Toshiba Qosmio X875-Q7190 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black Widow Styling in Diamond-Textured Aluminum)

Toshiba Qosmio X875-Q7190 17.3-Inch LaptopLove this laptop, lots of cool and handy features, such as sleep & charge and sleep & music and runs all my programs fast and to a high quality.

The screen and sound quality is also amazing, I have yet to need to use the sound output above 50%, just to show how loud the sound can go!

One issue I have had so far is that during a relatively low graphically demanding game I get a black rectangle on the floor and I have yet to find a solution to correct this issue. If it wasn't for that problem (And the fact Windows is still not to the same level as Windows 7 in my opinion) I would probably have given the laptop a five star rating.

This was my 5th Toshiba Laptop between me and my family but will definitely be my last. Bought it customized from Toshiba Direct. It worked for about a month, and failed. They directed me to take it personally to their authorized service center for fastest service. It sat for a month waiting for a part that didn't fix it and now they are waiting for a new hard drive that they estimate will take 6 WEEKS to deliver. When I called support they told me that it would be faster if I go pick it up and mail it back to them (with no commitment on what "faster" means). They offer no explanation of why it would take 6 weeks for a new hard-drive. Also the warranty continues to expire while the unit sits in their hands. (It is warranted from purchase date only)

I asked for my money back. After 2 weeks they come back with an offer of store credit to Toshiba Direct because they don't give refunds. They only want to credit the purchase price so I would need to eat about $200 in sales tax and shipping on the original and another $200 when I use my credit. They explained to me that this was a great favor as they were not depreciated the value of the computer for the one month that I was apparently honored to have it work for me.

So the only choice I get from Toshiba are take a credit and get another Toshiba craptop eating the shipping and tax charges 2 twice or wait until they fix the one I have with no guarantee of how long it will take while my warranty ticks away.

Here are some other fun facts they won't give me anything in writing about my options won't send me an email. You also can't send them emails. Strikes me a little odd a computer company won't take an email. Nothing in writing appears to be their policy.

Buy Toshiba Qosmio X875-Q7190 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black Widow Styling in Diamond-Textured Aluminum) Now

I am a super-geek. I want a laptop with a big screen, big memory capacity and the ability to have 2 hard drives. The memory capacity of this laptop is 32GB which is really nice! Also, you can have 2 hard drives in this baby! I think the memory on the video is 2GB? I'm sold. The only question left is how easy it it to install Windows 7/8 and have the drivers ready to go without hassle. Also It is very important how easy it is to upgrade the hardware on this model (increase memory, change hard drives). I'm still researching but if the answer to the questions I have are "Yes, the drivers are easy to install and Yes, the hardware is easy to upgrade them i'm going to get 2 of these....*Update: (1 hour later) I downloaded the User Guide for this model to find out more about the 2nd Hard drive installation and it was no help AT ALL. I called Toshiba and the guy on the phone told me that I would have to take the Laptop to a dealer/repair shop to install the 2nd hard drive. I told him that I am a tech and that it should not be that hard to add a 2nd drive. Also, my decision to purchase this laptop is based on how easy it is to upgrade... He gave me this site link: [link removed by Amazon? search for Qosmio Hard Drive upgrade] and WOW! This laptop has now become a dream come true! The images show you how easy this laptop is to upgrade (if you already know how to upgrade laptops) I am supersold on this and will buy two of them when they become available. I won't be able to report on how easy the drivers are to install until I get them. *Update: June 6, 2013: I got the Qosmio 875-Q7190 and it is still me dream laptop BUT #1 CD/DVD Discs don't cost much these days When I spend this much on something I want EVERYTHING that comes with it, especially all of the software. I shouldn't have to read a manual or search the internet to find out that I need to make my own discs from the laptop; and "restore" discs at that! Shame on any company that won't spend $1 or $2 to make sure their PC/laptop is shipped with all the discs. # 2 the power connection to this laptop is not sturdy there should be a latch or something I am a tech and I have worked on some Toshiba laptops and I was not impressed by how flimsy the power cable connects to the units I will send a note to toshiba about this this laptop is NOT Far from perfection. #3 There is NO HARD DRIVE LED on the unit.. can you believe this ?! I wonder who made that decision? Hard drive leds hve been a standard since 1985, and that fact that it is missing on this unit is NOT an improvement. #4 and the worst part: Windows 8 was pre-installed I had no choice Well guess what? There is no flexibility here for me, Windows 8 is just a re-masked, more cumbersome version of Windows 7. Also I CAN'T USE THIS COPY OF WINDOWS 8 ON ANY OTHER PC EVER. So I purchased Windows 8, but I got the "OEM" version so I can't delete it from this laptop and use it somewhere else. BUT...If I purchased Windows 8 in a store i could do that. Do I feel cheated?.. Ya Think? Also, no Windows 8 serial.. If I upgrade to Windows 8 Pro do I have to call someone to get it? Hmmmm...I still love this hardware but I hate it when companies do things on the cheap Sorry Toshiba, but not including the software discs makes you cheap. Lack of the HD LED is a design mistake. If Toshiba had done any market testing with this design I think that everyone who gave a review would write "Where is the Hard drive light?" Love ya Toshiba but you still have some work to do. This product is so close to perfection....

I'd like to start off this review by saying that I previously have only owned Dell laptops of off the shelf quality (no gaming specs). This is the first gaming laptop I have purchased, and so far it has met or exceeded my expectations, for a laptop. Games run well on it, even at full configs, and the graphics are nice, overall just a good experience. My only two minor issues with it are Windows 8 and that it runs hot when you play a demanding game. Windows 8, definitely seems designed for touch pads and I do not know why they didn't redesign a version for a "normal" pc (non-touch). But that's not the product's fault, that's on MS. The issue with running hot is really not a big deal, it is just because of the fan's exhaust being pointed out to where your right hand would be holding a mouse, it can get warm. I was able to mitigate this greatly by purchasing one of those laptop fan desk things.

So my recommendations for this are experiement with Windows 8, or reformat to an older OS and purchase an external fan for the laptop. All in all, I would recommend this laptop to someone on a lower budget that maybe cannot afford a high end model.

I've had two or three HP laptops in the past which I loved but they ran very hot. So far this Toshiba runs cool and fast. The only things I don't really care for are the textured aluminum case.... it seems to collect dust and crumbs, etc, more easily than a smooth aluminum case .... and its weight. It seems heavier than my last HP which was the same size. This is not a convenient laptop for traveling, although I do take it with me, but it is heavy and bulky to carry around. It is a great laptop replacement! The other problems I'm having are Windows 8 related. Windows 8 is really designed for touch-pad computers...I wish I had known that . I may have looked into getting a touch-pad laptop instead.

Toshiba 15.6" Satellite C655-S5225 Intel Laptop

Toshiba 15.6' Satellite C655-S5225 Intel LaptopHate it. The trackpad is rough, like cat's tongue, and the cursor does not move smoothly in drag-and-drop. Other laptops, even Toshiba models, offer smoother function. Try the Solitaire (which MSFT has messed up w/ over-design). Like most laptops now, the ports and CD/DVD drive are all on the sides. Add this space-destroyer to the additional width necessary for the numbers pad at the right (duplicating the numbers at the top of the keyboard) and you have little room for papers, binders, etc., and it's easy to dislodge, bump a device. I'm told that motel safes do not accommodate the 15" and over laptops. In addition, the keypad (esp. the trackpad) is off-center so it's easy to hit number keys instead of the key you want. I bought this item at Best Buy b/c $349.99 was such a good price for 4GB memory (not expandable), 320GB HDD. Amazon, Fry's and NewEgg give you 30 days to discover the kinks. Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot give only 14 days -NOT enough. What I learned: buy from shops w/ 30-day return policies.

I bought this computer from Best Buy in late October for my mother who does very limited and basic processing and computing. She likes to find stuff online and look for ads for garage sales, so she was not utilizing everything the computer can do. For christmas she asked for a Kindle Fire so she gave me the laptop as a trade-off. So far, I absolutely love this laptop. I should start off by saying that I don't mind that it is slightly larger than a lot of other laptops that are trying to be slim and lightweight. It is still light for the size of it but having the 15.6" screen is great when watching videos and movies on it. The processor is plenty fast enough for my computing needs, such as basic word processing and multiple online searching and web browsing. It downloads everything I need very quickly and runs movies and windows media player without a hiccup. Viewing 1080p or 720p movies or youtube vidoes is very smooth and look great on the screen! The graphics card doesn't skip and runs flawlessly as well. Again, I am not a huge processor hog and don't play to many video games on it, but I do watch plenty of youtube video's while searching the web and also try to stream football or hockey games using ESPN 3 or other websites and it runs those extremely well. The only real complaint is that it only has 2 USB 2.0 ports and no HDMI output. It does have a webcam for Skype etc., and the number pad on the far right hand side. I actually thought I would hate this part, and I did when first using the computer but when I had to fill in information on websites or for any type of accounting information, the number pad actually came in very handy. I really enjoy this computer for a basic laptop with good features for a basic to medium user. My girlfriends mother also got a Toshiba Satellite but it was a different version and it came as a glossy silver finish. A couple of notes on this difference. First, the mouse pad is harder to find because the glossy finish blends in with the finish of the mouse track pad so it is hard to know when your actually touching the pad or the computer case. Secondly, she has had some issues with the battery and the WI-FI connection cutting in and out. It is only on that specific version of the Satellite series but it was a major annoyance when the battery would cut out and you have it plugged in! It would also not properly connect to the internet via wi-fi so it would cut in and out because of the same battery issue. I have no issues with any of that on the S5225 version and the matt black finish is nice because you don't see every little fingerprint on the case. It is a great value for what I need and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality, but cheaply priced laptop.

Samsung Series 9 900X3C - 13.3" - Core i7 3517U (Model: NP900X3C-A04US)

Samsung Series 9 900X3C - 13.3' - Core i7 3517UI had been looking for a fast but highly portable business PC for sometime. And although I have been a PC guy all my life, I had been seriously considering switching to Macbook Air, because of it's form factor. I even bought the HP slate 500, which is a great tablet PC, but is highly underpowered and at least at this time cannot replace a laptop. Finally, I looked at the Intel Ultrabooks and liked the ASUS Zenbook a lot. So off I went to Bestbuy to buy one. But when I actually handled these machines at Bestbuy, I noted that though the ASUS Zenbooks are really pretty and sexy, the sharp edges of their metallic body is a concern can almost cut through skin! While at Bestbuy, I also saw the 15" Samsung series 9, and was really impressed. I therefore did some research online and found that Samsung series 9 also came in much lighter 13.3" (2.55 pound) models. It's quite surprising that only limited information is available on the latest versions (i7-3517U) of this model the 13.3" model is not even featured on the Intel Ultrabook website! So, when I looked at the specs it was a simple decision. I bought the best available model NP900X3C-A04US (3rd gen Intel Core i7-3517U 1.90 GHz, 256GB solid state HDD) and got it a few days later. It's beautiful, solid, extremely well designed and light. I love the speed, quick boot up time and the back lit keyboard. The sound is also surprisingly good. I have not tested it's battery life yet, but it has given me a several hours worth of light office use without any issues. I would definitely recommend this machine to others.

I am a software developer and needed a second notebook as a backup and to use at client's sites. An ultrabook seemed to be the answer. I researched all reviews for several months, finally zeroing in on an ASUS ux31a Zenbook. I was concerned about mixed reviews concerning the reliability of the product. I started looking at others and heard a recommendation for the Samsung Series 9 ultrabook. After much research I ordered the i7 with 256 SSD drive. It was best decision I could have made. First, I was impressed that the product is packaged like an Apple product. I opended it up and did what most techies do, started removing bloatware and adding my development files. I now have it for several days and have made the following observations:

1It boots very fast and the drive seems to be very quick.

2The setup was easy and the documentation is clear to use.

3The unit is not only very light, it looks and feels very sturdy for such a small form.

4The screen is amazing...the colors are clear and I have not seen any pixel problems.

5The touchpad is OK once you get used to it.

6The keyboard works for me even though it is small. I am a two finger typist and I had no problem coding with it.

7The battery life seems to be excellent. It seems to be between 6-7 hours. I have not used it for videos but I would assume it would drain the battery faster.

Overall I am extremely impressed with the Samsung Series 9 i7 Ultrabook. Amazon delievered the product in 2 days. I definitely recommend this fine product.

Buy Samsung Series 9 900X3C - 13.3" - Core i7 3517U (Model: NP900X3C-A04US) Now

Following up on William's comments: I too have had this model for about 6 weeks now, and really like it! It is very very fast boot-up especially. I also like to run the Windows XP mode as one of my older development environments requires it. It's nice to be able to do this on one screen while the normal Windows 7 runs on the other (extended desktop). The built-in laptop screen is bright and crystal clear.

The only slight down side is the track-pad, whose operation leaves something to be desired. In fact I found that it was unusable until I unplugged the power supply for the laptop go figure! Working with tech support and updating the driver software did not help. Anyway, I use an external mouse anyway, but I thought I would mention this problem in an otherwise excellent laptop.

I bought this Samsung 900X3C-A04US ultrabook back in November and found typing extremely difficult as letters and words jumped all over the page and ended up in the middle of other sentences and even other paragraphs. I downloaded and installed Samsung's firmware keypad fix to no avail, so I sent it back to them for repair. They replaced the keyboard but that did not help at all, so I sent it back a second time, explaining the problem in detail. I just received the unit back from repair today but the problem was even worse than before--typing is now essentially impossible, and I have been a touch-typist for over 60 years! I am now trying to get a complete replacement for this turkey but I have no idea whether I will succeed; I have been told that the A05US was introduced to correct the typing problem, but nobody at Samsung will yet promise to send me that model instead.

HP Pavilion dv4-1551dx Notebook PC - 14.1" Display / Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz / 4GB DDR3 / 320

HP Pavilion dv4-1551dx Notebook PC - 14.1' Display / Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz / 4GB DDR3 / 320GB HD / DVD±RW/CD-RW / Webcam & Microphone / Windows 7 Home Premium EditionMy laptop performs all of the functions I request of it with alacrity and accuracy. I am quite pleased and recommend it often. It has given me absolutely no cause for complaint, as of yet, and I consider that a strong endorsement for high-level product approval. It is very lightweight, feels small even, and is also relatively slim. The screen seems small at first, but, like driving a friends automobile, one becomes accustomed to the differences quickly and adapts. I find it handy. Movies, music, office-type tasks, internet, the few games I enjoy and it has a webcam that I haven't tried these things work perfectly. The features packed onto this little notebook are amazing to me. So many well-organized and well-conceived features in such a small package. Don't get one of the inexpensive off-brand batteries if you can possibly avoid doing so. The HP replacements/spares are much better in my experience. I feel quite comfortable and pleased with my investment in this product and most definitely feel comfortable advising whomever it may be that is reading this, if you are considering buying a laptop, the hp pavilion dv4-1551dx would be an excellent choice. It is really so much faster then I expected. Enjoy......

I bought two of these laptops back in September 2009. The battery life is pretty good with an average of about 3 hours. the weight and portability make this a good laptop as well. The programs run smoothly and overall I have enjoyed the laptop.

The major flaw of this laptop is that after two years, neither of the laptops will take a charge. The charging port has become loose and now I have to spend about 45 minutes trying to get this computer to charge.

It worked great for a while, but if you are planning on keeping your laptop for more then 2 years I would suggest something else.

Buy HP Pavilion dv4-1551dx Notebook PC - 14.1" Display / Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz / 4GB DDR3 / 320 Now

I have owned an HP DV4-1551dx for about 2 1/2 years now. I bought it on eBay as used like new. This machine has performed extremely well for me while traveling, home office and personal use. It has hundreds of hours of use. It has been used for 125+ Power Point presentations and 200+ Netflix downloaded movies, iTunes radio and music listening. I have used Roxio 2010 to create more than 150 original disks from pictures. It has Skype and works perfectly for call to relatives in Brazil. I have used it to transfer about 100 LP 33 1/3 RPM records to iTunes. This has been an exceptionally durable laptop. I cloned the hard drive recently and replaced it with another 320 GB drive just in case. I have had several hard drive failures in the past on other computers and it it better to replace them before you need to rather than after they crash! I use it on top of a cooling fan for extended use and blow the dust out of the case and fan every 3 months.

This laptop is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something small and portable, yet very useful. The only con is that sometimes in bright light there is a glare on the screen.

Toshiba Satellite P775-S7236 17.3-Inch LED Laptop (Black)

Toshiba Satellite P775-S7236 17.3-Inch LED LaptopThis laptop is incredible. The specs are simply ridiculous for the price, and it's pretty much ready right out of the box. There IS a fair amount of Toshiba preloaded apps, but they don't get in the way. There is no bloatware that continues to pop up and ask you upgrade. If its presence in your Start menu is that much of a problem, they are easily deleted and uninstalled from the laptop. And then that's it. What's important is the performance of the laptop, and it delivers really well in that department. I often run many different programs, and the 6 gigs of RAM, along with the 2.0 gHz quad-core processor, really give you a lot of elbow room to play around with all of the features. I don't understand why people have problems with the look of the laptop. You can clearly see, this is a large machine. It looks pretty sharp with it's black finish, but it IS a little on the heavy side. It's screen is no joke, and produces beautiful images with great contrast. Since this is a laptop best suited for media, good audio would be a necessity. This laptop came with Harman/Kardon speakers, which produce extremely clear audio... Which is impressive since laptops generally don't have the best sound. They can also get fairly loud, which is a nice touch. The keyboard has separated keys, much like a Mac, which in my opinion, are much easier to type on.

Overall, I'd say the only problem I have with this laptop is the battery. Depending on what you're doing, it can range from an hour and a half to 4 hours. There's a nice ecoUtility feature that can be turned on easily by pressing a button. It dims your screen and cuts down performance in the places where you don't need it so you can prolong the battery life when you really need it. I highly recommend this laptop if it's in your budget.

Pros:

-Simple, fast response times for most non-3D based programs.

-Uses system resources well, doesn't lag horribly with simple tasks such as internet, email, word processing, etc. (That's mostly the i7 processor and the Windows 7 processing power.)

-Straightforward and easy-to-use shortcut buttons.

-Keyboard is very smooth and responsive.

-Battery life is impressive: 6.5 hours on maximum performance settings and minimum brightness settings.

Cons:

-Does not perform as well as I would like in 3D programs such as games (League of Legends, Sanctum, and Left For Dead 2 all performed at minimum settings with an average of 30FPS).

-Comes with a metric mathton of bloatware from Toshiba, all of which is completely useless. Update programs, Service stations, all of it is a load. Moderately easy to uninstall, but I would recommend a clean install right off the bat.

-Blu-Ray required an update to the software before I could play any BR discs at all, was very inconvenient.

Overall this product is a bit overpriced, but with the free Xbox 360 I called it even.

So I have had this laptop for over a week and I must say I am impressed. One of favorite features has to be the keyboard, nice big smooth separated buttons it really makes typing on a laptop much easier. The webcam is stellar and takes good pics. I love the big 17in screen very clear picture great for watching movies on your laptop. The blu-ray player worked fine with out requiring any updates, The sound with dolby advanced audio with Harman/Kardon speakers is some of the best compared to any laptop I have ever previously owned. This laptop also features harddrive protection that protects your laptops harddrive if your laptop is bumped or moved. I appreciate some of the Toshiba pre-installed software, especially the eco utility. The computers performances seems excellent with very little lag time. I am really pleased overall.

My only complaint might be that my battery life only seems to be about 2 hrs fully charged without the eco utility on.

I am very happy with my purchase of this laptop. When I received it I was a little worried as there were a few mixed reviews. Also, I have never purchased a Toshiba before, and I have purchased a lot of laptops and desktops over the years. I am very impressed with the speed of this laptop even with the fact that the internet service provider in my small town has poor bandwidth it flies through the internet. The key board is great including the number pad. This is something I missed with my smaller laptops. Also, there was much less bloat ware then I was expecting and it was easy to get rid of. The screen is large and has brilliant resolution. I also am impressed with the way it hooks up to my TV and my receiver. I get a great picture and the surround sound works great. I am not a professional computer programmer; I am just a mom with lots of kids, fulltime college student, small business owner and volunteer addict. I get a lot of use out of my computers and since I purchased this one it has seemed to fill the spot very well. I would recommend this to others.

Has all of the features I was looking for in a laptop and is a good deal for a system with Ci7. The screen is bright and fantastically big, and the overall speed/computing power is admirable. The touch pad feels right and your finger doesn't stick to it like some HPs I've used. The bluray drive is nice and I havent had any issues with it. Will definitely recommend this system to my friends.

Lenovo ThinkPad X120e 0596A28 11.6' LED Notebook E-350 1.6GHz - Matte BlackI use both Mac and Windows computers but when it came to finding a small computer for travel the Lenovo came out at the top of my list. I wanted something lighter than my 15.4 inch laptop. I also wanted to get a netbook from a company with a good track record for service which eliminated Dell and Asus from the list.

The Lenovo at 3.5 lbs is light and the 11.6 screen is XGA at 768 vs 600 lines of resolution. It has a separate AMD graphics processor which definitely helps with performance. The netbook does support two 4GB RAM modules for a total of 8GB of RAM.

It has WiFi with excellent reception and with 802.11n it is much faster than my old WiFi laptop. It also has a 1GB Ethernet connection which I use when transferring large files from a desktop computer to the netbook before a trip. The speed difference of the 1GB Ethernet is very noticeable and cuts file transfer times by 90%.

The keyboard is outstanding and has to be used to be fully appreciated. It has the action of a top quality aftermarket desktop keyboard and much better than any other I have used from HP-Compaq, Apple, Dell, or Toshiba. With a reduced size keyboard the extra feel of the Lenovo is much noticed and much appreciated. The best part is the pointer in the center which I find much easier to use than a touch pad when I cannot use a mouse, as when strapped into an aircraft at 30,000 feet.

The netbook also includes a SD card reader which some people may find useful. It has a HDMI port which I do find useful when traveling. I can take a HDMI cable and hook the netbook up to the LCD televisions I find in most hotel rooms.

All in all this laptop has met my needs, both for functionality and price. I didn't want to spend more than five on a laptop, and this was the perfect price for my needs and use.

I bought this for its:

1. speed (faster than my previous Atom-based netbook),

2. larger screen (11.6 is way better than 10.1)

3. matte screen (I don't like glossy displays) and

4. overall professional look.

Modifications I made:

1. Installed additional 4GB for a total of 6GB. Installation is very easy.

2. Switched the Fn and Ctrl keys virtually in the BIOS (there is a option), and physically by snapping them off with a credit card and snapping them into the switched locations. Now I have the Ctrl key in the bottom left, which is where most laptops have it.

What bothers me:

1. The fan (air-flow) sound level is relatively high, but am getting used to it. I subtract 1 star because of this.

2. An occasional 'clunk' sound from the hard drive sounds like a billard ball or mable dropped on a floor. I've researched this a bit looks like many disk drive brands have this issue could be fixed by firmware, but doesn't apparently affect the drive long term. However, I do backups regularly to make sure I don't lose any data.

Bonus:

1. Only slightly heavier than my previous Atom-based netbook, it is noticeable, but tolerable.

2. There are 2 sets of right and left mouse buttons at the top of the touchpad (for use with the trackbutton) and bottom of the touchpad (for use with the touchpad itself.) I'm getting used to using both sets.

Bottom line:

Better-than-netbook and almost-a-laptop. It's been a month or so since I bought this and I'm happy with it.

Cheers!

Specs alone tell a tale of incredible value:

7200RPM HDD (2.5" SATA drive compartment, so it'll take an SSD).

1.6GHz AMD E-350 dual-core processor within a 64-bit chipset.

Support for up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.

Dedicated Radeon HD 6310 graphics processor.

Matte/antiglare HD display.

6-8 hour battery life.

VGA & HDMI output.

All for less than $250 (lightly used or refurbished on eBay).

This laptop is an absolute powerhouse. Performs as well as, if not better than, anything running an Intel Core i3 with similar components. Plays modern PC games (with the obvious exception of stuff like Crysis) at around 40-50 frames per second on low settings. Nothing special, but entirely playable and certainly impressive for a computer of this price and stature. I personally use it to produce & perform with Ableton Live & FL Studio (with a larger external monitor of course).

Highly demanding tasks aside, this computer is an absolute must-buy if you're in the market for an ultraportable device.

In simple terms:

Nice hardware. Definately Lenovo is pulling out well built stuff. I've used IBM/Lenovo for many years at the office; that's why I purchased this for my wife.

If you're looking for a netbook kind of use equipment; this a netbook killer. However, for the specifications and price (this is a Notebook, not a Netbook!)I expected faster performance. We actually use it for browsing purposes and a few Home-Office features and yet, not the expected performance for such simple tasks.

Finally, the battery. Regular use, mostly connected. Two months and it doesn't hold a charge for more than 1 hour. It could be a defectous one; however, it happened to be in mine.

Hope the review is useful.

It has been a pleasure dealing with Cell Locker regarding this refurbished Thinkpad 120e. They responded quickly and efficiently to my concerns and also have provided me with some good guidance with the Thinkpad. I expect to enjoy it a lot.

Sony VAIO VPCEE42FX/WI 15.5" Laptop

Sony VAIO VPCEE42FX/WI 15.5' LaptopThis machine performs like a beast yet it has a elegant appearance. The video is excellent and runs most popular games. Sony has really made these machines to turn heads. Heads will turn anywhere as a result of this bold white interior. The audio great. Overall a great white super machine by Sony. I strongly recommend.

I don't know too terribly much about computers, but I haven't had any problems with mine yet. I LOVE that it has a number pad on the side, and the keyboard is very easy to type on. The track pad is textured, which I really like. The webcam is quite nice, and has good resolution.

The only downside that I have found is that the track pad is off center, so sometimes my hand bumps into it while I'm typing, and it messes me up. But honestly, it is a small price to pay for all of the features that I like about it.

This computer lasted just over a year and a half. There is a problem with powering on which could be anything; I won't buy anything Sony again. I have a Sony from 2001 I still use and will be finding a good recycle place for this one to keep it from cluttering a landfill.

I bought laptop not even 3 years ago. Repair guy says about $480 for one plus labor. This now glorfied paper weight almost never left the house. No spills on it, no power surges, no kids pounding the keys. Apparently it was bad luck to choose the computer cost a little more whith a better reputation, so I thought. My bad.

I purchased this laptop from CircuitCity.com for $499 -it is an excellent value for the specs, and it had everything I was looking for in a laptop. I wanted it to be easy to travel with, have a webcam to Skype with my family when I travel for work, and have enough RAM and harddrive space to run multiple programs and save basic documents for home and work computing. I like Windows 7 and the Sony Viao options so far. The one surprise was it's not just white -the wristrest area is glittery which makes it look rather girly, and that isn't really shown in the photos or descriptions online. I'm just glad I bought it for me and not my husband otherwise it would have been getting returned.
