Acer 11.6" AO725-0687 Laptop PC with AMD Dual-Core C-70 Processor,Windows 8 Operating System-Red

Acer 11.6' AO725-0687 Laptop PC with AMD Dual-Core C-70 Processor,Windows 8 Operating System-RedI am rating the Acer Aspire One (AO725-0687) as 5 stars based off what it is, not what it isn't. So maybe the best place to start is to say what it isn't. It isn't an Apple Ultrabook, a tablet PC, or a google or linux machine. If you're expecting a superfast, sleek, no-thought machine then you should cough up the couple grand to get an Apple. It also isn't running linuxso if you want to be able to customize every detail then you should probably go that direction.

So what is it? It's a balanced machine, which offers good performance, and nice perks, for a minimal price. Let's be honestif you're looking at an Acer Netbook you're attracted by the price primarily. This computer gives exceptional bang for your buck. It's only $60 more (at the time of writing) than a Kindle Fire HD, but you get a real full-fledged computer, with Win 8, with 320 gig HDD, with a pretty screen, and snazzy color. What more can you expect at this price point?

For the haters of WIn 8, it's not perfect, but it's pretty good. I would say to go with Windows 7 if you want a real work horse (my work computer is a Win 7 Lenovo), but Windows 8 is a great home operating system. It's fast, fun, cool, and integrates pretty seamlessly with a lot of the mobile apps available (e-mail, pulse, netflix, amazon, etc.) The OS is nice and doesn't take long to get used to (contrary to other reviews) so long as you're willing to learn.

Bottom lineif you want something which is a balance of different factors (customizable vs. no-work, price vs. performance, "cool" vs. work machine, etc.) then you can't do betterthis is a great machine and truly a 5 star experience.

This model has the C70-CPU and win 8. It does well in video playing. It comes with 1 USB 3.0 port, HDMI and long-life battery. My son loves it.

The Acer A0725-0687 is an amazing netbook for the price. I've owned it for about 3 weeks now and love it, but it does have its quirks.

Pros:

1. Radeon HD 7920 integrated graphics!!! (manufacturer and retail sites list it with 6920)

3. Computer is FAST for a netbook.

2. Hardware is easy to upgrade. You can remove the bottom plate by unscrewing one screw and sliding it. I replaced the stock hard drive with a 1 TB WD Blue and added a new stick of ram to max out its supported amount "Crucial 4GB DDR3 1333 MT/s (PC3-10600) CL9 SODIMM 204-Pin CT51264BC1339."

3. Computer is VERY lightweight and VERY thin.

4. This can actualy play some games at low settings. I installed Bulletstorm just to see, and it was running at about 28fps.

5. Computer design is pretty awesome. The key setup is very ergonomic, and the touchpad button setup is good. I had an HP-Mini, and the touch pad buttons were integrated with the actual touchpad, and it made browsing with touchpad clicks turned on impossible. Also it's very durable. I've already dropped it getting out of my car a few times. (I'm clumsy)

Cons:

1. Only two antenna cables, so if you are wanting to upgrade your wireless card to something awesome, don't. If you really want it that bad, you will have to install a third antenna yourself.

2. This computer requires Windows 8, not that it is really a con, but I really wanted to use Ubuntu 12.04. However, Ubuntu's proprietary drivers are nonexistent for the graphics card. In fact, the drivers for the graphics card are shady at best. When I put a fresh install of Windows 8 on the system, I could not install the drivers from the Acer website using the ATI catalyst installer. I actually had to go into the device manager, remove the windows display driver, and manually install from the driver folder. (Windows 8 x64 Media Center)

3. 1080p web stream is non-existent. The video will shudder. I recommend keeping it at 720.

Other Thoughts:

UEFI bios is enabled, and no selections will post when booting your computer. In order to access the bios, repeatedly press F2 at boot. Once in, you can change your bios settings from UEFI to Legacy. This will enable you to see the boot commands AND it will allow you to install a fresh copy of Windows or another OS. You MUST change the settings to Legacy, or you will not be able to install a fresh OS.

Battery life is usually lower than what the battery icon says on the desktop. I've been using a Momentus XT 750 to test for speed, and my battery last about 3 hours max with constant web browsing. I get about 2 hours with video playback. However, I will have to post battery life with the 1TB WD Blue since it is a less power hungry drive.

*** I read reviews on all the netbooks, and this one caught my eye. I shopped around a little bit, and I found it at Wal-Mart for $180. I could not believe it. You won't find a better netbook than this for that price. ***

Was considering I-Pad, this is a "real computer" for half the price, with three USB ports, Data Port, WiFi, Blue Tooth, 320 GB Storage... and about the same size and weight...I am beginning to sound like a salesperson. Learning Windows 8 and if you had Windows 7 you will be fine.

Dell Latitude E6510 Notebook PC - Core i7 i7-620M 2.66 GHz - 15.6" - Silver 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM - 320 G

Dell Latitude E6510 Notebook PC - Core i7 i7-620M 2.66 GHz - 15.6' - Silver 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM - 320 GB HDD - DVD-Writer - Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth - Windows 7 ProfessionalI was issued the Dell Latitude E6510 for my job. After six months of use, two of the USB ports stopped working. The technology team at my company replaced the motherboard which resolved this issue. However, two months later, the computer now freezes when I move the Dell even slightly, and then I need to force a shutdown in order to restart and unfreeze the computer. Also, the power cord now has a short, and I need to play with the cord until I get the blue light to indicate 'charging'. I then need to be very careful that the cord doesn't move and short out again; this in addition to, as I mentioned, needing to be careful that the computer doesn't move on my desk and freeze thus causing me to lose whatever information I just entered into the computer. I am currently awaiting the technology team at my company to pick up this computer to check on the freezing issue and replace the power cord. For a laptop at this price point, I would recommend taking a look at the Toshiba Portege or Lenovo IdeaPad. The Dell Inspiration also receives good reviews, but I would not recommend any Dell product after my experience with this product.

Dell supplied me in late 2010 with an E6510 as a warranty replacement for a Latitude D820 which kept having the Nvidia Graphics problem.

Used for business, domestic and charity work for at least 5 hours most days since, it's been lugged over 30000 miles mainly on public transport and has been completely free of faults.

I have not yet had to replace the battery, which I normally find necessary after average 15 months with a new laptop (say 500 charging cycles).

It once dropped 4 feet out of my bag onto a solid floor whilst in hibernation with no problem.

The only change made is that as the E6510 was supplied with spec to correspond with D820, the 2gb RAM supplied has been upgraded by me with 4GB, giving a vast improvement in performance.

I was recently issued this machine (E6510) at work and am very disappointed. I love Dell and have had plenty of great Latitude laptops, but this is not one of them. Consider instead the E6520, which is the dramatically improved newer version of the machine on this page, or the HP Elitebook 8560p. Both the E6520 and Elitebook 8560p are far better designs than this one. Look at the keyboard, fake speakers, port layout, battery life, among other things, and you will see what I mean for yourself.

Toshiba Satellite A305-S6858 Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz 4GB 320GB DVD±RW 15.4" Vista Home Premium (SP

Toshiba Satellite A305-S6858 Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz 4GB 320GB DVD±RW 15.4' Vista Home Premium WiFi w/Webcam, face recognition softwareEven thought this is my first laptop and I'm known in the house to "kill" anything that is eletronic. I find this computer exteremly reliable.

It did crash on me but that was my fault. Went on the wrong sites had to many virus and malware and it blinked out. I sent the laptop back to Toshiba and they fixed it within 2 weeks.

But I like the speakers they supply a decent sound, the mouse pad will get hot in long duration, due to the design and the finish you will be able to see your fingerprints (but thats something stupid to complain about), very fast on the internet no matter what (DSL, Cabel), a lot of storage space, and the software is very user friendly and I've never had a problem with Vista. It works like a breeze.

Sony VAIO E14 Series SVE14125CXW 14-Inch Laptop (White)

Sony VAIO E14 Series SVE14125CXW 14-Inch LaptopSony has gone downhill in implementation of an overall happy experience in their "lower priced laptops ($569.-$679.)". While I think this unit is overall a decent design, it has a major annoying aspect one can't ignore. The Track pad. Sensitivity is wayward, but the killer part for me is the cheap clacking noise it makes when clicking on it. It makes a cheap plastic clack every time you push it (and you must push it firmly). The PC works great, fast, good keypad, good heat dissipation, fast start up, etc. The speakers are lackluster and the case lid has some sharp edges. I bought mine at F**y's and am suspicious of their product source and them. I find it odd that when opening the box the item looked "almost" expertly repackaged. I suspect either they are selling overuns ,rejected quality items, or refurbished out of country items, and not letting on. Or maybe customs opens items more these days. The giveaway is the plastic covers that are supposed to be taped over(on new items) are not.I'll Buy Amazon next time.

I was looking for a small laptop with a backlit keyboard at a reasonable price. I often use my computer in dim light and this one solves the problem. The backlighting is not intrusive at all and can be turned off in normal lighting. This computer meets my needs. Sony does not load on tons of junk software. This computer is does not have a touch screen for Windows 8, which is a function I would not be interested in a laptop anyway. This computer works well with the Logitech T400 touch mouse, which is optimized for Windows 8. Actually, this mouse mirrors many of the touch functions of a touch screen.

The laptop is beautiful and it Works perfectly, but it seams cheap, I fear that if I am not very very gentle with it, the computer may break. The keyboard and the trackpad look easy to break. But the reason why it looks cheap is because it costs less than other laptops. So, I think I would recommend it to people looking for something cheap, but only if you know you can be careful with it. I think you get what you paid for.

this is a really nice computer, you can't obtain a better computer for this price. the backlit keyboard is very useful when you are in low lit conditions. Intel HD graphics 4000 run almost everything you need. bluetooth works perfectly (after some upgrades). procesor is really fast, letting you to run a lot of apps and programs. Windows 8 is a little bit annoying at first sight but you'll get used to it and when you do you'll find out that is a very nice system, really fast to boot up and very fluid. battery lifetime is quite good 3.5 to 4 hours with a single charge. and finally a thing that really impressed me is that this laptop doesn't heat up like other ones. no matter what you do with it, this laptop stay fresh.

My wife fell in love with this laptop. She loved the "pink" color. I read several of the reviews and had mixed feelings about this product. I even talked to the IT guys at work who told me Sony made a solid product. I had reservations based on some of the reviews but I bought this for my wife anyway. We received the laptop in 2 days via Prime, which is great by the way. The moment I opened the box I had concerns. The cloth bag the laptop was in had been obviously opened before so I figure this had to be a return. The fit and finish on this pink and white pastic case is terrible. The corners in the front do not match up well and leave gaps to snag on things. Performance was good, quite fast, but that's where it ends for the good stuff. The Bluetooth did not work, it would not connect with anything. The USB ports would accept some devices but not all. The keyboard area that is pink plastic, had some sort of residue on it that felt rough, almost like a paint overspray of some kind. We tried to get the wireless printer to connect but that would not connect either. We have 3 other laptops in the house that all connect flawlessly. I called Amazon and got an authorization to return the unit for a full refund. For the same money we went to Best Buy today and found for the same price $599.00 an Acer Ultrabook M5-581T-6405, 6gb of ram instead of 4, the same 500gb hard drive and it also has a 20gb SSD included. This think blows the Sony away on speed, picture quality, features and connectivity. Sorry Sony, I generally love all your products, I have several of them in my home, but this laptop is a dud!

Sony SVT15115CXS Vaio T Series Ultrabook 15.5" Touch-screen Laptop - 8gb Memory - Silver Mist

Sony SVT15115CXS Vaio T Series Ultrabook 15.5' Touch-screen Laptop - 8gb Memory - Silver MistI have had the laptop for two weeks, and it works excellent. Powerful, fast and Windows 8 is really not that bad.

The laptop is thin and light. The aluminum body is excellent looking and appears to be durable. The hinge is full length which I prefer for durability. Screen resolution is excellent. Touch screen works well, but you don't need to use it if you don't want. Battery life is about 4 plus hours on standard settings.

This laptop is amazing. Sony does a great job; the Sony Imagination bundled software is great and Sony keeps it's reputation however there is a fix to the Fan problem (and I'll explain the fix) for all T series.

Pros:

1080P resolution or double the resolution of that of 720P on a 16:9 display.

Touch screen is great on Win 8; firmware has been updated. No I know Win 8 is not so great but it's a start.

Sony Vegas Studio, Imagination Studio Bundled software

Typing is fast. I have never typed so fast on a computer; the keyboard is great.

The viewing angels are average and it's easy to install (a must have) SSD.

It's very light. The battery life lasts about 4.5 hours which is fine for me.

I don't need the optical drive so I replace it with a 9.5mm 2.5" SATA 2nd HDD Hard Driver Caddy in place for the DVD Optical Bay so I have 1 HDD, 1 SSD, and 1 MSSD.

L.F. New 2.5" /9.5mm (SATA) 2ND HDD HARD DRIVE Caddy/Adapter For DELL Latitude E6400 E6500 E6410 E6510 E4300; DELL Precision M2400 M4400 M4500 Series

Cons:

The fan is loud and it really doesn't shoot out any really hot exhaust . The fan comes on max settings too quickly. I've had computers that have had double the heat temperature come from a vent and there seems no way that this computer should get to 70 degrees Centigrade.

There is an easy fix to this though. And that's for all T-series laptops.

It's right here but it's spoken in German:

Simply you need to download the latest version of fan speed control:

Right now the latest version is .14.4.6..

Download that and put it on the recommended settings on the manual. This machine has no reason not to have a bios update doing the same process.

Seriously, I've had multiple gaming computers like the Asus G53 series, The Dell XPS 16 series, etc. and they put out much higher temperatures of fan exhaust than this one by far. Maybe it gets hot because of the touchscreen running both the processor and the HD 4000 integrated graphics but don't ruin your cpu/motherboard by putting the max fan speed too low.

Once you downloaded it and put it at the Sony E series default (that's good enough) you need to set it up to automatically start up every time you turn the on button on.

Read that and you'll be all set.

Update:

The fan really does get loud. I was pulling 80 degrees centigrade while I was just using internet explorer with multiple tabs open. There is no IPS screen like the S series. I rarely use the touch screen and it does not look good in sunlight so I'm switching to an S series with IPS screen. IPS screens you can view from all angels.

Sony VAIO VGN-FW455J/B 16.4-Inch Laptop - Black

Sony VAIO VGN-FW455J/B 16.4-Inch Laptop - BlackA couple of months ago I decided to upgrade from my toshiba satellite laptop. I was going to buy another toshiba until I came across this during my research and decided this laptop was the best bang for my buck. What do I like about it? Everything!! I love the large memory and the 320g hard drive is double of my toshiba. I don't regret jumping from toshiba brand to sony. The built in webcam and microphone are great. They work perfectly with aim, yahoo, and skype. I was easily able connect to my wireless router without reinstalling the software. The only downside is the battery. I will be ordering a large capacity battery soon. I can't wait hook up my sony hd camcorder and start editing my home videos. I would definitely recommend this laptop to friends.

All in all, its good value for money

Just remember to upgrade the wireless adaptor drivers from Intel as the default one keeps dropping connection.

Buy Sony VAIO VGN-FW455J/B 16.4-Inch Laptop - Black Now

Short and sweet, this laptop kicks @$$!!! For the price, you go so much included in this bad boy: Blu-ray player/burner, video with 1GB dedicated RAM, 16+ in screen, 4GB RAM upgradable to 8GB, decent sized hard drive, I mean the list goes on. Just look at the description and you see what you get. I think for 1000 dollars this computer is well worth it. One bonus, don't know for how long, but if you buy now you should get a free upgrade for Windows 7 when it is released. If you haven't already heard, it is getting great reviews. So if you don't like Vista, you can hold out for 7 when it gets released in the fall. If you are looking for a laptop, look no further than this Sony Vaio. You will love it.

SAMSUNG Series 3 NP305E5A Notebook AMD A-Series A6-3420M(1.5GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB H

SAMSUNG Series 3 NP305E5A Notebook AMD A-Series A6-3420M(1.5GHz) 15.6' 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 6520GI bought this laptop because it was almost identical to my Toshiba P745 (which I had purchased nearly 6 months before) for my sister for her birthday. Laptop runs great, the only thing I have to complain about, and this is more than likely a firmware/software issue, is that her windows OS reset itself and she lost all of her saved files. The computer had reboot into some sort of recovery mode I assume and we had to set up the computer again just as if we had just bought a new laptop. Other than that we haven't have any issues with it. Shipping was also very fast, I was hoping to get this before Christmas and luckily I received a few weeks before.

Samsung NP-QX411-W02UB Laptop - 14" LED backlit - 2nd GEN i5-2450M - 6GB RAM DDR3 - 1TB HDD - WIN 7

Samsung NP-QX411-W02UB Laptop - 14' LED backlit - 2nd GEN i5-2450M - 6GB RAM DDR3 - 1TB HDD - WIN 7 HP 64-bit - SilverI have been looking for a new laptop for some time now. Trying to find a computer that is well-built, has great battery life, plenty of RAM and memory, and is a good price is a pretty tall order. I've looked at all brands, ASUS, HP, Sony, Lenovo, Dell, even Mac. Macs were too expensive, as were the Sony models that I looked at. It came down to a decision between ASUS and this Samsung. However, with the metal construction, and very well put together body, this feels very solid.

Battery life has been outstanding! 6 hours+ with the screen on full brightness. Graphics look great, videos are smooth with no lag or problems. DVD drive is very quiet, and boots up quickly. Very speedy processor, plenty of RAM...TONS of hard drive space. This computer has been flawless. I have a Samsung phone, and several other Samsung products, but this is the first Samsung computer that I've owned. I'm very pleased with it!

Well, I did not bought it from here but it does not matter. The computer has been great before I found out (after the return policy period) that the battery is faulty -it only last for 8 minutes after I unplugged the power cord. The reading dropped from like 78% directly to 8% without intermediate values. I sent it to Samsung for repair, and they seem to repaired the battery to an OK status (last for like 2-3 hours), but brought new problems -the LED lights (wifi, hdd and Numlock indicators) stopped working. I complained and sent it back to repair again, they claimed nothing is wrong and sent it back "directly", but I found out that the LEDs started to work properly, but the battery is now completely dead, even worse than the first time -it won't charge at all. I completely stuck to my desk with a laptop that is without any mobility. I tried to get a replacement from Samsung and they wouldn't let me, claimed that sending it back to repair again was the only thing they can do. Frustrated.

So if you bought a defective Samsung product, don't bother to repair, just return it or have an exchange from the dealer.

blazing fast and reliable, I simultaneously installed 5 programs flawlessly! now if only I could get a better router so my internet wouldn't slow me down! I would have preferred a different trackpad layout, one with dedicated buttons rather than one huge trackpad with lines to specify where the left and right click is. choppy gameplay when running "slender" at average graphics, perfectly playable lower than that. can run "Battle for middle earth 2" flawlessly at ultra high graphics. can run "minecraft" at acceptable framerates at decent settings. not a hardcore gaming computer but will definitely stand up to casual gaming and other programs. I'm having a hard time making the processor use more than half of its potential power! usually uses about 1000mh of its 2500mh speed when running a couple of programs at once. I would recommend this product to anyone!

--UPDATE--

5 to 4 stars. I returned to bestbuy because I felt I overpaid for it. Its very durable, has a large hard drive, and has a long battery life, but thats about it. It is frustrating to the extreme.

Edge E520 15.6" 500GB 4GB

Edge E520 15.6' 500GB 4GBI bought this business laptop for my personal use two weeks ago. I'm so impressed with its performance. Typing is really fun on this laptop! It takes a bit of time to get used to the keyboard as my older keyboards are quite different than Lenovo's.

The red pointer in the middle of the keyboard is extremely helpful! I don't think I will ever use the regular mouse-pad.

This laptop comes with a Intel i5 processor, 500 GB of hard disk and 4 GB of Memory; perfect specifications for my daily use.

What I really liked about this laptop also is how quiet it is! You hear no noise at all. The fan seems totally mute! The laptop does not get hot at all even after many many hours of usage!

Lenovo is surely a great company who knows how to manufacture laptops that will last for long times. Their ThinkPad line of laptops in my opinion is the best.

If you are looking to buy a laptop with a decent price, I recommend this one.

This is the one! I spent a lot of time researching a replacement for my 4 year old 17" Toshiba Satellite. I was impressed with a colleague's ThinkPad that I used a couple weeks ago and decided to look for a Lenovo rather than what would have been my third Toshiba. What made this particular E520 stand out was its Intel Core i5 processor and low price. There are many E520s with the Core i3 processor and also many E525s with AMD's Fusion processor for slightly lower prices, but they are both entry level entry level processors. I probably don't need the extra processing capability of the i5 but it is nice to know that it is there and I always try to buy things that are slightly better than middle of the road.

The 4GB of RAM is plenty, but a 4GB upgrade was only about $20.00, so I went ahead and ordered to max out the system. Windows 7 Professional, Bluetooth, and the fingerprint reader are nice extras that you won't likely elsewhere for the sub-$600 price tag.

Amazon Marketplace's partner Abe's of Maine exceeded my expectations by promptly shipping my order, I received it one day ahead of Amazon's earliest delivery estimate.

Being a self-taught techie I have used, abused and destroyed many top shelf quality products. I currently work in very unforgiving and hostile environments, with heat, dirt, dust, moisture and more mosquitos than I know what to do with. Over the years I have had the top of the line laptops such as Asus Pro, HP Elitebook, Panasonic Toughbook and the infamous Getac. All were great laptops, most were milspec but eventually they all had issues. Cheap parts would break prematurely, Hard Drives burn out, optical drives quit working. Last year I wound up down range with my Panisonic tough book and started having major issues. On my next trip through the states I ordered a Lenovo W520. This was a lot heavier than expected with the 120w charger and large long lasting battery pack, but a year later is near indestructible. It has been to the mountains in the cold, deserts in summer and on planes, trains and automobiles. The most taxing of which are the family road tirps where the kids in the back seat are using it for a movie player. When my wife needed a new laptop I didn't hesitate and shop around trying to get the best deal I could, I when straight for Lenovo again. This time I settled on the less rugged E520 series. Amazingly I stumbled upon the best price I could and bought hers for aroud $550 from Amazon. The seller had it shipped and delivered in 56hrs and my wife was back on line and skyping with me by the end of the week. This machine is not the best on the market but for the price it is a very good value. Thus far it has survived a toddler juice incident that her old HP or Ideabook would have taken like Fukushima meltdown. My personal W520 has drains in the keyboard for these, the E520 does not but has some technology that helps in these situations.

Though Lenovo is not the best on the market I feel they are one of the top line manufactures. If you are looking for a very well built machine that is tough and can take abuse look no further.

Laptop is okay for it's price. But I want to write about the warranty lenovo provides.

After 10 months of use, mouse pad started behaving differently. So I created case with Lenovo as my Laptop was still covered under warranty. My case was pending with billing department for review (Though I never got the call for this). When I called them up after 8 days, they said that they found substance inside the laptop; hence it's not covered under warranty. And biggest joke that repair cost will be 900 dollars.

My first reaction was that I got it for 500 dollars and they want me to pay 900 dollars for repair. What on earth this makes sense !!

I had also sent the new keypad in the box and requested them to replace my old keypad with new one as some of the keys had come out. That also they were not ready to do. ALL or NOTHING.

Okay.. Then I requested, do not repait my laptop; Just swap the keypad. BUT NO. They Cannot. ALL or NOTHING.

Pissed off and asked them to send my laptop back unrepaired.

DO NOT Suggest LENOVO to anyone for it's sheer unwillingness to help Customers !!

Never experienced such bad support in my life yet .....

Lenovo Thinkpad E520 that were manufactured in the last quarter of 2011 have a faulty EEPROM chip. This means eventually the laptop won't start up. Lenovo has recognized there is a problem, but will not replace the faulty chip if the laptop is out of warranty. My E520 was two months out of warranty when it quit working. Lenovo informed me I will have to pay them to replace the chip that was faulty in the first place. Beware!!

Acer eMachines E525-2200 Notebook PC - 15.6" LCD / Intel Celeron 900 2.2GHz / 3GB DDR2 / 250GB HD /

Acer eMachines E525-2200 Notebook PC - 15.6' LCD / Intel Celeron 900 2.2GHz / 3GB DDR2 / 250GB HD / DVD±RW/CD-RW drive / 802.11b/g Wireless LAN / Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bitI was looking for a fairly inexpensive laptop and came across this one. Originally I had seen it on ebay, but it was more expensive, so I checked Amazon. The laptop has an older processor, but I don't see any difference in the speed compared to a much more expensive and newer laptop that my husband just bought that has the newest processor out. The only con to this laptop is that there is no built in webcam, but its an easy fix. Just would have been nice if it was built in. Other than that, I love it. It works great and the design is awesome. I would highly recommend this to any person looking to purchase it for enjoyment. (I.E. surfing the web, downloading music, print pictures, etc.)

I purchased this computer a couple of weeks ago and I have to honestly say that I love the hell out of this thing ! It was a great deal, perfect size ( larger than your normal notebooks) and has everything you need on it ! I also purchased a nice router to go along with it. It is fast, clear, nice size screen, great resolution, battery life is about five hours.. I am very, very pleased with this computer !!!

Not a ton of features, but has a fast enough processor for web surfing and MS Office. Goes to sleep and comes back to life quickly with Windows 7. Good alternative to a netbook that has a micro-sized screen. I also have the Acer version (straight Acer brand, not Acer eMachines) and it is almost identical to this laptop, but has an AMD processor. I think this processor feels a little faster. Just wish the processor was a dual-core. Also beware that the screen resolution only has a height of 768, which by today's standards is a little short. But for the money, you can't beat it.

I bought mine for about $300 and so far its been a great laptop. My 4 year old watches DVDs on it and cartoons off youtube and its great for surfing the web. It has done everything I have asked it to do and is actually faster than my desktop with a dual core processor. Ive pretty much put away the desktop. It starts right up and shuts down in the blink of an eye as well. My only problem is with the touch pad which seems finicky but I hear theres a fix for that...Im just too lazy to try. This was an excellent value, it does more than a netbook will and at about the same cost. If you just need a basic setup then this is it.

Just got this today. As a test for the processor and ram I downloaded Wow. It runs at about 23 fps. Which is better than the desktop I had that had an AMD processor. It is a new experience working on Windows 7. It is pretty nice, but will take a little bit to get used too. Over all very satified at the moment.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 15.6-Inch Laptop (Dark Chocolate)

Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 15.6-Inch LaptopSeems good (you know, as long as you ignore the Windows 8 start menu), but I've had problems with the laptop since I first got it 2 months ago. There are battery problems... which Lenovo knows about considering there is a firmware upgrade on the web site... but this did not fix my problems. My laptop won't boot unless it's plugged in. The battery is fine; I can unplug it after start-up and run on battery for a normal period. I guess the computer just isn't reading the battery correctly (tried a battery reset too which didn't fix it). Annoying, to say the least. I am currently in customer service purgatory (I just want a replacement, not a fix), so we'll see how that goes. My last two laptops I bought old refurbished Dells which ran wonderfully. Last time I buy a new one! Grumble grumble

Lenovo (formally IBM) tends to make pretty good laptops. I use mine for business and it does the job. Can't complain.

The computer is ok but I could be in the middle of something important and the settings menu comes on the screen and then it goes to the desktop. Very irritating.

I actually bought this laptop off newegg a couple weeks ago, it has a decent feel and a solid build for the price. Things start getting annoying when i see it has UEFI with secure boot, add in the fact that you have to unassemble the whole thing to reach the hard drive and memory for and upgrade and you can start to feel they really don't care about the customer. But its not until you call customer service that you really notice it, i called after upgrading to an ssd to get my Windows 8 product key which they did no provide even though you're being charged for that license in the price. They kept insisting i had to buy a new license, which is completely unacceptable when they have already charged you for one. On another attempt the catch for a sale was a Recovery Disk which they sell at an exorbitant price, was never included with the purchase and its far from what i want on my machine, I wanted a clean windows install not a bloatware fest.

Its a case where the customer service is so bad i dont' think i'll ever buy another lenovo product.

ASUS G53SW-XN1 Notebook - Intel Core i7 2630QM 2.00GHz 15.6" Screen, 6GB Memory, 500GB HDD 7200rpm,

ASUS G53SW-XN1 Notebook - Intel Core i7 2630QM 2.00GHz 15.6' Screen, 6GB Memory, 500GB HDD 7200rpm, DVD Super Multi, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GBI got one of these laptops to set up for one of my relatives and I have to say for the price it is amazing. It has a very powerful graphics card (GTX 460). The laptop is of high build quality. It is a little bulky but it is very sturdy. I prefer sturdy construction to thin and breakable.

The laptop is lightning fast and handles anything you can throw at it. The only downside is the garbage software that comes with it (but it comes with every laptop). After uninstalling it though the problem goes away. It is full HD resolution (1920x1080), and even has some extra features such as a back-lit keyboard. It also comes with the standard ASUS warranty which is 1 year accidental damage, 2 years parts/labor. No other manufacturer comes with a warranty like this out of the box, but in reality it's not needed, the laptop has very strong construction and looks exactly like a stealth fighter. If you are on the fence about this one, I recommend buying it. I have worked with computers and IT for 10 years.

This laptop is awesome, it is very fast and can handle practially all games out for pc rite now and more. asus has done a great job with this laptop. the 2 fans in the back grealtly help cycle the heat as well as the aluminum case helps absorb the heat and keeping the surface cool. very quite and fast. does not shut of due to overheating like some previous asus laptops.

The best laptop in its category with a price to beat any other out there.

Powerful, fast, sleek, quite and cool, simply amazing.

I'm sure this laptop would've been great, if I hadn't received it with a broken screen. Sent it back and got a Qosmio with a larger screen, and couldn't be happier.

HP 15.6" Pavilion G60-519WM Entertainment Laptop PC

HP 15.6' Pavilion G60-519WM Entertainment Laptop PCI purchased this laptop about 3 weeks ago. I have been well pleased. I am a light PC user and basically surf and purchase on line. Set up was a breeze. I connected right to my wireless. I downloaded my camera disc and love looking at my vacation pics. So far, so good. Good luck, and I hope this helps. There were no reviews when I purchased, so I was a little nervous.

Bought at Wal-Mart for $298 on Black Friday. Set-up was simple. Works great. I like Windows 7. Boots fast. No card reader or HDMI connection. Still great buy.

I purchased two intending to give one as a gift but did not, i'm selling the 2nd one instead. I was amazed at how quick and painless the setup was right out of the box. First time I havent had to call tech support. My wireless internet was recogized immediately, I only had to input the password and it connected, no software needed. Windows 7 works great. The only disappointment so far is no built in card reader. Very thin and lightweight, boots up fast. For basic computing, internet, audio, video, it does the trick.

I have had this laptop for a little over a year and it is a piece of crap! The keys fall off, the screen has gone black and the part that connects the screen broke. Do not buy this laptop, its not worth it, unless you want to put more money into it than its worth.

ASUS Q500A-BHI5N01 15.6-Inch Laptop

ASUS Q500A-BHI5N01 15.6-Inch LaptopI bought this laptop from Best Buy back in November 2012 and I just love everything about it from the backlit keyboard which makes operation easy in a dark room at night to the ease of Windows 8 Professional. It is definitely a worthy purchase if you are a student or otherwise.

Its a 750Gb laptop not a 500GB I owned and it says 677GB free space on hard drive. LOL XD

I bought my ASUS Q series laptop from Micro Center in Chicago, refurbished but felt very much like a brand new machine. I was only looking for an affordable laptop that was up to date and better than my Dell Inspiron 1200, which frankly was good enough for what I needed it for. This ASUS blew me away. Windows 8 is far easier to use than all the reviews I had read, since I was coming from XP PRO and was very used to it. W8 is a total breeze, easy to use OS. The 2 x 3.0 + 1 x 2.0 USB ports plus the HDMI port along with the SUPER DVD drive is a perfect setup. This is an amazing laptop and I definitely recommend one. Also the black ALUMINUM shell is better than all those HP, etc. hard plastic ones. Its lightweight (was shocked at how heavy my Dell was in comparison) and the backlit keyboard is terrific. I got mine at Micro Center in Chicago for about $479.00 i5-750G HD, 6G ram. Also, when I fired it up the laptop was right at home with my ASUS RT-N66U Black Night wireless routerif you're looking for an incredible router, check it out. AMAZING!
