HP Pavilion dv6t dv6tqe Quad Edition Laptop - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 2nd generation Intel C

HP Pavilion dv6t dv6tqe Quad Edition Laptop - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.0 GHz, 6GB DDR3 Ram, 750GB HD, 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6490M GDDR5 graphics, SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW, 15.6' diagonal High Definition LED HP Widescreen, Webcam, Intel Wireless-N CardThis machine was a gift. It had many problems out of the box. HP refused to acknowledge my invoice for two months, (which proved that it had been purchased, at least this time, on June 28, 2012) saying that their records said that it had been purchased before a year before, and that there was out of warranty. That makes me think that this piece of garbage was already somebody else's headache, returned and sold to me for new.

It took me two months to get HP to honor the receipt dated June 28, 2012. Then I had to fight with them to get them to acknowledge that the webcam was broken and that something inside the machine was resetting certain settings. I thought the settings issue was fixed when it started to throw blue error screens, and shutting down. I wanted to return it again and get my money back, so I could buy something else.

Finally, it did something to the password page, which I had had disabled, so that it wouldn't let me into the computer.

HP won't replace it. Now I see why. This model is a piece of garbage. Amazon WILL NOT HONOR THEIR PROMISE, the distributor has refused to speak to me about returning it, even at the 20% "restocking" fee, and has dodged and dodged.

BUYER BEWARE---of all three of these companies now. I'm so very disappointed with Amazon. I thought that at least they could be trusted, but apparently not.

These laptops have the new synaptics touchpad, which is almost unusable for most people. When you touch the left button or right button, it moves the pointer. If you have one finger on the touchpad, and another finger on the buttons, it gets confused and moves the pointer in odd directions.

The touchpad buttons are HARD to push. Maybe ten times harder than the keys on the keyboard. Your fingers will get sore very quickly.

If you try to return the computer, Bestdeal Tech charges a 20% restocking fee that is not disclosed in any of their advertisements, or in their terms of sale, or any of their links.

The one on the actual HP site is not only cheaper, it has a better processor, more RAM, customization, and blu-ray. A lot of Amazon products are great, but this one is behind the curve.

I purchased this as preparation for a graphic design course. I think I had a good deal. The only thing that's a lil bit not so cool is that the screen is way too wide (in comparison to its height) so it looks way flat, not as large as i thought.

I havent been using it much so can judge its durability.
