ASUS A53U-AS21 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mocha)

I was very skeptical of buying this product since I had seen so many negative reviews of it on the page of it's 500 GB counterpart that has all of the same specs. I am writing my review to tell you that it's not as bad as it sounds.

I have no idea why others are having problems with their laptops, mine is working perfectly.Sure, it is not lightning fast when it comes to installing new programs, but my older laptop was worse. Despite all of the needless programs that start with start up, it boots at a normal pace. There is a lot of pre-installed junk that I uninstalled a quick fix to anyone. Just make sure to do a quick Google search to make sure it's not important before getting rid of it. Vibe and Facelogin can go instantly.

I saw reviewers saying they didn't like the keyboard, but I do. It's not "too wide" and they keys are where they have always been. The speeds are fine, and the quality of the webcam is pretty good. I have used this laptop for just one day, but I already like it more than my older one. I have run Skype (in a call with my husband), Chrome, McAfee, and an installer for iTunes all at one time with no crashes or any drops in speed, and it held up very well.

The only few problems I had were as follows:

There is a lot of pre-loaded, useless junk on it

There is too much reserved space for the system (About 48 GB, I believe)

The battery life could be better, though it is not bad (running up to 4 hours on Power Saving setting)

The things I liked the most:

The keyboard is perfect (not to spaced out, not too crowded)

It keeps itself running very coolly, and it hasn't even gotten warm on the bottom after extended amounts of use.

The overall color and feel of the laptop

The quality of webcam and audio calls

Overall, 4/5 stars. Not bad, especially for the price (which it is definitely worth),despite receiving a lot of bad reviews.

I bought this laptop for my mother to complete school after her 3 year old HP laptop died using Skype and was skeptical due to few bad reviews that showed after I had purchased product. I setup the laptop and had no problems with speed or error codes etc. It comes with some bloatware but far less than what you get on HP laptops. The laptop is well built and put together. The display is sharp. I was able to install all her needed programs and add back her profile data that was recovered from HP drive without any issues and quickly to my surprise. I'm computer tech by trade and would recommend this product for price and basic computing needs.

this is a good very inexpensive laptop. it is not a game changer just an average disposable day in-out worker. the one nice feature that sets it apart is the keyboard placement. they have done something to help prevent the heels and palms of my hands from creating commands. i have no idea who shares this problem with me but i find typing much easier with far fewer mistakes on this laptop than on any other i have had. otherwise a nice computer-we'll see how it holds up over time. who knows?

Excellent service, I just got this amazing laptop and had a spill,a first for me and I called Customer service and they assisted with shipping and warranty,along with complete repair at no charge Thank You, back to the laptop it has windows 7 that will not be installed on computers any longer because of the move to install windows 8, but what they do not tell you is that windows 8 is for touch screens, not keybord use only, so there are many more keystrokes to get to where your going and having to adjust the screen with keyboard constantly. That said this laptop is great for streaming, the AMD program assist with adjusting with various stream websites I never had a problem and started enjoying this laptop more than my Toshiba laptop or dell desktop very user friendly just a note do not rush setup when first turning on new laptop and it will, after completing of updating, run very fast and after removing some of the preinstalled options extras makes using this laptop very easy and fun. Also it has 1GB dedicated RAM for Graphics card and yes some sharing is going on. Just got my laptop back from repair and all my info and security and settings have not been lost or removed. Working perfect.

When I read the reviews, I was worried about performance. During the first days performance was horrible. There was quite a bit of updating going on, and of course I installed some extra software. Once that was over, all was fine. Like the laptop a lot, especially considering its price.
