webpage for a full description. Please note that the installed RAM is 1 x 2 GB instead of the 3 GB originally indicated in the Amazon description (now corrected), however, Lenovo webpage provides the right specifications. This particular model has everything I was looking for, except the fingerprint reader. Other than that this is a great laptop and its construction quality cannot be disputed. The laptop is not light, specially with the 9 cell battery it comes with, but feels very solid and ready to work anywhere. If you are a Lenovo or Thinkpad former user (as I am) you will NOT be dissapointed, this is a great laptop at a fantastic price.

UPDATE (October 17th) Over the weekend I discovered that the bluetooth module is not working. I already tried to uninstall it and install it again, also reloaded the driver but no success. I still have to chat with Lenovo technicians on Monday to solve the problem (no way!!! worst customer service).

UPDATE (October 22nd) This laptop has a physical switch to turn on/off the wireless radios, but it also has a utility to allow user to switch on/off bluetooth and wireless network radios independently. My bluetooth radio was simply turned off, easily solved but took me several days to discover. Now, the Power Management can be annoying since it can turn off several devices, but it is a configuration issue. Very happy with this machine.

WARNING (November 8th) I purchase this laptop directly from Amazon LLC and got a great product. For a reason I don't understand the picture was changed for the picture of a different laptop (a Thinkpad Edge instead of a T410), so be careful if you order it because NOW there is a conflict between the description/specs and the picture. Also the seller is not Amazon LLC anymore but a different vendor.

I've been using Lenovo T410 for last 2 weeks and I'm pretty pleased with overall machine.

Keys have high action and sometimes I miss the key press. Maybe it's just me.

Display port instead of an HDMI

Comes with boatload of Lenovo software. In someways enhances Win7 but in someways it cripples it. Idle memory usage right after starting first few times was around 2GB

The camera is very narrow view.

Is still ugly

Multi-touch touchpad is tricky and not responsive at times. Needs better drivers.

Dynamic contrast control has some bug. On battery the screen would sometimes dim for few seconds. Fixed it by running all power options in full performance mode.

Overall impression:

Happy so far with the performance and value. Highly recommended for someone looking for best of size and power. There is some getting used to the keyboard though.

This laptop is powerful and fast. It gets a 5.0 Rating in Windows 7 the graphics being the limiting factor. It has the 9 cell battery, and the mouse nub. The only downside is that Amazon's description does not do it justice.

I bought a Dell E3400 and found the fan noise was too loud and didn't like the 16:9 screen, I returned it and got a Fijitsu 12.1 tablet instead and found the screen is too small for me and then I returned it. At last, found a good deal of T410 and bought one. Can't be happier. The build quality is good and much much better than E3400, a perfect all purpose laptop. I ordered 1280x800 rather than 1440x900, I think I made the right choice, 1440x900 on a 14" screen will make things too small to view. The fan noise is good, it's not completely quite but you can bearly hear anything especially when it's running on baterry. The littel LED lamp beside the camera makes the thing even better. The DVD drive vibrates a lot when running high speed, I dont' use DVD very often so don't mind it, if someone uses DVD a lot, should consider this.
