I'm going to start by stating that I have some biases. I've been a Mac user since 1995, and this is probably my umpteenth Mac laptop. My previous MacBook Pro (Core Duo 1.83 ghz) was bought used at two years of age. I just retired it in favor of this one. That computer was unstoppable, reliable, durable, and dependable. The only issues I had were with the battery but with LiIon batteries if you get more than a year out of one you are lucky. (I use mine on the road heavily)Now, on to this laptop. The setup is the same as it has been since 2006, albeit with some updates a firewire 800 port, faster CPU, more video memory, etc. It is much faster than my old laptop and works great. Highly recommended.
Now, if you're buying this model now odds are good that it is second hand. Expect the battery to be dodgy but don't fret new ones aren't expensive the BTI aftermarket batteries work good. Otherwise, it's a good durable laptop that will serve you for years to come.
