Dell Inspiron 17 i17RM-2903sLV 17.3-Inch Laptop (Moon Silver)

Dell Inspiron 17 i17RM-2903sLV 17.3-Inch LaptopI've ordered this notebook on February. Very satisfied with It. One thing makes me annoying is the fan speed, but It is easly fixes by updating BIOS from DELL official web-site. Now there is no heavy fan speed! Just perfect!

I guess it is the fan in the computer. It makes a lot of noise. other than that it is great.

Excellent Product! That's all I can say. Mine not as noisy as other reviewers have claimed theirs to be. Very quiet machine.

Works great a a computer should. The "keys" are a bit too sensetive, and sometimes skip around. I have been unable to lower the brghtness level on the computer. Other than these too features, it is great...works great, and is fast.

Hp - 15.6" Pavilion Laptop - 8gb Memory - 750gb Hard Drive - Natural Silver

Hp - 15.6' Pavilion Laptop - 8gb Memory - 750gb Hard Drive - Natural SilverI have only had this a couple weeks and I like it a lot.

Things I like about it:

the keyboard is easy to type on

you can turn the mouse off when writing something so it doesn't act erratic if you rub your palm against the touchpad

it has fingerprint password entry

it has the ability to use the touchpad to go forward, back, make pictures bigger and smaller etc.

it is very user friendly

it was easy to set up

The one thing I do not like about it is the screen and that's a big problem: it is very reflective; too reflective.

I don't know much about lap tops so maybe there is a plastic covering or something I can put on this to make it less reflective. If that can be done then I'll adjust this review up to 5 stars assuming I find no other problems over the next few weeks.

Overall it's a good computer and if I can resolve the overly reflective screen issue then I will give this 5 stars.

UPDATE:

I've had this a while now. I fixed the screen reflective problem by buying an anti-reflective plastic layer that fits over the screen. I bought it online and I don't remember the name of the company (it was a private vendor, not amazon; do a search for "view guard").

The only problem I've had with it is the trackpad not responding to tapping to select a link or open a folder etc.

I downloaded a new driver from the hp web site and that SEEMS to have resolved the problem. If it does not and I continue to have problems I will post another update . Meanwhile you can assume I resolved the problem.

This is a superb laptop. HP makes pretty nice machines this is very unique in with most laptops feeling so cheap this one really feels like a lot more then the $750 or so it retails for. It has a very good processor in the i5 and HUGE RAM at 8GBwhat that translates to is a very enjoyable and fast/responsive experience. I would not have felt cheated had this been priced art $1000. Make sure you get this one though as there is a little cheaper one out there that is very similar.

KEYS to why this is such a great machine:

Lightweight and slim design.

Processor i5 with huge RAM = great performance

back-lit keyboardand a really nice one

HDMI A must have these days allows you to connect to TV also has VGA

3 USB 3.0 = everything going the way of the 3.0 USB this has 3 so your covered/also one 2.0

fingerprint reader

"Just very well built = doesn't feel cheap, looks great."

It's one hell of a bargain! Be sure you don't get the wrong one thoughthis one is the BOMB!

The HP Pavilion m6 adds some high-end details from HP's more expensive laptops, while keeping the price down. This is a highly configurable system, with options for discrete graphics and fast CPUs. This near-ultrabook packs in processing and graphics power, along with an optical drive, at a reasonable price. The only real knock against the Pavilion m6 is that some of HP's higher-end systems hardly cost more but it's not a bad choice. Especially considering the affordable price and not a lot of them offer mid-range to high end specs like the Pavillion M6 does.

I have 2 of these, the wife and i both. Mine lasted 3 months before I had to have Best Buy replace my HD. Now the wife's is doing the same thing. Takes 20-30's just to boot, then it wont do anything in less then an hour, web browser, pull up pics or anything. Mine did this same thing until it just wouldn't boot anymore. I could understand one was just bad luck, but to have 2 different ones needing a new hard drive in less then a year. Not a good sign of quality.

I purchased this HP Pavilion computer (M6-1045DX model)from Best Buy for my daughter to use at college and within one month the screen had cracked when she inadvertently left the headphone plug in the computer when she closed it. Naturally I had to replace the screen with my coin. Six months later our dog stepped on the cover of the closed computer and the screen cracked again.

5 Years ago I purchased my older daughter a dv6000 series Pavilion for college and besides having to replace the CPU fan once the laptop has been running strong to this day.

Frankly the specifications for this unit are pretty impressive but the computer is as fragile as a graham cracker. One just has to do a minor search on the internet/E-Bay to see how many vendors are selling replacement screens for M6 Pavilions as a testament to the number that get broken.

I truly regret purchasing this laptop as now I have to buy my daughter another more reliable/rugged laptop for her second year of school.

Fujitsu Lifebook AH532 Notebook

Fujitsu Lifebook AH532 NotebookBut I'm not impressed with Windows7. Would have given a 5 with XP. At least windows has a site for research for issues that does help. Also wasn't impressed with the packing it came in. Just the cardboard around the styraforam end caps. Maybe that is sufficient, it seems fine. Only had it a couple of months. Still trying to get control of my own computer away from microsoft. XP wasn't this obnoxious. I've almost dumped microsoft several times. I did buy this understanding that Linux would work. My last Fujitsu lasted over 10 years with daily use...all day all night sometimes, constant travel. Did have it on a cooler immediately, as is this one. Amazon is great, & vendors on time. Received case early. I love the full size keyboard & the separate number pad. So far it's wonderful, I'll update later if I can. If you use a wireless mouse...disable touchpad. It's a windows glitch. For the quality I've experienced in the past, you can't beat the price or the machine.

Dell - XPS Ultrabook 13.3" Laptop - Intel® CoreTM i5-2467M processor - 4GB Memory - 128GB Solid St

Dell - XPS Ultrabook 13.3' Laptop - IntelĀ® CoreTM i5-2467M processor - 4GB Memory - 128GB Solid State Drive - SilverThis ultrabook is incredibly thin and light & has a smaller footprint than most 13" laptops so it is perfect for the person on the go. Even tho this is last year's model w/ Win7 & 2nd generation processor, it is still plenty fast. The carbon fiber bottom keeps it cool & the backlit keyboard is very handy. Seem to get about 6 hours of battery life and the tiny ac adapter charges it relatively quick.

The screen resolution is on the lackluster side but they did release a HD version this year for those who want it. The mouse clicker is a tad on the loud side but so far no real complaints.

Great ultrabook at an incredible price if you do not mind not having the latest greatest tech.

it looks very pretty and it is really slight and thin, however, the storage is very small, only more than 100 GB and it's a little difficult to split to more disks, but I think that'll be OK for just work

Samsung NP355E5C-A01US Laptop (1.7GHz AMD Dual Core E2-1800 Accelerated 1.7GHz Processor, 4GB Ram,

Samsung NP355E5C-A01US LaptopMy first day working on the NP355E5C and it's not as slow as I feared it would be. It has a low end AMD processor so I was worried it would be annoyingly slow to use. So far I've installed Windows updates and ClassicShell to make Windows 8 usable and performance has been ok.

The 5400rpm 500GB Hitachi hard drive with 8MB cache is a pretty standard part for inexpensive laptops and it's kinda slow. If this was my daily use computer I'd be tempted to upgrade it to an SSD drive.

I was surprised such an inexpensive PC has Realtek gigabit for wired ethernet and it has bluetooth in addition to two USB 3 ports and two USB 2 ports. That's better connectivity options than other low end laptops.

The screen is bright and clear. I'm not a touch typist but the keyboard is working well for me.

The Elantech track pad has frequently quit tracking my finger until I lift off and put my finger back down. I've not found any setting in the control panel that helps.

Update 04mar13: I'd hoped I could find a way to add Windows7 but this laptop uses "Secure Boot" making it difficult and expensive to get Windows 7 installed. It looks like I would have to turn off Secure Boot then reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows7 from scratch with a retail Win 7 disk. It appears I would then loose the ability to use the provided Windows8 installation. Think I'm stuck with Win8. I'm using Classic Shell to help make Win8 more usable. That makes it pretty much like Win7 but still a little weird. On the upside, every program and tweak I use in Win7 is working in Win8 so that's cool.

I'm still having the problem where the trackpad stops responding until I lift my finger. I'm getting used to doing that but I hope someday a driver update will help with that issue.

Update 08jul13: Downgraded from 4 stars to 1 star. I've given up on this thing. The trackpad has never tracked right. I tried driver updates & setting changes but cannot get it to work smoothly. I have to use a mouse. Then one day the screen went solid white then solid black. I could only see the desktop when I plugged in an external monitor. I called Samsung and set up a warranty service return to get the screen fixed but after a few days and many reboots the screen started working again so I had to cancel the return. The screen has worked perfectly ever since but I no longer trust this laptop to be reliable for travel. This past week I noticed the CPU is always working at half speed, .8GHz instead of 1.7GHz. Turns out the power plan keeps reverting to the Power Saver plan after I set it to the Performance plan. I can't find a way to get the Performance power plan setting to stick.

I like Samsung, they make a lot of price/performance winning stuff. I wanted to like this laptop, but with the poorly performing trackpad, the unreliable screen, & the CPU speed issue, this laptop is just too frustrating.

It is taking us a bit of time to get used to the new Windows format; however, the machine is pretty quick. I'm not a techie, so specifics, i can't give. I got this computer primarily because my daughter loves to create animated videos with Windows Movie Maker while listening to a constant stream of music from Youtube and chatting with friends on Facebook. Works well for that.

this laptop is great! I do like windows 8 AS IT IS LIKE MY WIN smartphone. WIN 8 operating system was so easy to learn! I do believe though that if you do not use a mouse than WIN 8 does frustrate you because it does switch screens back and forth too easily and when you do not want it to, (NOT SO WHEN USING A MOUSE)! This computer is slower so if you want it for business purposes you may want a faster processor and more memory but for an everyday laptop computer this one meets all the requirements! also in WIN 8 it is so much easier to install and uninstall programs and apps than in WIN7! People who complain about WIN8 are probably the high tech people who learned WIN7 completely or dummies (like me) don't want to take the time to learn WIN8! Just give WIN8 2 weeks and you will begin to like it!

Dell XPS 13 XPS13R2-1100sLV 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Silver Anodized Aluminum)

Dell XPS 13 XPS13R2-1100sLV 13.3-Inch UltrabookThis laptop seems to be working wonderfully so far. It's screen is crystal clear, with a 1080p display. The processor is nice, too, running on a 3rd generation i7 Intel processing chip. I really love the way the keyboard is laid out as well. Can't complain much about this product, except that it lacks some inputs and ports that could've been convenient. However, I don't think that this is a major flaw of the device, as one could simply purchase a USB Hub for a cheap price. Also, the reviewers complained that the laptop is flawed because it lacks touchscreen capabilities. I don't really find this to be too big of an issue, though.

Pros:

1080p IPS Screen

SSD is FAST! 500~ MB/s read, 450~ MB/s write in my tests

Boots in under 8 seconds, shutdown in around 3

Feels very solid built, no cheap plastic feel

SecureBoot can be disabled!!!

Almost 0 bloatware installed from the factory

Cons:

Only con is minimal, and is the trackpad and how I use it. The palm rest detection setting made it so it would sometimes not register my clicks, but after shutting that off, the thing works fine!

Overall this is one of the nicest laptops I have ever owned, and would easily recommend it to anyone looking for a ultra-powerful ultrabook. This thing is light, looks sexy, feels very well built, and is extremely fast!

Asus Eee Pc 900hd

Asus Eee Pc 900hdI purchased an ASUS 900HD nine months ago and it has seen very light use. The power supply quit working about three weeks ago. I submitted a help request on their Web site and after waiting for three weeks with no reply, called them. The woman I spoke with tried to trouble shoot the problem (try a different electrical outlet duh) all of which I had already tried. Then she told me since it was nine months old, the battery (understandable) and power adaptor (not understandable) was out of warranty (six months for 'accessories'). I told her I was extremely unhappy and asked if she would like to make an unhappy customer happy for the relatively low price of a power adaptor (retail $49.99, their cost = much less). Nope. So I went online to the Web site she provided and they are out of stock. So now I have a paperweight until ASUS can restock power supplies. My question, which I will never know the true answer is: Why are they out of power adaptors? Is this a systemic problem? For the light use this adaptor has seen in nine months (actually it started giving me intermittent problems in eight months)this is a very poor product.

I have had my netbook for around a year, running often at over 100 hours at a time. In all of this time with constant use, I have come across very minor problems.

Around four months in, the A/C adapter that came with it had burned out, but I replaced it for relatively cheap with an off-brand adapter.

Aside from that, my netbook has occasionally stopped responding to its volume commands, but I found that restarting fixes it.

Overall, this netbook is very durable and can be used for extended periods of time. I have yet to overheat mine. I do suggest that you are prepared for replacing the A/C adapter, however.

This pc looks sleek and compact but it hanged most of the time. The battery does not hold the charge good and the processor is very slow on window Xp. Lately, after I downloaded the microsoft framework files and window explorer 8 version, it did have improving the speed of the processor and I noticed it did work a little bit faster.

I know I get what I pay for, but I didn't expect this netbook to be basically disposable. I had problems with the touchpad and click keys not responding within the first couple months. I sent it in for repair and got it back without anything seemingly having been done to it. After a few more months, add to this that the computer would intermittently behave as though the shift key was stuck (I think you can't realize how many problems this creates unless you try itvery difficult to use the computer for anything!) Since it was intermittent, and was my only computer at that point, I waited a few more months to send it in. They sent it back and it wouldn't even start up after I removed it from the packaging! They now refuse to repair it since by the time I received it back the warranty had expired (although they sent it back more broken...). It starts up now, but only runs for 20 mins max before crashing for a few hours.

It's a cute little pocket laptop, but be aware it seems to be made of the cheapest possible components (expected for price, but still frustrating). Also, be aware you can only reach support in the middle of the night (I never once got through at any time of the day, with 20-30min wait times at least). I always call after midnight; the people don't know anything about computers, but they're fairly polite.

I expected this netbook to be low-quality based on price. Low rating is mainly for refusal to repair what they broke. I suggest saving up a little longer and putting money towards a less extremely-feeble budget laptop (or for mobility, maybe a smartphone? even smaller, similar quality).

Dell XPS m1530 laptop. TUXEDO BLACK. 15.4" Widescreen Thin, slim, & light notebook computer. Intel

Dell XPS m1530 laptop. TUXEDO BLACK. 15.4' Widescreen Thin, slim, & light notebook computer. Intel Core2Duo T5450, 2GB RAM, 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, 250GB HDD, Slotload DVD+/-RW, Wifi-G, Bluetooth, 2.0MP Integrated Camera, 6-cell Battery, Express Remote Control, 8-in-1 Card Reader, Vista Home Premium, 1 Year Warranty.I got this computed in December 2008 to replace and HP Pavilion that had major problems and was stuck in HP customer service repair limbo with me sending it back and forth to the service center. The HP lasted 14 months and had better features but when it overheated apparently due to a defective Nvidia graphics card that is in present in thousands of units of many laptop manufacturers. One day in October 2008, the thing literally stopped functioning and required major repair work just to boot up properly. Not wanting to waste anymore time with HP, I opted for a Dell XPS 1530. The problems with this laptop are many and the HP had better features such as better response with the touchpad and also DVD ROM drive that played any disc even poorly recorded DVD-Rs. I've had many problems with my Dell's DVD Rom drive and it even scratched a few of the regular DVD's I've tried playing.

Last month, the Hard Drive had a major failure and required to be remounted. Dell Customer Service sent me a new hard drive within a week, but it was only 100 gig replacement. The original hard drive was much bigger than this and now I have a computer that is already running low on disk space. I'm not sure how long this machine will last and given the history of Dells that I've used in the past 5 years, every computer (whether desktop or laptop) always has a major problem every 12 months or so. It is like servicing a 4-year old car, but it isn't even a year old. And this how they make all their profits selling warranties and charging for extra repair work for the cheap aftermarket components that they install in these expensive laptops.

Other negatives about this laptop include sticking keys that sometimes won't work correctly until you press on them firmly. The dashboard on the laptop is not very responsive, mainly the volume control as you tap on it multiple times and it still won't respond sometimes. The DVD playback while working initially, didn't function and started to suddenly scratch my DVD's and so I stopped using it. The keyboard is also feel somewhat cramped and the touchpad is smaller than my previous HP and less responsive. This model of laptop also has been commonly known to overheat and I have measured the temperature using a 3rd party program and found it hitting some strangely high temperatures. This apparently is an issue with the Nvidia card and it apparently shares the same model (GeForce 8400 GS) as my old HP.

The few positives about this laptop include the fact is doesn't weigh a lot when carrying it. And it performs faster than standard Dells such as the Latitude line which take a lot of time doing basic functions such as multitasking with spreadsheets and Email. I would recommend this laptop to anyone who is doing very basic tasks for school, word processing or work related activities that don't require massive amounts of memory to complete. Be sure you have an external hard drive to back up you're data and purchase an extended 2-3 year warranty. It will literally stop working within a year.

HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1131nr Laptop (AMD A8-4555M Accelerated Processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 15.6 HD

HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1131nr LaptopThis laptop is way beyond my expectation. Before bought this laptop, I had a Dell Inspiron 17R-6472DBK. Since the Dell 17R is so heavy and slow for my daily use, I have to buy a affordable new laptop. I only spend 580 on this one. And the performance is just great.

This laptop is thin and light. And compare to my wife's HP ultrabook, the screen is bigger and much more clear. The 15" LED screen is bright and clean. I don't know what to say. Thanks to the technology. I can not use my old laptop outdoor in a shine day because I can barely see nothing. However, now I can bring my laptop to the outside of the library.

And I was expecting a heavy fan noise since it is a hp product. However, it runs very quietly under regular use. Maybe the newer CPU helped a lot. I don't feel the warm or the noise. It just perfect.

This A8 cpu runs very fast. With the win8, it starts in seconds. I run Matlap, Ansys and ArcGIS with it. Not a single problem at all. Maybe my old computers are too old? I just feel it so fast and enjoyable to use.

The audio speaker is loud and clear and the camera is clear as well. I don't know what else I would want from a 600 product. It's just perfect.

Thanks HP. You make my money worth.

ASUS X301A-EB31 13.3-Inch LED Laptop (Black)

ASUS X301A-EB31 13.3-Inch LED LaptopJust got this laptop a couple of weeks ago! The screen is pretty nice (1366x768), because its so small the 1366x768 screen looks pretty crisp. I cant complain about the keyboard its very good, however I would like it to be back-lit! The performance is what I expected it to begood for almost anything except for games, I'm a student so i use it for writing and surfing the web and it does the job well! Battery life is great reaches 5 hours however that depends on how u use it! Its fairly light, its not as light as an ultra book, however its lighter than a typical 14 inch laptop and can be carried in a bag easily. It has a great selection of ports. I would like to add that it looks much smaller and thinner than it does on the above pictures. On the negative side it had a lot of bloatware! I installed a fresh copy of win 8 Pro and now it runs smooth. In addition to that the black version is a fingerprint magnet, i cant say that for the white version. I did have some issues with touch-pad driver and the Bluetooth is nonexistent, but i didn't try installing it because i never use it -I don't know anyone who does! The track pad does the job well, its not a MacBook but its smooth and precise! Otherwise i would recommend it to any student that wants a light laptop with solid battery life.

I was looking for a light weight laptop to get everyday tasks done but didn't want to spend too much money. This felt like it fit the needs perfectly.Alas' once I got the product, it was such a big disappointment. I have used ASUS tablets and thought this laptop will be of similar quality like them. But this laptop is made of plastic and doesn't feel well built at all. Moreover, it takes a while to boot and the key board is not very comfortable. I could go one but whats the point, it ended up going back to Amazon.

Many have already reviewed this machine. I will not do so. Rather, the results of using this machine are most important. It runs windows 8, doesn't have a touch screen which would take care of all its possibilities. Regardless, this thing blazes through all kinds of business and other stuff. I didn't want to get involved with Office 2013 so I loaded up on a CD rom version of Office 2010 and I am happy to be blazing away. Have three other computers, a blackberry an android smart phone and all kinds of other gear which can be ported to the usbs on this machine. hanging off the side is a 1TB Seagate drive. I do a lot of video and photo work and this will park that material before I upload to the desktop with photosho cs 6. Have been in use for several months and acquired this at a super low amazon lightning deal price.
