HP Pavillion G6-2123us 15.6" Laptop (AMD A6-4400 Trinity Processor 2.6 GHz with 3.0 GHz Turbo, AMD

This is my 3rd. HP Laptop & has done well. Transfer of data from the old to the new was very easy with a transfer cable, with no professional help. This HP is slightly faster than my last Pavillion. (Open laptops do not bounce off floor well.) I currently have 5 Firefox tabs open including a weather radar and it is keeping just fine. My only problem is killing the touch pad, which makes typing a document an adventure. I am very satisfied with this laptop. Delivery was very fast and it came well protected. If you like HP laptops you will like this.

First of all, this is a budget laptop -this is not a monster that cost nearly a grand, so you have to keep your expectations in check. This laptop works quite well for daily tasks. The screen is low-resolution, but that is par for the course for this price point. The processor is quite adequate, and the graphics performance is nice for light gaming. 640 GB hard drive is nice and roomy. Really, I found only two negatives:

1) The CPU is capable of handling dual-channel RAM, but it only comes with one RAM module. Add a 2nd module to get a nice memory bandwidth boost -this should make the CPU and the graphics just a little bit faster. Note that mine came with a low-voltage 4G module, so I had to hunt for another low-voltage one to put in there (I added a Samsung).

2) The optical drive does not handle marginal-quality discs as well as other drives do. How often do you use an optical drive, though?

If you can grab this at a good price, go for it.

The screen is nice and bright. It's fast. The HD capacity is more than enough. The keyboard is easy to type. Everything works very well.

Laptop pad seems to have mind of it's own. Commands and icons appear for no apparent reason. When typing text cursor moves to new locations on it's own. Other that these glitches, the system in general works well, and very quickly. Good screen and graphics! Not the greatest laptop we have ever owned.
