Apple iBook G3 500Mhz 128MB 10Gb CDROM 12.1'' OS X OFFICE 2004 Plus Upgraded Models AvailableThis little white computer rocks. Don't know where they got them from, and how they are able to sell them for so cheap. I hope they didn't fall off the back of a truck. (Just Kidding.) I'm very impressed, though. I've been a Mac user for 8 years. This is just another example of Macs great craftsmanship. I would suggest this Mac to anyone who wants to have everything and be up-to-date in the Mac world without paying $1,2000 and up. There's only a few minor suggestions I have: download the newest software after installing Mac OS X Tiger (It costs about a $100 bucks.), google search Firefox and install it, and go to apple.com and search in the support section for this Mac, iBook G4, so you can get the user's manual. That's about it, and it will be running like you paid $1,400 for it.

And where are the blemishes!!??? I didn't see any. Awesome deal, awesome Mac. You guys rock!!!

This computer is byfar the BEST laptop I've ever had. Being a college student it was imperative that I find something cheap but good. And the fact that I was able to find a Mac at such a low price still amazes me. I got mine today and it works like a dream! You can surf the web incredibly fast. Save alot of music, plays dvd's nice and crisp. Wireless is very simple and easily acessible. I just love it and I would recommend it to anyone!

Ps. This laptop would be perfect for a college student!

Received this product and i had some problems, the airport card wasnt functioning so i bought a new one, then the computer needed software, which i didnt figure in having to purchase. So, for me it was disappointing, but i sold it to my sitter, and she got a great deal, she was very pleased to own an apple, i was very happy to go back to my pc w/microsoft fuctions. So, guess its up to you, if your an apple fan, and already familiar this is a great product, and for those of us who havent a clue about the apple software etc..this is a real pain to convert. I have to say it was nice and small, and for me that was what i wanted for my college work, and it was light weight.

I purchased an iBook for college, being an Apple user since 2006. I've tried PCs on the side, but programming on a Mac is top-notch and really professional with XCode. This isn't even mentioning usage and speed! My new iBook runs like a charm! I can run Windows(R) XP (in an emulator, of course), Safari, iTunes, and several other apps at the same time, with plenty of speed left. Try that on a PC!

I think this notebook is really the Apple version of a netbook--only WITH a CD drive. It's still about as small and light even with the CD drive.

Plus, it came with all the aethestics looking great, as well as the hardware. It's about 7 to 8/10 cheaper than a MacBook as well, so if you don't want to buy a MacBook, then get an iBook!

However, new PC users need to check out Mac Help from the Help menu, then click "New to OS X?" and then click "Windows switchers" to get started. The trackpad tends to be more sensitive on here, so make sure your hands are clean before use. Just to let you know.

Finally, if you like gaming or need a big screen, the iBook is not what you'd be looking at--in that case, look more at a MacBook Pro. But if you want a computer that 'just works', get an iBook.

Acer TimelineU M5-481T-6642 14-Inch Ultrabook (Gun Metal Gray)

Acer TimelineU M5-481T-6642 14-Inch UltrabookPros.

Sleek, pretty, and thin.

4lbs, very light compared to older laptops but kinda heavy when in my backpack, I'm looking for a new backpack designed for laptops now.

Runs COOL. I've used the laptop in bed, on top of my blanket, and it did not get hot and fans did not kick in at all.

Make sure you calibrate the battery when you first get it,

(Drain out the battery until it turns off, charge it while its off until the blue light comes on telling you its full, and charge it an extra 10 mins after that.)

Battery life is awesome, I just charged it, shows I have 8 hours and 47 minutes left.

The laptop was exactly what I needed, also best bang for your book laptop.

Cons.

Track-pad is weird, I have to click a little left from the middle for my left click, the left corner will not register but the right corner will register for right click.

Back-lit keys bleed a lot, unlike my old dell XPS 16.

Not so easy plugging in the power in the back, you have to use some force and I'm afraid to bend the pin.

So far, this laptop is everything I'd hoped.

Pros:

Great battery life

Very cool on bottom of unit. Not uncomfortable at all like some other/previous laptops I've used.

Backlit keyboards.

LOUD speakers.

Good display brightness.

I have changed out the ram and hard drive with an 8GB ram chip and a 256GB crucial M4 SSD. Now it's up to 10GB of ram (2GB must already be on the motherboard). The SSD is just stupid fast...restarts are around 20 sec. total. Definitely a necessary upgrade (speed and no HDD clicking noises). Taking it apart was quite a task. There are some ribbon cables that need to be paid extra attention to when taking it apart. I recommend a very competent computer/IT person doing it.

Finish is very simple and elegant. Computer will be easy to clean and doesn't show fingerprints very much.

The only thing I wish is that they made this model (Ultra M5) in a 13.3" model with no DVD player. If you want the best battery life, go with this version over the one with the discrete graphics card.

I did a lot of research in making the decision to purchase this Acer Timeline U, and I have no regrets. I was looking for: 1) affordability, 2) weight, 3) battery life, 4) processor and 5) sleek design. This laptop met all these aspects. I love my first laptop and carry it around the house. (LOL). I did exactly as others suggested and Acer's manual and that is to charge up the laptop and drain the battery all the way down for 3 times to get the maximum battery life. The advertisement is 8 hours, but I've gotten between 6.5-7.0 hours. Not bad, and I'm happy for that. Once I get over the excitement of having a laptop, I will use it for watching movies on long airplane flights and editing photos on the road. It has a lot of memory. My only complaint is the mouse pad which I'm sure is user error. I am still getting accustomed to a tracking pad, as I've always used a mouse. The tracking pad is sensitive, so I bought a wireless mouse (Logitech Wireless Mouse M305 (Floral Spiral) (910-002465)) that works great right out of the box. I traveled with the laptop last week and it performed perfectly. So, I give the Acer 5 stars.

I want to express that I'm not a computer expert just a casual user looking for a sturdy, good performing laptop that's portable. The TimelineU gave me everything I wanted and I'm so happy I bought it. There are a few small things that could have been different or better.

Appearance: When I ordered this, the laptop turned out to be brushed nickle, not black as advertised, but I actually don't mind it. The color, or perhaps the material, does get dirty easily. I enjoy the chiclet keys, and the screen is very bright. The touchpad takes some getting used to and is sometimes overly sensitive. The left-right 'mouse' buttons are hard to find and you have to hit just the right spot for it to register otherwise you might just be hitting the touchpad. Also be aware there is no side scroll on the touchpad to go up and down on a page, you have to use the up-down arrows. I think I might go back to using an external mouse. I thought I wouldn't like the USB and charge ports in the back, but it's better than taking space up on the sides I have a small desk where I need every inch of side space. The 14in screen is excellent not too big, not too small, and the weight is comparable to a Mac Pro.

Performance: Compared to my old laptop (I hadn't bought one in four years), this laptop is faster by far. It only takes eight seconds to start up and five to shut down. I'm glad I chose the stronger core ( Intel Gen 3 i5) over the extended RAM that others have RAM can always be upgraded later if I need it. I haven't tried any PC games on it yet, but I didn't by this laptop for gaming just casual web surfing and writing. When unplugged, the laptop will automatically dim to low, but that function can be manually switched off. As for the battery power, if it's unplugged and you're just surfing the web, the battery life is more like 4hrs, not 8. This is still better than older, heavier laptops, but don't be fooled by the advertisement.

Overall, the TimelineU M5-481T-6642 is extremely efficient, portable and aesthetically pleasing for the everyday user. If you don't mind cleaning it often and can get used to the touchpad (using a traditional mouse if a fine alternative), I highly recommend this laptop.

Had it for almost a week now and I'm loving it. Everything that professional reviews have said I've found true. Great battery life, awesome graphics (for a non-gamer), sound quality great. I feel like I got the quality of a Mac in a PC and at a PC price. It has also been traveling great. Substantial frame for an ultra book!

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's looking for a smaller lighter lower priced PC.

Dell Latitude D430 Core 2 Duo Laptop with XP

Dell Latitude D430 Core 2 Duo Laptop with XPWe needed a computer at work to do nothing but handle files between our server to a 3TB external back-up drive. Bought this guy to do that function. A small burble was that it came in with Vista on it, and we need XP ... after a quick call, this was revised quickly, and we are up and running. Very nice customer service. Quick response. Good packaging. Very clean refurb laptop that works well. I recommend these guys to anyone.

Purchased this little laptop from Data Sales, because I wanted a smaller, lighter and more solid laptop than my Inspiron 1545. The latitudes are made of metal, like the terminator. You will read other reviews of this particular machine that say "it's slow, it gets hot, wah, wah, wah..." Yeah, it is a bit slow by today's standards, and yeah, it gets a little warm, but it's also 5-6 years old and it cost you $130.00! It's also light and solid and mine came with a docking station with a CD rw/DVD rom! (yours may not) The computer arrived super fast, well packaged and with the docking station that I wasn't expecting. Data Sales obviously practices the policy of under-promising and over-delivering as the condition was listed as "used-acceptable" and minus a couple of minor blemishes on the top of the case, the condition is excellent to like-new. Mine came with windows 7 pro (yours may not), I dual-booted it with crunchbang linux and it spins like a top. At some point I'll replace the HD with a SSD and I'm sure I'll get many years of web-surfing, pandora listening and e-mailing out of it. For $130.00 I couldn't be happier.

Dell Latitude E6430 - 14" - Core i7 3520M - Windows 7 Professional 64-bit - 4 GB RAM - 500 GB HDD -

Dell Latitude E6430 - 14' - Core i7 3520M - Windows 7 Professional 64-bit - 4 GB RAM - 500 GB HDD -I spent some time with this machine when I set it up for a customer we bought it for. The machine I am reviewing is the "s" model, which was custom configured for the customer.

This is the newest variant of the Latitude business-class notebook PC's. The e6430 is designed to have the same footprint as a 13" notebook, but sports a larger 14" display. It's still really compact, although not as thin or light as a competitor's notebook, but that's ok because this isn't designed to be an ultra-lightweight machine. It's still about 4 lbs, which is a couple lbs. lighter than the E6500 or D5500 series Lats. It's pretty thin, not as thin as my MacBook Pro though.

It's made mostly out of plastic, which isn't a bad thing because plastic is lightweight and durable, and if you drop it, it won't dent or deform like an aluminum or aluminum-clad machine. The top of the display cover and some trim pieces are clad in brushed aluminum though, and that makes it look really nice and adds some scratch resistance. You still get the same features as the bigger Lats like the weird pointer button and finger buttons above the trackpad, which is also programmable for multitouch input (pinch to zoom, rotate, etc.). It's a little small, but that's not a problem as I found it really easy to use. The trackpad mouse buttons and palm rests are coated in soft touch rubber, which feels really nice. The keyboard is backlit and has 3 brightness settings. It turns off when you aren't using it though,. The keyboard is sealed underneath to protect the components inside if you splash or spill something on it. The permimeter of the laptop is also reinforced with plastic and the display lid is sealed to the chassis with a rubber seal. The screen lid locks into place with a sturdy latch system. Overall, this machine is very well-built and the build quality is top-notch. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy, or fragile like some other laptops. I wouldn't feel so bad if I dropped this one as it would probably just scuff the plastic trim whereas with a MacBook or other "unibody" machine, you'd get a big ugly dent.

The OS is Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, which we chose because the RAM is only 4 GB. It will take up to 8 GB, and with only 4 this is still a smoking fast machine.

The 14" display is 1366x768 LED backlit LCD display with the anti glare coating, which for a machine in this price range is just mediocre. There are 2 USB SS 3.0 ports, a VGA, eSATA, mini HDMI, and ethernet ports. It includes a 8x super multi writer drive (DVD R+RW. CD-R R/W) that reads, writes, and re-writes CD's and single or dual layer DVD's. The internal hardware is what makes this machine so great. Inside is Intel's 4000 graphics chip, and one of the most powerful mobile CPU's on the market. The E6430s is configured with Intel's 3rd gen Core i7 3520m quad core CPU 2.9 GHz 4 MB cache, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, Dell's 1520 802.11 g/n single band mini WiFi card, and the optional Dell Mobility 256 GB SATA 6 gb/s solid state drive (SSD) which was a $600 option and brought the price to this machine up to a hair under $2,100. I also tested this in the less-powerful i5 2.8 GHz CPU and standard hard drive and it's still extremely fast. It performs like a $2,000 laptop should.

The hardware makes this a smoking fast machine. From POST to Windows desktop is a hair under 8 seconds. Apps and large resource-hogging programs like iTunes and Photoshop didn't slow it down at all. Installing things like Windows service packs, updates Office with service packs was very fast. I'm an IT tech, and can honestly say this is the fastest machine I have ever worked on, and I've had my hands on some pretty impressive computers. It will do everything you ask it to and a lot more. It's not an ultra high end entertainment or gaming laptop like the XPS line or Alienware. It doesn't have a super high res screen, super thin chassis, or made of exotic materials. This is designed for a business user as a mobile workstation, and perfect for anyone who needs a fast, portable, rugged, no-nonsense machine with good battery life. I ran this computer without being plugged for over 2 hours and the battery gauge barely moved. I have no doubts this would last for 6 hours on a charge. Plus, it's easy to use. The keyboard isn't cramped and the palm rests are sufficiently large. Dell also doesn't ship their computers with loads of bloatware or unnecessary trial programs that expire, or are just annoying. You can tell that Dell designed this to be a mobile workstation. It also works with the port-replicator dock thanks to the connector port on the bottom, so you can mount extra USB devices, 2 monitors, or other devices when you want to use it like a desktop.

The 14" screen makes viewing documents easy, and is a lot nicer to work on than an ultra book or netbook. However, for a machine costing $2,100, I wished it was thinner, lighter, and had a better display. This is supposed to run with the MacBook Pro 13 and even 15, and I think it does a great job at it, but I think Dell could have done better. The i5 model of this is just as fast and it's about $300 cheaper (minus the SSD).

Pros:

Latest Intel i7 mobile CPU

Fast RAM

SSD

Lightweight

Fantastic build quality

Nice display

Good battery life

Dell quality

2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and eSATA

Able to connect to Dell's port replicator dock

Cons:

Display is just mediocre

Could be thinner and lighter

A little on the expensive side

I have no reservations recommending the Latitude 6430s. It's a no-frills, solid, well-built, and high performance business computer, but will be equally at home in your home as much as the office! Check out the new Latitude E6430 line before you shop elsewhere. They might be more expensive, but you do get what you pay for.

This was a big leap from my refined ultrabook lifestyle. I tried this out and was blown away by the performance. The battery lasted me, quite literally, all day and that was with me running a plethora of tabs and applications.

What I Love:

-Rugged Design, seems like it can withstand anything

-Built to last

-Perfect Size, easy to just pick up and go

-Price on Amazon is much lower then what I have seen at other places

-All the ports I could ever need

-i7 Processor doesn't disappoint

-Battery lasted me all day (approximately 9-10 hours of constant use)

-Screen has superb visibility inside and outside

What I don't Like:

-Over 6 pounds (I really don't mind, but others may)

Overall, 5/5 Stars

I have been a loyal Dell customer for over 15 years. The E6430 is about to change that. This laptop is the product of a cost cutting exercise. The screen is the main problem. At 1600x900 it's smaller than that of the E6410. The laptop lid size, however, remains the same. There's now a ridiculous strip of wasted space above the screen, the only purpose of which is to make it hard to open when used in an airplane. The screen contrast is abysmal and has a unpleasant "checked" quality to it. The E6410 has an excellent, sharp screen.

I will be returning mine.

I made my purchases directly through Dell.

I have been a loyal Dell customer since 1999.

Prior to the Latitude E Series Lap Top Dell really had a reputation for building a machine that could be a dependable work-horse.

I have purchased several E Series Latitude note books and I have to tell you. THESE MACHINES ARE POORLY MADE and WILL MALFUNCTION all the time.

I have spent 100's of hours on the phone with tech support with the E series note books. I have had technicians perform onsite service and I have had system replacement. None of this is convenient. It has cost me thousands in lost productivity.

I can't say it enough DO NOT BUY A DELL NOTE BOOK!! You will regret it.

A partial list of Issues that I have had -

1. Mother Board Replaced due to Wireless Malfunction;

2. Mother Board Replaced due to Overheating;

3. Mother Board Replaced due to Finger Print Reader Not Working;

4. Complete System Replacement;

5. Returning a machine to their repair depot only to get it sent back to me with a completely malfunctioning hard drive they made no attempt to notify me that the PC was not fixed; and

6. Complete Hard Drive Replacement.

PS. This is only one of several E Series note books that I use on a regular basis. They all have similar issues. Some of the issues are present right out of the box. Dell makes no effort to ensure that the system that you buy is configured the way you ordered it. Here is the kicker if you are willing to spend a day on the phone with them, they will walk you through the configuration that you bought and paid for when you purchased the machine. In other words, you get to work for Dell but don't get paid.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3-Inch Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook (Gray)

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3-Inch Convertible Touchscreen UltrabookDespite great hardware & format, I'm sending this unit back to Amazon. Constant wi-fi disconnects from the Realtek wi-fi chips in the unit I received have made it impossible to download large files or watch streaming video longer than 10 minutes. Getting the wi-fi reconnected after a disconnect requires manually disabling and re-enabling the wi-fi adapter each time.

99% of the Yoga is excellent:

The laptop/tablet hardware and format is excellent. Quality screen, hinge, and touchpad. And compared to the ultrabooks with hybrid drives, the performance boost from having a full SSD drive is excellent. I've only had the laptop for a week, but the SSD seems to help with battery life too, as I'm regularly getting over 6hrs per charge (as long as I turn screen brightness down).

Big problems with units with Realtek wi-fi chips:

A number of threads on Lenovo's own forums had months-long support threads related to wi-fi connection interrupts. That was on the original release batches which all had Realtek wi-fi chips. Lenovo has replaced those with an Intel chip on newer batches of the Yoga 13 and the disconnect issues are fixed on those devices. Amazon unfortunately appears to still have the Realtek chips in the units they're shipping (as-of the end of March).

So, until they get the newer batches with Intel wi-fi, stay away from the Yoga 13 from here.

I recieved this machine two weeks ago and have really found it to be excellent. From the battery life to the multiple operating modes, I have had nothing but good things to say about it so far. There are several negatives with the installation of the applications, there is a lot of "crapware" included in the install. It also comes with Office 2010 pre-installed, you need to purchase a key to activate. I purchased an Office 2013 key and everything installed quite nicely in a matter of about 15 minutes.

Other than those couple of things, I have had no problems and have enjoyed Windows 8 in laptop mode, tent mode watching a video and tablet mode taking notes (with OneNote) and drawing diagrams with a stylus.

A very versatile piece of hardware with a lot of great features.

Buy Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3-Inch Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook (Gray) Now

My view-Buy this rather than the Surface by Microsoft, or the Samsung tablets, this is much more solid. It's a solid laptop, plus a decent tablet. Microsoft uses the Yoga in their advertising as I think they realize Lenovo pulled off the best ultrabook/tablet in creating the Yoga. My spouse and I compare the yoga and Macbook Air, they are similar in weight, performance, and I think the Yoga 13 or 11 is really the best ultrabook to date. I have 256GB hard dive memory, i7 processor. Get all the GB you can as Lenovo hogs some of the hard drive with their own stuff so get the 256GB hard drive if you can afford it, and then add a 128 GB high speed flash and that is enough storage to work with for most of us. It boots super-fast, processes video capture super-fast, and can run 3 streaming videos at once without bogging. Windows 8.1 comes out and it will ship in June so just make a note to download that update, as not many of us like windows 8 out of the box but it does perform really well if you can just figure the damn thing out.

Pros: it's fast, touch screen works well even though finicky but between that and the big glass touchpad it works really well, very light and lean, feels sturdy well-built with good hinges, battery life is decent. Lookup adjustments for the touchpad after you get the Yoga, as just a few adjustments are important on these new touchpads but I like their sensitivity once I get used to it. I use the touch screen to navigate through Powerpoints and streaming video while teaching in front of a class and it is great to hold something in tablet form while teaching, or also great for leaning it up against something or putting it in tent position and watching a movie or sharing the screen with others. Screen is nice solid glass and cleans easily.

USB 3.0 and HDMI are awesome to have. The USB 3.0 dock accessory lets me work with 2 external screens plus the yoga screen so 3 screens at once in HD. I can have a movie going on one screen, work in PowerPoint in another and surf the web on the 3rd. Just plug the USB 3.0 from the dock in to the Yoga and all your peripherals (I use 2 screens, backup drive, wireless mouse and keyboard, external mic for podcasts, external HD USB camcorder and more) all work seamlessly. When you connect and disconnect from the dock your windows are not all screwed up as they used to be on the older docks. Windows 8 is smart that way. The dock also allows ethernet/Cat5 wired connection. Lenovo sells an ethernet adapter that you need if you travel (don't use the one from Cisco or Linksys that is sold on Amazon they don't plug and play with Windows 8-just start a chat with Lenovo shopping and they'll get you the right part and it is $17.99) and just carry that with you if you need cat5 or ethernet capability on the road). I carry a VGA to HDMI adapter as the Yoga has no VGA port and my university uses VGA in some classrooms for connection. Most of the thin ultrabooks took out the VGA and took out the ethernet, so those adapters are important if you travel. If you are anything close to a student or part of a school, you can get the accessories at a discount, just go to the Lenovo shopping site and start a chat and tell them you belong to a school and they take 10% off.

The internal modem is as fast as we can afford, we use centurylink 40 mbps and the Yoga keeps up with what the modem can deliver.

I've dropped this a few times, it's solid. I got the 3 year warranty just in case but I doubt this will break easily. Keyboard is pretty much sealed and I've accidentally dropped bits of water on it as well with no problem.

Cons: the keyboard is similar to all chiclet keyboards on most ultrabooks, not as good as the classic Lenovo full key Thinkpad keyboards and sometimes my fingers type on the wrong line, but it works just fine and for long projects I hook up an external keyboard or use Dragon Naturally Speaking-this computer can process dictation in real time really well.

-Main thing I don't like on this computer is that when you close the lid, the keys will leave marks on the screen. This is why they say you have to use the Slot-In case. What that case really does is covers the keyboard part, while you close the computer in laptop mode or close the computer in tablet mode-it protects the keys from either your hands when in tablet mode and from hitting the screen when you fold it closed in notebook mode. Or it can slide over the whole computer. The slot-in case is not padded, has places for accessories and power to plug in, and just provides protection for keys and screens depending on the mode you are in. It's not that big of a deal to use the case every time you close the Yoga, but if you don't you'll get these greasy keyboard marks in your screen and over time they become hard to rub out. I put tiny little felt pads just outside the keyboard of my Yoga, so when it closes it doesn't hit the keys. The Macbook Air closes and you don't' see keyboard marks so Lenovo needs to figure out how to do that as well. That said, having the Slot-in case is nice when you are in tablet mode as it does protect the keys and that's pretty much the only solution possible for these notebook/tablets that are trying to do everything. The case does provide something to put on your lap like a little laptop pad, so you don't feel the heat of the computer while you type. The fan and heat on my computer are not bothersome. And the case is made out of some pretty cool modern heat deflecting flexible material.

I'd buy this again, for sure. It's a great computer.

After one month I am very, very happy with the Yoga 13. I got the one with the i5, 256 SSD, and 8GB ram. I never liked having a notebook, a tablet, and a smart phone. That was just one device too many. The Yoga notebook / tablet combination works perfectly for me (gave the tablet to my kid). Most of the time I use the Yoga as a notebook. Sometimes I want the tablet function if I am in a meeting, speaking to a group, etc., or if I am using it to watch a movie or just surf. Either way, this thing works great. It is light. It starts almost instantly. I type many hours a day and have found the keyboard to be excellent. The screen is pretty good even if not great. The several different screen position options turns out to very useful. It is so thin and light that I can easily take it along with a file to a meeting or to court. The battery life is somewhere between tablet and old style notebook. I'm getting about 6 hours of use and that works fine for me because I plug it in at my desk. All in all, I really don't have any complaints.

I read about some of the problems others have had but I have not had any of the same issues. Wifi works great (I don't need dual band). I had an old notebook before, so maybe this unit is "hot" by some standards but I really don't notice heat from it all. I have not noticed any noise from the fan either, and I work in large quiet room by myself for at least 2-3 hours of my day. The minor issue about smaller right shift and backspace keys bothered my typing for about 24 hours but the adjustment was quick and now I don't even think about it.

As for windows 8, I think is is a good OS for this device. I have no trouble using desktop mode when I'm using the Yoga as a notebook and then hitting the button to switch to W8 mode when I use it as a tablet. The absence of a start button is really an overblown concern, I think. I found it pretty easy to get reconfigure so I had various options where I wanted them.

If you want one great notebook / tablet hybrid this is it.

I guess its my fault, I jumped into purchasing this laptop without fully realizing my needs, but you get some of these basic needs with a Mac book air for the same price.. Just a warning, I did own a mac book pro retina, but I really wanted a touch screen laptop with windows 8.

Pros:

Kind of cool with the multiple ways you can rotate the laptop, tablet, tent shape etc. (until you've done it a few times). Its not something I see myself doing very often.

Love the texture of the the palm rests and keys.

Love the touch screen

The keyboard feel is great except for the location of the arrow keys ( see in cons).

Cons:

No 5ghz wireless? Really? In 2013 a 1200 dollar laptop doesn't have a dual band wireless? (I get 44mbps over 2.4 ghz wireless, my internet speed is 110mbps, and I get that with 5ghz). that's why this is a big deal.

Touch screen is finicky, it doesn't always work, and it takes multiple taps to get the proper area for buttons which is annoying.

The touch pad, You can tell there is a lag, just not as much polish as what im used to. The 2 finger scrolling is not nearly as polished.

The fan noise, oh the fan noise is so bad, its non stop. It doesn't matter if its idle or doing something more intensive its always on and audible. It gets hot on the lap too, the position of the fan is intake and exhaust is in the bottom back, my mac book never got this hot unless it was either running windows or doing something like watching youtube videos for an hour.

The up arrow on the keyboard just right of the right shift key, just under the right side of the Enter key, you hit it all the time and it gets so annoying.

Performance wise, if this laptop is doing anything else in the back round, like installing windows updates, might as well just leave it alone, the lag and hesitation with button presses, say trying to minimize a window, you think it didn't register the command, then it does the command as many times in a row as you requested it about 8 seconds later.

No back lit keyboard (but it is interesting as a way around this they made the letters on the keyboard reflective from the light of the screen, as a result you can see the letters almost as if they are illuminated. Pretty smart.

Overall this laptop, its interesting, and kind of neat at first. But functionally I would much rather have more performance, no fan noise or less at least.

I should of done more research, but I guess when you are spoiled with these features of a laptop, you forget its a feature, not a standard one. They chose to get the hinge that folds back right, but it seems they left out some features one would thing is standard in 2013 on a 1200+ laptop. This isn't a budget 400 dollar one.
