Bottom Line: This may be my favorite computer ever! None of the 'cons' I listed mean much to me. My last laptop was an HP DV6T and it overheats daily. So I'd rather have a laptop with good cooling. MSI tends to honor warranties regardless, and I've got a wireless mouse. At the end of the day, this computer is GREAT! I put Windows 7 on an SSD and am using the included 750GB drive as storage. I've been able to get 3DMark 11 scores of over 3500 and PCMark 07 scores of 4600 on turbo. The keyboard is super stiff and has a very cool multi-colored backlight like the Alienware gaming laptops. The sound is great. The sub-woofer does make a difference. The 2 SATA bays and the 4 SODIMM slots make this laptop totally expandable. You'll want to note that the 12GB is in the form of 3 4GB SODIMMs. So to reach the max of 32GB they'll all have to come out. (It is annoying that they include the 2nd HDD bay mount in the box, but put a 'Warranty Void if Tampered' sticker on the expansion door. However my previous experiences with MSI tell me they'll honor the warranty and that this is just so they don't warranty/replace add-on parts. (I had to put on my 'I Void Warranties' shirt to install my SSD!)
Other thoughts: The only reason not to buy this laptop is so you can get the GT60-0NE. (It has the GTX 680M graphics card. $400 more but if you're gaming...) Really, this is a great machine. I've had Alienware, Asus, Clevo, etc. This MSI keeps up in every way. I definitely recommend this laptop.
I'm a frequent gamer who goes on business trips and I wanted something I could take with me to play games and also handle office projects. I only just got this beast yesterday, but my initial impression is just like the other reviewers here -it's an impressive piece of equipment that is just plain cool.
PROS-
-The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M graphics card is perfect. It hits every game benchmark, able to play all modern games at least on Medium and most on High settings. It ran METRO 2033 for me flawlessly while I had several other programs open.
-12GB RAM means that it never actually feels like a gaming pc -as in, you never have to close out everything else just to devote all resources to one game session.
-The backlit, customizable keyboard is impressive and can be lit according to which section you use most.
-It's lighter than I thought it would be, and does just fine in terms of portability.
-Fast booting -like, mere seconds.
-No bloatware; there's very little pre-installed on this thing to slow down any of the processing.
CONS-
The biggest con here is that when I turned it on for the first time yesterday it wouldn't boot past the APITRO boot menu, which means that the OS was corrupted. Apparently this was not an isolated event with this laptop and happens occasionally with Windows 8. I had to reset the entire computer which took about 2 hours, and once I did that it worked (and still works) perfectly.
Yes, being unable to use your new computer because the software is corrupted is a pretty big deal, but it was easy to fix, and self-correcting after a quick couple jabs of F3 at start-up.
Other: I'm just not a big fan of Windows 8. But that's not a big deal.
Verdict so far: If you have the money (or can take advantage of Amazon's financing special going on now with laptops, and you want a laptop that will let you play games without checking the "minimum system requirements" this is the one you should get. I'll update the review as needed.

The MSI GT60 with the Nvidia 675 video processor is an excellent machine. I have had mine for a month and it is very fast performs quite well with Windows 8 though I tend to stay in the traditional desktop environment. The best part is I can now play Skyrim at it's full graphical settings and with additional graphic upgrades and still get over 30 frames per sec. It is definitely not a 'portable' computer but it is still small enough to use comfortably on a lap board in my lounge chair. Just a phenom of a laptop. I can not remember the last time I turned my desktop machine on. It has become my primary machine and replaced my Samsung Chronos 7 laptop.I haven't done much gaming on this machine, but notice that SimCity 5 (when I can get logged in) and Diablo III never burped on it. Diablo III visually is quite nice and plays smooth.
VirtualBox runs like a charm. The out-of-the-box 12 GB of ram is more than enough for your 32 bit virtual machines. On my Samsung VirtualBox would seem to choke on start up taking about 1 minute to load ... the virtual machines significantly longer to 'power up' on the Samsung laptop. On this laptop it is blazing fast.
There are two hard drive bays and the laptop comes with a second drive mounting bracket. Installed a Crucial m4 256GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT256M4SSD2 SSD then used Acronis to clone the installation over from the factory installed hard disk. In all honesty there is not much difference in boot time with Windows 8 from an SSD or a hard disk. Microsoft did a good job optimizing Win8 boot times.
For this laptop, Windows 8 and a SSD the largest benefit is the opening time of applications. For most you will hardly see the loading splash screens. Visual Studio generally is up and running for me in less than 5 seconds.
I can not confirm claims (other than from the bios screen) of four memory slots. There are two readily available memory slots once you take the bottom panel off. The other two are elsewhere and didn't bother further disassembly to find them. There is a chance that the two hidden sticks of memory are soldered to the main board, but can not confirm.
One of these memory slots is already populated with a 4 GB stick of memory.
Overall I have found the 12 GB of stock memory ample enough.
When removing the bottom panel, take your time. After removing all the screws (including the one hiding under the "warranty void if removed" sticker) there are many plastic tabs that hold the panel in place to the surrounding housing. I used a very small flat bladed screwdriver to gently pry the panel up from the surrounding housing.
Case-wise ended up purchasing an Ativa MobileIT case (Item 409-329). A frickn beast of a case, but offers me ample room for the laptop, its gigantic power brick and everything else I carry to and from work. To pick a case I took the laptop with me to a local store and tried to insert it into the case. The bulk of the 15.6" laptop cases could not accommodate the thickness and width of this laptop. Look at 17" laptop cases and even some of those have to little of a laptop compartment.
There was not much "bloatware" pre-installed, thank you MSI.
The keyboard has an excellent feel and very little flex. Note that the Windows logo key is only on the right hand side of the keyboard. Gamers should appreciate that. The key motion seems a bit restrained. The arrow keys (hardly used) a bit cramped. The right shift key is significantly shortened.
A MSI Function key replaces the Windows logo key on the left hand side. The 'Home' and 'End' keys on this keyboard require using the MSI Function key, sharing the 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' keys. As a programmer I don't care for that, but most often have a USB keyboard and mouse attached anyway.
When stressed the laptop's fan noise is not excessive and the power brick gets quite warm. I would recommend heavy gamers purchase an active cooling laptop pad to set the laptop on when gaming.
MSI is a reputable and respected brand in computing technology. My only hesitation in purchasing this laptop was its weight. Yes it's a beast, but I carry it to work and back every day. Keep in mind that it weighs about as much as a newborn baby. If a mom can carry her baby around...I can carry my baby around. And no diapers to change.

This laptop is exactly as I expected: A powerful gaming laptop that is a tank. I was looking for a powerful gaming rig that is more portable than a desktop for LAN parties, and this laptop works perfectly. And yes, it does indeed have 12GB of ram.Pros: Powerful, 1080p, perfect for gaming, the keyboard is cool, and inexpensive for a near top-of-the-line gaming laptop.
Cons: Windows 8 (my opinion), portability don't be expecting to carry this brick around often.
Bottom line: A solid gaming laptop that runs all of my games perfectly, but I still prefer my more portable laptop for work & web browsing. 5 stars: it delivers exactly as advertised (+ 12GB ram), and doesn't feel cheap. I highly recommend it for anybody looking for a powerful gaming laptop.
