Lenovo Z570 10249QU 15.6-Inch Laptop (Gunmetal Grey)

Lenovo Z570 10249QU 15.6-Inch LaptopI have had mine for a little over a week now, and it all works as advertised. Not cheap, but you can't get this performance cheap. I need the 8 G of RAM for my computing. One quibble; the "Caps Lock" indicator is a tiny LED, with a hard-to-see dark icon near it. It could use a larger indicator, such as the one it does use for Audio Mute.

******

Still have had it for several months, with no problems.

******

Now had it 6 months, no problems. I think people re-review things several months after the purchase, to see if things go wrong.

I've just hours with this laptop, but I'm really pleasantly surprised. Easy to install, and it seems that his behavior was what I expected. Your keyboard seems small for my large hands, but I get used to and really feels great. Your processor meets as a whole-I5 2nd Generation Intel. Your comfort is right and is very sturdy. I've actually required at these times and everything is perfect. It is gratifying to say that I do not regret this purchase. I always think that at startup you know the car and myself think of computers. Easy to start. Easy to configure. It comes almost ready. Further details of communication ports, LED status indicators, the touchpad mouse are appropriate. Neither more nor less. I really think what I like is the feeling of reliability. Ahhhh! ... It is also absolutely silent. I can not talk about the battery yet, but if the price. I think it's a fair price. Do not remove a penny, and I think they give you anything either. But if you meet more than half of that expected in a LENOVO, I already won. I started LAPTOPS for all brands, from old IBM, GATEWAY, DELL, TOSHIBA, ACER and HP. And this I think it meets the good experiences in the simple and easy to start and conditioning for the average user.

4/26/2012: I've had this laptop for 6 months. I should add that the camera is the most poorly I've seen in a laptop of this level of technology and price. I had to buy a decent webcam with good resolution and capabilities, simply because the resolution of the webcam that comes with the laptop is 0.3 megapixels which is ridiculous, to say the least. I do not like now shift indicator lights, numlock, CapsLk, power, wireless, because they are very small and / or less obvious and not well located, but this is a very minor detail. And finally, the touchpad is not the best. The laptop itself works fine, but the support page online lenovo've had difficulty finding clear support, downloads available in an easy way.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Lenovo keeps the Idepad Z570 series and seen on their official website and other Web sites, with different versions of the Z570 equipment. I do not know better than this model, but I do know is that its price is held feature LENOVO with slight differences depending on the vendor marketing ranging up to about $ 100US. Very normal in this type of product, BUT I still can not believe that this model: (Z570 10249QU) has appreciated?. It's the best news, which only indicates one thing: LENOVO products are rising curve. This certainly indicates that they are doing well and most importantly, customers are willing to pay for quality among other things. CONGRATULATIONS to the happy owners of a LENOVO. Now if a real UPDATE: a. I52430M second generation processor, it really is good, but it just does. I expected a better performance compared to AMD, I have two more Laptops: HP and Toshiba, AMD and a Dell Desktop, also with AMD. You see, I'm a fan of AMD and Intel I wanted to try a 2nd Generation, to compare and enjoy what they promise. Actually, normal performance, nothing that excites me, but nothing that disappointed me. In place. Some updates Drivers are not well digested by the stomach of my Lenovo Z570, and what bothers me is that your page has not been easy to find all the drivers I wanted, although there are necessary. Well, for that there are thousands of programs on the market that do this, but BEWARE! ... That's where you can lose your money and your LAPTOP.

b.-CONCLUSION: I still love. Not with the intense love of the first two months, but still in love. It is tough and portable, its look is good, and although I dislike Webcam has improved with new Drivers. The sound of your speakers is good in line average to good but not upset me. It is a mature love that understands what is and what you paid.

Although I know I need to, but I haven't even had a virus protection installed yet.

HP Pavilion dv6-6150us Entertainment Notebook PC (Silver)

HP Pavilion dv6-6150us Entertainment Notebook PCOffice Max just started to offer this model for about $650, which is very good for the features. It's fast and has an i5 processer with 6 gigs of ram. The fingerprint reader is really neat. It has USB 3.0 connections which is nice if you have an external drive for backup that a USB 3 connection. The battery life seems very good although I haven't tried to see how long it really lasts. I like the "clean" look of the design. The aluminimun case seems to stay clean. There were some programs I didn't want, but they were not hard remove. The speakers sound good, but are not particularly loud. (I have noticed that they have been getting a louder, as they are being used!) I was a little disappointed to find that Microsoft Mail no longer comes with computers. I would have used it, but g-mail or Mozilla Thunderbird work just fine. I tried windows Live Mail, but can live without it.

UPDATE: After several months the computer would not shut down properly, so it had to be returned under warranty. HP fixed it without charge. After 11 months, it issued a little puff of smoke and stopped working. I returned it and again HP fixed it with no charge. After about 12 months the fingerprint reader stopped working. I did not try to return it again. I really like the computer performance, but have be a little disappointed with the breakdowns. I probably will buy another HP someday, but I will look at the Toshiba's too...

Really good product for the money. Totally worth it. Runs World of Warcraft very well and is responsive enough to finish my timed Exams.

I've had this laptop for around a week now, and it's been running very well. It's more than able to handle basic tasks like web browsing and word processing. Video playback speed as well as gaming performance (in Portal 1 and 2) is also excellent. The built-in fingerprint scanner makes logging in to my Windows account as well as my other online account very easy and secure. I would prefer Windows 7 Professional instead of Home Premium, however. The built-in webcam is somewhat below par with a high latency and underwhelming quality. But those are just small gripes that are easy to overcome. All in all, it's a great laptop

Want HP Pavilion dv6-6150us Entertainment Notebook PC (Silver) Discount?

My dad actually gifted this laptop for me (broke college student definitely needs one). As a college student, I need something dependable, and I am also a mom, so I need something tough. The hp pavillion dv6 works for me. Since I am on this thing atleast 5 days a week I wanted something easy to use. There are a few downfalls which I think others have mentioned. The first is the touchpad. The left/right click don't have any seperation at all (my other computer there was a small piece of plastic in between so you could tell which one you were using. Even after I have had it a year, I still notice myself right clicking when I want to left click or vice versa (nothing to upsetting though...just an annoyance.) The other thing I noticed is when I had a mishap with my screen. While it was closed, my three year old actually stood on it not realizing what he was doing which resulted in a crack. I left it alone for awhile because my computer was functional. Then I put my bookbag (containing my computer) on the back of door with a hook on it. When my bookbag slide off I heard a big thud. All of that is essentially my fault, but to repair it I bought a screen online (I was informed by the computer help store on campus they should ONLY be between 50-80, mine was about 55) and took it to the school to get it repaired which they did for free. Anytime I have gone in there and say I have an HP everyone groans. The word is that HP makes great computers but they are NOT meant to be taken apart. My whole computer had to be taken apart (about 20 screws and four different sizes) and once the computer repair man had my screen he said the screen was glued in. They told me usually computer companies will just screw them in, or maybe even have some clip or latch system. So they had to bring out a screwdriver looking tool that made plenty of noise ( making me very nervous) and pry off the glued on screen to install the new one. Then he had to put it back together. He also said in the fall there was a piece on the lower bottom enclosure (which is plastic instead of aluminum like the top of the computer) that broke. I could ignore it, but he said if it was his computer, he would replace it because it can sometimes put pressure on the LCD screen and cause the screen to break easier. I am grateful they were able to do those services for me, but HP's overall are just not made to be taken apart. Now I am searching online for a hardshell case, laptop bag, and a new lower back enclosure and am having trouble finding anything about this computer. There are a lot of products that are advertising for the gv6 6xxx series and not the 3xxx series so you have to be really careful because there is also a 1xxx and 2xxx series as well. Even though they are little snags I would say all around I do really enjoy my computer.

HP Pavilion DV7-2170US 17.3-Inch Entertainment Laptop

HP Pavilion DV7-2170US 17.3-Inch Entertainment LaptopI loved the look of this machine out of the box. It's thin, with a very large screen.

Pros: Huge Screen, designer case, fast cpu(ranked in top 30 for notebooks), graphics card(ati! 1GB of gddr3 ram!), good support from hp, 2 speakers w/sub,

hd audio, hdmi out, good screen resolution(1600x900), full keyboard, 500GB Hard drive, 4GB of ram.

It can run todays computer games very well. Applications open very fast. Very good integrated mic is very sensitive and can pick up anything.

Cons: low battery life, heavy, bloatware, glossy screen and chrome touchpad.

The battery life is way to low to really consider this machine something you would use on trips or flights over 2 hours long without plug

available. I also didnt think that laptops could be heavy untill I carried this laptop around the University of Texas campus. The glossy screen

reflects everything and anything making it hard to see the screen outdoors or near a window with bright light coming through. The chrome touch pad

is not as good as a plain jane plastic touchpad in that when you drag you finger, there is a little too much resistance for my liking( a little less

friction than rubbing your finger across the bottom of a shoe, unless your fingers are free of any residue, ie oils., then its smooth).

Overall this machine is a great laptop allowing me to keep my desktop off now since I purchased it. Even though my desktop is a high end gamming rig, this laptop has essentially replaced it. That being said, there are probably those of you who will not want to lug it around where ever you go. If you do, do purchase a laptop backpack as a brief case design even with one with a strap would tear into your shoulders. The battery life is annoyingly low, but is expected from a laptop with a large screen and discrete graphics card. If you want more battery life choose a laptop that has integrated graphics, but performance will be much lower. The only laptop out there that I have seen with performance and big screen, with an 8 hour battery life is a $3000 mac! Vista is no isssue here as the machine is perfectly capable of running it flawlessly. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ERRORS OR BLUESCREENS!!!!! The user who rated this machine with 1 star messed up his machine him self. He is obviosly a novice user. You only get bluescreens on computers due to user errors 99.999% of the time. I have had no issues at all with this notebook.

I ordered 2 of these laptops for my wife and I. The laptops came packaged very good, with no defects, and were delivered the next day after the order was placed. Both screens had no dead pixels what so ever and were perfect. All extra ports(useb, hdmi, ect) do not get in the way of each other. The laptops came with the hp mini-media remote, ac adapters, user guides, and pollishing cloths. Setup is a breese with HP's setup program. Do note that HP Games from wild tangent is much like a video game arcade, where you purchase tokens to play the games. 500 tokens a month for 6.99 per month. All antivirus software and office software is a trial version. I recommend unistalling the trial versions of office, hp wild tangent games(the games are not free!!!), norton(horrible, bloated, antivirus software), and the sling box software(uselesss without a slingbox for your tv). Free antivirus programs are out there.

I am giving it only 4 out of 5 due to the battery life. Otherwise you will not be disappointed. PC PitStop is a website that benchmarks computers, it ranked my system among laptops in the top 9% in the world, graphics got the top 3%.

Windows Vista Performance Index Ratings:

Processor: 5.2

Memory(RAM): 5.9

Graphics: 5.9

Gaming Graphics: 5.6

Primary Harddisk: 5.6

Any questions just comment on my post.

I researched multiple computers from several brand names and settled on this one. It came loaded up nicely and the price was very reasonable. Overall, I've had it almost a month and I'm really enjoying it. I haven't begun to explore all that it can and will do. No problems and it has been a pleasure to this point. I also took advantage of the Amazon account and got 0% interest... and apparently no payments (until the offer end date).

The computer itself is good. finger print shows easily. If you are looking to install engineering programs on it it is better off buy the HP Pavilion Dv7-2270us because it got the 7200 rpm HD. As for Amazon Company, it is one of the best to deal with. I sent an e-mail to the customer service and explain the problem with this model # (it has the 5400 rpm HD). Amazon issued a full refund including return shipment fees. Thank you Amazon for your service.

Great Laptop Performance. Fast for all entertainment needs. Huge and fast hard-drive and good monitor resolution. The webcam's capturing capabilities are not as neat as in other HP's models but still works great with all Instant Messaging and VOIP networks as MSN and Skype.

Great graphic imprint. The downside for the finished materials look is that this plastic is in particular too shiny and has to be cleaned constantly to avoid smudgy appearance.

Want HP Pavilion DV7-2170US 17.3-Inch Entertainment Laptop Discount?

First, let me qualify by saying 1) My experience with the HP Pavilion dv7 might be a fluke, and 2) Amazon doesn't seem to sell my exact model number, so I'm injecting the review here, because HP deserves it. My specific laptop is closely related to the one advertised on this page.

Normally, I don't write a review at all, if the product really sucks my experience might be a fluke, or if it's a book I might have misunderstood the intent. But this laptop has been such an inconvenience, that a bad review seems like real justice.

The battery is too heavy & bulky. The laptop had to be sent back several times; the first time, they 'fixed' the motherboard, the third time they had to replace the motherboard. It still has problems if you try to work with only the battery (i.e., the A/C disconnected), you risk the laptop suddenly shutting down even when the battery is fully charged.

There are other problems as well, and frankly the memories of wasted hours are too painful to drudge up.

I can't say great things about HP support, either. Oh sure, they try to resolve things, they aren't impolite or anything (although sometimes the accent gets in the way, so who knows if they are polite or not). But there's just too much back and forth, for many problems that you end up resolving with Google searches in an eighth of the time.

One great benefit this laptop will give you it will train you to backup your computer fairly frequently (I use Acronis for backing up & restoring, and it's a godsend), because you never know when you will have to send it back to the shop.

It was a bad mistake, choosing an HP laptop based on the look and feel of the keyboard, especially when past experiences with Toshiba have always been positive.

Try another HP series; steer clear of the dv7's.

Sony VAIO(R) VPCSA2SGX/T Signature SA2 Series 13.3" Notebook PC

Sony VAIO(R) VPCSA2SGX/T Signature SA2 Series 13.3' Notebook PCFirst let me start out by saying the color pattern will not be for everyone, for me it was not a problem, I'm not a spring chicken anymore and I'm definitely not trying to compete at the local coffee shop for the coolest looking fold away workstation. Sony doesn't do a very good job showing closeup photos in great detail on many of their machines, I suppose you want to keep suspense until you do your unboxing maybe. That being said, I can tell you this Signature Series is a little different. The top is kind of like the paint on a car, you'll actually be tempted to even put a wax protector finish on it to help prevent micro scratching. It looks much like an enamel based finish as opposed to most laptops that have some sort of artificial texture and material. The color on the top is a nice dark brown metallic finish. The bottom is plastic and painted dark brown which I like the color. The inside of the laptop surrounding the display is a nice looking copper bronze shade depending on the lighting. It's solid in color. Now, the main chasis color and material. The color seems to differ with lighting, sometimes it appears bright or light gold and other lighting makes it look dark gold or copper/bronze at times. The material here again, it's plastic. The fit and finish of this area is a bit different than your typical new S model that is molded out of one piece of milled aluminum, for starters is not one piece at all, it's actually a tub on the bottom of the chasis with one flat piece of what I will also call plastic that seems to snap over the bottom tub. This is a signature model so they can do whatever they want, but that is different than the typical S model design, unless this model was maybe released just before the new S model was released, I don't know for sure. At any rate, the appearance of the color and pattern on the keyboard area is a pattern of small squares or blocks that are 3 dimensional, they are not stick on designs or painted designs. The keyboard works rather well as most S models do, the keyboard lights up not only the character itself but around the entire key. Performance wise, it has a 256 gig SSD split into two "128x2" to make a raid 0 "zero" configuration which is much better than a stand alone 256. The machine boots very quickly, less than 30 seconds. It has all of the nice features on this laptop, it's loaded. The switchable graphics make it easy to dial in your demands.

In summary, this is not your fathers Oldsmobile! The performance is very high end and is an equal threat to it's bigger brother the Z. If you are comparing the Z to an S like many are, I have had both. The problem I have with the Z model is the short 1mm keystroke vs. the S model's 2mm keystroke. It makes a huge difference when your a speed typist like me. What I mean is if your trying to type proficiently like every second counts, I would say your going to have a huge adjustment on the Z model compared to the beautiful keyboard this S model has. The other reason I prefer the S model here is the lack of the separate power media block that the Z requires to utilize the speed graphics card and the blu-ray player. Also the Z doesn't have enough USB ports on the laptop itself, their are only 2 compared to 3 on the S model. I need a USB slot when I'm at home relaxing in front of the tv and I have my laptop sprawled out out my wife's favorite coffee table and I don't feel like sitting at my desk. I'll have my mouse plugged into one USB slot, USB powered speakers plugged into another and my laptop cooler in the third. I realize this is drastic, most wouldn't have that many plugged in, but I rather have that option since there are more devices that might also require a plug. By the way, the speakers on the S are way better than the Z model, however, I still recommend maybe a single capsule speaker if you like to watch a lot of video's since the S model speakers are still not that great. When I bought the Z before this one, I just wanted the Z for the quality build and the beautiful appearance, I thought I could live with the 2 shortcomings I just described, I was wrong. It wasn't worth the sacrifice. The reason I found it necessary to point out the difference between the two models is that you can have all the same equipment and spend just as much on the S model as the Z, so you have to at least consider both for that big of an investment. Now, getting down to the nuts and bolts of this Signature Series, the question is the difference in this signature series vs. your typical S model milled from one piece of aluminum. The one advantage for this signature is that the material doesn't make your hands feel cold when your sitting in an air conditioned room like the aluminum would. The aluminum models have kind of an anodized paint characteristic to them which can soil from your fingers, maybe just the oil in your skin or something to that affect, however the finish on this signature series should be quite easy to keep looking the same as when you first got it. This may be small to some people, but not me. I hate when my laptop doesn't look as good as the day I got it. The other benefit to this material is that it's light, I don't know if it shows on paper, but it just seems light for whatever reason. The other thing is I really like the unique colors and even though it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it suited me just perfectly. It's kind of like combining antique colors and textures with the best technology we are privileged to use. It's a real nice change away from the same old black & silver.

So Far I'm pretty satisfied with this machine, she scared me at first, because I took her to Best Buy in order to install an extra memory module. I looked at the bottom of the thing, and as I was doing that the geek squad guy came over and decided to help me. Well he took the bottom off and was like there is no space for an extra memory module plus the installed memory is soldiered onto the motherboard (which it appears to be anyway). Then he took the thing further apart by disassembling the keyboard and other components. Well he put the thing back together and walla the thing would not reboot, and after disassembling and reassembling the thing at least 4 times I decided to buy a Toshiba when the thing kept failing to reboot. Well following day I went back to best buy and lo and behold another geek squad technician not only got my Baby to reboot he successfully installed the 4 extra gigs of memory now this thing runs like a brand new Maserati. Then on top of that she survived the trip with me from Texas to Afghanistan, and before I left I ended giving the Toshiba to my girlfriend. So moral of the story never give up on your VAIO, because I was gonna mail thing to Sony and tell them to keep it, but now I'm in Love with my Baby (Sony VAIO VPCSA2SGX/T) :)

Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop

Dell Latitude E6400 LaptopI've owned my Dell Latitude E6400 for about six months now, and have been working with it almost daily -running a bunch of web development and graphics editing software. Have not had any issues with this laptop that would make me regret buying it, overall -very positive experience. The performance is solid, I had Win XP Pro on it, and now upgraded to Win 7 Pro, and it runs like a charm! The battery life is very good (I have a 9-cell battery) -the longeste I've kept the laptop running non-stop is 4 hours, and never needed to plug back in; the screen size (14") is a good balance for travel and working in comfort. The built-in wireless adapted sometimes needs to be restarted (there is a switch on the side -turn it on and off to restart the wireless, not a big deal at all), but I only noticed that this needs to be done after the system comes out of hibernation. I bought this laptop with a deep discount (it was refurbished by Dell), had some reservations at the time of purchase, but am a very happy camper now -no worries!

This is pretty much configuartion that I got and performance is pretty good with this laptop.

Lighted keyaboard had an impact on decission when I decided to buy this laptop and it is really nice and usefull feature that I was looking some time for it.

Pros:

Very stable, no reboots and doesn't get frozen even when moving/shaking it

Good metal construction --> no flexing

Good set of connection slots for perrifferrals

Backlit keyboard

Very bright screen but not the best color rendering

e-SATA external connector

Internal Intel wireless 5300 AGN WiFi card is excellent

Cons:

LCD display is somewhat washed out although very bright

It gets very hot even just browsing internet after relatively brief period. Poor ventilation.

Somewhat heavy for its size

Average battery life (little bit over 3hr of usage when just browsing internet via WiFi with standard battery)

Proprietary HDMI connector (need to buy separate pigtail adapter)

I have it almost for a year now and no crashes or some issues or glitches so far.

Overall very good business laptop.

I bought this laptop about 3 years ago and it still works fine I replaced my hard drive for more memory but it's only for people who don't do gaming because it lags a lot. So this laptop was meant for business, school, etc besides gaming. I would say this is a low end laptop not the best ones out there these days but I would say this is really light and portable I bring this every where with me every time my kids and I go to starbucks.

Want Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop Discount?

This was my first laptop and I'm not (really) disappointed. For a few more $$$'s I could have had a larger hard drive (this one being an 80GB) but no serious problem if you augment it with the 256 GB flash drive I chanced upon to use as my storage.. I haven't gone through everything that this laptop offers (forget the norton and use another product). For the price I'm totally satisfied with this Dell.. No built-in web cam but that's not a mark against it in my book as I do not use them anyway.

Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5C-S01US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Silver)

Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5C-S01US 15.6-Inch LaptopThe laptop out of the box looks amazing, very thin, about 0.1 thinner than the Macbook Pro (non-retina) version. The Intel i7 3615QM is extremely fast, almost as fast as my desktop i7 2600K (without overclocking). 6GB RAM is good for the average user, but graphics/design and game intensive users, it is a bit low. There is only 1 RAM slot, a 2GB DDR3 1600Mhz stuck in there, the other 4GB are on the mother board. So, if you want to upgrade, you need to buy a single PC3-12800 1600Mhz 4GB or 8GB stick to perform the best. It is a bit of a hassle because a single 8GB 1600Mhz for laptops are hard to come by at a cheap price. The screen is pretty nice with sharp colors, 1600x900 resolution is actually a plus for this laptop compared to 1920x1080 resolution. Why? This laptop comes with a dedicated Nvidia 640M graphics card with 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, it is a mid-range chip a bit slower than the 650M. At 1600x900, the GDDR5 640M can outperform a 650M at 1920x1080. Max Payne 3 and Metro 2033 ran smoother on this Samsung compared to the retina Macbook Pro with 650M set to 1920x1080.

The construction is a bit flimsy, thin aluminum screen assembly and plastic bottom. If you are considering upgrading this with an SSD, you have to be VERY careful. This laptop is equipped with a 8GB Express Cache mounted to the motherboard for speeding up load times. It does not do a good job, it is a Sandisk 8GB iSSD that reads about 110MB/s and writes 70MB/s with latency of around 10ms random read. Many SSDs today read and write well over 400MB/s with latency under 0.5ms, so you are stuck with a 8GB flash drive on your mother board pretty much... It is very tricky to work around the express cache when installing Windows 7 to the upgraded SSD without some sort of problem. If you look on Sandisk's website, the lifespan of this 8GB iSSD is well under 3 years with heavy usage everyday. You'd just wish Samsung charged $200 more and sold you a laptop with a 200+GB SSD installed.

With all that aside, the keyboard is very responsive and a plus with the full keyboard. The keyboard back-lit is nice. The mouse pad however is disappointing. It's got all the features like an Apple multi-touch pad, but so much less responsive and inaccurate at control. The ambient light sensor is a joke, either too dark or flash me with the brightest setting... The sensor software sometimes takes about 45 seconds to 1 minute to load with the stock 7200RPM 750GB Hard Drive.... imagine that... The Express Cache does not help at all.

The laptop runs dead silent. Samsung provides an option to only charge your battery only to 80% full to extend battery lifespan over the years, I feel like this is kind of ironic. The system comes loaded with useless software, deleting some of those actually speeds up the start-up time.

At the given price, it is still a good bargain system. Good for PC professionals.

I am currently typing on my new Samsung Series 7 laptop, and what a joy it is. I spent over a month extensively searching for a laptop that would meet all of my needs as an incoming college student studying engineering, and I found this laptop is the champion in that regard. I plan to use this laptop for heavy programming, moderate gaming, and needing something powerful that was portable and rugged.

Hardware:

-Intel 3615QM Processor-clocked at 2.3 but turbo boost to 3.3; this processor can handle anything you throw at it, while the fan stays very quiet and the heat output is minimal

-nVidia 640M with Optimus Technology/Intel Graphics 4000; the Intel saves battery power, but I've noticed it's able to handle most of my programs anyways, and the nVidia only kicked in when it was actually needed. Optimus saves me a lot of battery power.

-6GB ram=No nonsense. Running a couple graphics intensive games, one compiler, and ms word and chrome uses about 5.2 gb. And in no situation would I ever be running all of these at the same time. It's DDR3, fast and plentiful. Upgradeable if you want

-750 HDD; Plenty of space, not much more to say

-8GB ExpressCache SSD: Having it disabled and enabled I can tell it makes a real-world difference in the use of this computer. Chrome, Word, and bootup are very quick and convenient

-Keyboard: very responsive and fun to type on. I wouldn't be typing this much without it. The add-on of a numeric keyboard on a 15 inch machine is awesome and the function keys work as well as I can hope. High build quality and no lag whatsoever.

-Screen: Matte, great viewing angles, can go super bright, not much you can ask for. I wish all manufacturers went matte and 1600x900 looks great. Because of the 16:9 ratio, the computer itself is more rectangular than others. But that just helps it fit into my backpack better. Colors are reproduced well, and I can use it in intense sunlight. But the high brightness eats battery like no other.

Touchpad: A lot of users have complained about the touchpad, but after you alter the settings and practice with it for a week, it's well tuned and works rather well. I was frustrated the first couple days but I learned and am pleased with the response and abilities of the touchpad. Decent palm rejection. Surface is smooth matte, click is clicky.

-Speakers-get pretty loud. For a laptop, quality is pretty good.

-Build Quality: Fantastic. Great aluminum body; yes, the bottom is plastic, but it keeps the weight lower and actually might keep the computer cooler. It's not really noticeable. Very stylish and smooth. The extra thin bezel is great, actually gives it a smaller form factor. And theres just a simple SAMSUNG logo on the lid, and just below the screen. No nonsense design. All around beautiful computer

Actually not much bloatware was installed compared to others, and Windows 7 ran well. Samsung Easy Settings is pretty useful. More convenient than control panel.

I enthusiastically recommend this computer as a high functioning, highly portable machine with great build quality and rock solid performance.

EDIT 1: I forgot to comment on the battery life: with brightness at 70% and wifi on with continuous web browsing, I get 5.5 hours. That's impressive. With brightness at 50% (which isn't as bad as it sounds) and no wifi and watching a movie, I get 6 hours straight video viewing.

-Webcam: Viewing is smooth and the image quality is great for a webcam. Colors can sometimes get grainy when the surroundings are dark, but that's to be expected. The microphone is decent.

-There are some reviews complaining about the wifi reception and strength, but I found it to be strong and reliable, and comparing it to my family's macbook air and iMac, the wifi strength was on par. Using speedtest.net on all three in the same room yielded equal speeds.

Buy Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5C-S01US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Silver) Now

I recieved this computer today and let me tell you exceeds my expectations! Just to expand on the specs:

from the box:

Intel Core i7 3615qm duh

300nit screen

Nvida GT640m Gddr5 1Gb_hybrid

6GB memory

750GB HD

Intel 6235 Wirless and 4.0 Bluetooth

I immediately replaced with a SSD and this thing is blazing! I also own the np700z3a-s06us which is the slower 14inch model but worth every penny! Also to note it appears they fixed something with the track pad because it is a billion times better than the one on my np700z3a! Glad I went with these Series 7 Laptops from Samsung, Thin and Light... Beautiful!

Update: I did have a slight issue with the screen having a defect, dark spot along the edge. I noticed it after about an hour, but Amazons awesome customer service had me a replacement at my door today! This one looks better, I know the display is a deal breaker for some but I encourage you to check this system out before you buy if you can, I think you will see it will be far past 90% of people's expectations. Although, being very computer savy and deep into the tech world I do have to agree that this screen coming from the top High Def TV manufacture is very disappointing. This for me is not the deal breaker; I think it's still hard to find a package that provides a thin sexy platform along with still having a optical drive with excellent battery life. Along with the third gen intel i7 this machine is incredible in the performance category.

I still give samsung 5 stars for this laptop but if I could they would get 41/2 for the display!

Update 06/13/2012: OK reducing my rating to a 4 star review because of some reliability issues. Maybe its because this is the first run of the third core edition? First time it was the screen not its the DVD drive. When I received the second unit everything appeared to running AWESOME had zero issues until today. I decided to load a program from a cd media and found that the drive was dead. I thought maybe just my cd nope i tried everything and nothing. So Im waiting on my second replacement, I still have faith in Samsung and this particular computer because I own the 14in version and it is ROCK SOLID! So I am reducing my rating to 4 stars because of my personal experience and the display as i mentioned earlier. I think third times the charm! Fingers Crossed!!!

As an added kudos for Amazon, I have never had this many problems with an item before that i purchased online, but Amazon has got to be the most efficiently and helpful company I have ever delt with even in brick and mortar stores. THANK YOU AMAZON FOR THE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

I have used many brand new PC's in the last year including a samsung series 9, but I thought given the price this series 7 would be worth it. I was wrong. My issues are:

1. Windows/Samsung software issues. When first received, I couldn't change the brightness level on my computer. The button simply did not work. I thought it was a manufacturer defect until I googled it and found out I had install samsung's "easy settings" program, common with such computers. I did so, but I have to start that program every time the lighting issue comes up.

2. Power Management. 80-90% of the time when I plug in, windows recognizes its plugged in, but it won't charge and the extra fans turn on, about 2 seconds later the fan is off and its charging, less than 5 seconds later it reverts back. It does slowly charge the battery, but not efficiently. This messes up the brightness of the screen as well, even with the easy settings program. I have checked google and the other samsung and windows power management settings and couldn't figure it out.

3. Touch Pad I have used many touch pads where the pad itself was used to click and haven't had problems. But after 2 months, this one is starting to stick and windows beeps sometimes when I am scrolling. I'm not heavily using the item, maybe 2 hrs a day, so there is no reason that this should be happening.

Stay away from this product, there are many better ones out there with similar features. I'm stuck with it due to Amazon's return policy.

I did a lot of research before finally deciding to buy this laptop. I looked at HP's DV6 line with Ivy Bridge, the new Asus UX-32VD, and other Asus thin and lights with dedicated graphics, and none of those met the price to performance benchmark laid out by this machine. It's well built, incredibly fast, good for gaming and is portable with good battery life. With a few minor drawbacks, this computer is among the best I've ever owned.

PROs:

Construction:

The construction and build quality are booth excellent. The front and palm rest are brushed aluminum and feel / look great. Some have complained about the plastic on the bottom, but I count it as a plus. It was designed this way intentionally to keep the laptop cool. Ever felt the bottom of a MBP while under load gaming? That thing can burn skin.

Speed:

This is a fast laptop. For those concerned with processing speed for their work, be it photo / video editing or compressing, encryption or modeling, this will be just fine. This is one of the fastest mobile chips available today and will handle just about anything.

Gaming:

I've maxed out Skyrim, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3 on this machine without much issue. Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 run at 40-50fps with AA, and can easily push past the 100's with lowered settings. Battlefield 3 isn't really playable at Ultra settings (FPS in the 20s), but is perfectly playable on Medium (60fps in 32 man MP maps). Skyrim runs at ~30fps at max, but is 50+ on High. All games were played at the native 1600x900.

Keyboard:

The keyboard is large and incredibly comfortable. The keys have good travel and are made of a soft-touch plastic-type material. They don't get cold, and aren't very loud to type on. The number pad is nice, though the keys are a bit smaller than the letter keys. The autodetecting backlight is a bit finicky but overall works well. It illuminates the keys well and isn't too bright on the eyes in a dark room.

Sound:

The sound is overall good. Yes, it's a little bit tinny and gets distorted when the volume is maxed out, the quality and bass are excellent for a laptop. It has stereo speakers and a built in subwoofer, and gets the job done for casual multimedia. I wouldn't consider this laptop a full-fledged entertainment PC, so sound quality wasn't a huge issue to me.

Price:

I got this PC for $1200 plus a free xbox (Mom is doing continuing ed, hehe). This is a great price for this much power and quality. Though I hate to do it... the best comparison may be the 15" Macbook Pro. For similar specs, you'd be spending over 2k for the MBP equivalent. Not bad Samsung, not bad.

Hard Drive:

This computer comes with a 750GB 7200rpm drive, and an 8GB 'express cache' soldered onto the motherboard. I've noticed that my most commonly used programs load instantaneously (Chrome, Outlook, Excel, Skype), and Windows boots fast. I haven't timed it but it is certainly sub-30 seconds.

RAM:

My version came with 8GB of 1600mhz DDR3--some of the fastest ram you can buy for laptops. Multitasking is fast, and I tend to keep a lot of things open. With 100 tabs in Chrome and a bunch of emails open and big spreadsheet and a 1080p YouTube video, everything is butter.

CONs:

Battery:

Samsung claims 8hrs battery life on this machine--I haven't been able to get that. With wifi on, screen set to 1/2 brightness, I can do web-browsing, email and productivity for 7hrs max. This isn't horrible by any means, and is great for a machine this powerful, but keep in mind that it's hard to get the advertised 8hrs.

Screen:

This is a pro and a con. The resolution is excellent. I think 1600x900 is a good resolution for a 15" laptop. I would take 1080p if it were available, but really this is probably more comfortable for long-term use. Unfortunately, the viewing angles aren't amazing. Colors can wash out quickly on the vertical end. Horizontal is a lot better, but nothing compared to the IPS screens found on the MBP and HP Envy series. Also, there is slight light bleeding in the middle of my model, which is only visible on an all-black screen. I could probably return it for a replacement with these issues, but honestly I just don't care enough :P

WiFi:

WiFi connection seems to be a little spotty so far. When this laptop is sitting right next to my desktop (connected to my WiFi network using a cheapo $20 WiFi dongle), the desktop gets a better connection than the laptop. It's been so bad sometimes that I'll have to leave BF3 or SC2 games with latencies above 1000. Not good. I'm hoping this gets some driver updates in the near future.

Overall I am one pleased customer. I would recommend this laptop to anyone, especially enthusiasts who want a thin and light machine with some oomph. It's probably overkill for 99% of the average consumer's uses, but computing in excess is the hallmark of all enthusiasts in the first place. I give this baby 5/5 stars.

ASUS R704A-RB31 17.3" Notebook PC - Black

ASUS R704A-RB31 17.3' Notebook PC - BlackMuch more my style! I know where things are and appreciate the stimulus for growth in making Windows 7 familiar to me. I love the larger screen and 'soft' key touch. I came into the computer world kicking and screaming. This unit is 'user friendly' which I need!!

I have it for about a month now. Seems to be a decent notebook which has pretty much everything one would need. Only thing I'm missing is Bluetooth and a DVI port.

I like the special standby/instant on feature. It actually works well. Also cool is ASUS's one year accidental damage warranty. Just the notebook plastic case feels a bit cheap to me but I'm sure it's as strong as any other notebook's case. It feels light though maybe it's some special carbon mix. I'm going to put more memory in asap. The max is 8GB. There is 4GB build in and one open slot. I wonder if I have to buy 4GB or one 8GB module. The manual doesn't say. Anyone?

Apple MacBook MC240LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop

Apple MacBook MC240LL/A 13.3-Inch LaptopA few months ago I purchased an iMac from Amazon, my first Mac by the way. I could have not been more pleased. I am a student learning computational science and I wanted to become familiar with all the major systems: windows, Mac and Linux. I have been a frustrated Windows user for many years and was pleased with the Mac. Recently I just purchased this Macbook for mobile computing. I spend most my time away from my apartment and wanted a Mac to work on when I am on the go. This computer is perfect, the size and weight is just right for carrying around everywhere. Compared to my Windows based laptops I get over three hours of battery life, which is perfect for me.

The power of the Macbook is perfect for daily computing and basic development. The addition of the Nividia graphics cards adds a lot to photo, video and light gaming. I am also very pleased that Apple did not increase the price when they added the faster 2.13GHz chip and expanded the hard drive space. Originally I was going to purchase one of the new aluminum Macbooks just for the better performance but the recent addition of this computer changed all that. I am going to keep this review short because I wrote a longer one for the iMac I purchased. If you need a mobile computer that is not being used for extreme gaming and extensive video editing then this computer would be perfect for you. As I mentioned it compliments my studies in programming and also allows me to work with the Adobe Web Premium bundle without a problem. Furthermore you can increase the RAM to 4 GB for about $60 from Crucial.com; they have videos to show you how, and it is not that difficult. Even though I love Amazon and usually make all my major purchases through them I will say that if you are a student you can buy this Macbook for less through Apple and receive a free ipod Touch until September, just something to keep in mind. However, if you do not need an iPod avoid paying tax and purchase through Amazon.

This is an update to my earlier review of this Macbook. I was unaware at the time I purchased this that a new less expensive Macbook Pro 13" was being released. I really wanted one of the unibody Macbooks but because of the cost I went with this computer. However, with the release of the new Macbook Pro 13" I was able to return this computer and upgrade to the unibody. My review of this Macbook still stands and I was very happy with it but with the lower price on the new Macbook Pro coupled with the student discount that deal could not be beat! If you can afford the additional cost roughly $100 for student and $200 for non-student, I would recommend the Macbook Pro 13", you will get more bang for your buck. The white Macbook is still a good investment if you need to keep your cost below $1000.

As a 2nd time owner of a MacBook (my previous MacBook Pro purchased last September) I am amazed at the huge package you get for such a little price. At the Apple Store, I was able to purchase a newly released product (3 days old) for less than Amazon (949.00 with the student or teacher discount, and they didn't even ask for proof) charges and until September 2009 it includes a free iPod Touch. (Or any iPod valued up to 229.00). I compared the specs side by side to my Pro and found it to be almost completely caught up, except for the video card and display screen size. Even the memory had a faster bus! My Pro is still working great, but my husband needed something mostly for school. The glossy display is gorgeous and the slightly smaller resolution than the Pro goes unnoticed. I have the Pro for photography and graphic design but this little MacBook can handle those as well if it really needed to, what with all the extra processing speed. (2.4 vs 2.13).

Overall a tremendous value and a power packed little computer. For an entry level, I think it is loaded with a ton of power to stay ahead for the next few years. Even the Mac "pro" at the store recommended it over some of the more expensive ones due to my husband primarily using it for Office programs and internet based with some photos and music on the side. I'm confident there isn't anything this little Macbook white couldn't do that my Pro could.

P.S. Play with all the menus in the apple icon on the LH top for the most personalized experience. This includes touch pad "gestures" letting you use finger combinations to scroll, right click, turn pages, etc; hotspots that let you make a program or app come up just by going to a deep corner of the screen; Spaces, which lets you have multiple applications running on several screens that you can hop between so your windows are more organized; and many more options. Don't be afraid to try stuff with menu options, you won't break it!

Had I written this review, say a half-year ago, I would have undoubtedly given the Macbook 5 stars. I took it with me to college after my previous laptop an Acer Aspire failed me horribly. My Aspire had an issue with overheating, which only presented itself after my warranty expired. The cost of repairing it was not worth it when compared to getting a new laptop that was smaller, lighter, more powerful, and more capable of multi-tasking (more RAM).

I come from a family that has been using Macs for over a decade, although I myself preferred Windows computers...up until Windows Vista came out. We had many Macs around the house growing up since my parents use Macs in their office, and I was never really impressed with the Apple Operating System, so I had doubts about the Macbook. But since the Macbook is loaded with 2GB RAM and an Intel processor, you can run BOTH Mac AND Windows operating systems with ease. I therefore figured worse comes to worst, I'll use my Macbook as a laptop to run Windows XP with. I used it very heavily in college and it served me very well. It's light weight allowed me to easily carry it from class to class, its included photo and video editing software gave me hours of productivity, and perhaps best of all, it was reliable! I really loved my Macbook and would like to give it 5 stars...but...

My sister, who was in graduate school, also got a Macbook at the same time I got mine. Her laptop fared well, up until the end of last year. For some reason, the laptop started getting buggy...it'd freeze, it would overheat, it became a major nuisance. We've reformatted several times, hoping that would solve the problems, but to no avail. I HIGHLY recommend getting the AppleCare protection plan. We regrettably didn't, and really don't feel like forking over the money to repair the Macbook since she doesn't use it much anymore anyway. But our attempt to save money by not getting the protection plan will end up costing us more money now, should we choose to repair the laptop! The experience with our second, identical Macbook, is why I have to give 3 stars instead of 5 for an otherwise strong performance product, that can run both Windows and Mac, that comes bundled with a lot of great software, and that looks really cool (especially on a college campus where almost everyone has Macs!)

A last note...I have more recently purchased the sleeker Macbook, and would like to emphasize that while its construction is nicer, and it doesn't look as cheap as this plastic one, I still think this is a good deal. If you're looking to "wow" people and can splurge, get the newer model, but if you are looking for a powerful laptop and don't care too much about having the latest build, this one is just fine. I still use my plastic one even though I have the newer (cooler-looking!) one.

My wife purchased this great machine for me and I'm a happy camper. It is as fast wireless as hard wired and small enough to carry anywhere but big enough to still be used in comfort. Good-bye PC machines.

I am in love with my laptop. I love the highly intuitive nature of a mac. I never have to troubleshoot with a mac, the way i had to on a daily basis with a pc laptop. Each new laptop that comes out is faster and more fully loaded than the last. Each new laptop the comes out also seeks to correct some issues that the previous model had.

This particular model has an issue with heat. The computer gets so hot it will burn your legs if you actually use it on your lap. The excessive heat also causes hairline fractures in the encasement around the fan in the back. After the fractures have shown up, dirt is attracted, and then you have dirty looking cracks all over the back of your computer. The most annoying problem with this model is the encasement cracking and breaking off from the wrist resting area, leaving an exposed rough and sharp edge. It is difficult to get apple to replace this, as it is not a default, but wear and tear according to them. Its been a major issue among users of this model. I suggest getting a skin to protect the area, I use Moshi PalmGuard Macbook 13-inch Unibody and 13-inch Pro Palmrest Protector Silver and it has prevented my palm area from cracking this time around for over a year now.

Overall this machine is an excellent product. Once you go Mac, you wont go back.

Samsung Series 5 NP550P5C-S02US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Silver)

Samsung Series 5 NP550P5C-S02US 15.6-Inch LaptopAs to start out this laptop appears good in numerous ways. For the casual gamer or replacement of older laptops this is a definite yes. Upon receiving and using it here are the first impressions.

Keyboard

This is a typical laptop keyboard with a numeric keypad on the right side. I was used to no numeric keypad on former laptop but it is a nice addition. If you are not used to an extra keypad it will take a little adjustment on getting used to it when typing but no big deal in my book. Some people like illuminated keys on the keyboard but this one is not. I am in no need of illuminated keys so it fits my uses.

Screen

The screen is 15.6 and is HD. To my eyes an HD to a non HD is not a big deal. For people who want the most super clear screen this will probably work. For the causal gamer, college student, or basic video watcher this is great. If you examine the picture the screen is held up by two hinges. These are sturdy but the screen appears to bounce a little bit at times. If you want the screen to remain totally solid with the rest of the computer while moving around it will not. It bounces a little with every movement but if you sit still and it is on your lap then it is not a problem. If it is on a table it doesn't bounce because the surface stays still.

Mousepad

The mousepad is one of the better ones in my opinion. On some samsung i7s the mousepad is nothing but a huge pad with no left or right click separated. This is part of the 5 series and the mouse buttons are separate from the pad itself. For people with bigger hands it may be annoying due to that the pad is closer to the keys but if you are already used to a mousepad close to the keys no big deal. The mousepad is sensitive but takes some time getting used to. If you are one who uses bluetooth mouse then no big deal.

Video Card

This has a Nvidia and integrated intel 4000. You will have to tinker with the settings in Windows 8 and the Nvidia toolbar to set the primary video card. For gamers you will have to set the each game to nvidia card or use global settings. The Nvidia is suitable for casual games up to high graphic games. In the high graphics games the FPS may fall lower at times. For my personal needs as I am a causal gamer it works just fine.

Hard Drive

The hard drive is good and suitable for the average user. It is 750 GB and the speed is fairly good. At times it seems to be a little slow once in a while but then it doesn't really bother me. If you are expecting instantaneous speed then I would say look elsewhere.

Case

The case itself is aluminum in most parts except the bottom which is a type of fiberglass/plastic. If you ever go to a best buy and look at the Samsung series 5 it is exact same body. For the person who likes aluminum case I would suggest a definite yes. For those who prefer all plastic case then a resounding no.

Weight

The weight of the entire laptop is around 5.5 lbs but to me it seems light. It does not feel heavy or bulky. My former laptop was a tad more heavier around the 8 10 lbs range so this feels light especially while sitting on the lap.

Heat of Laptop

When running games it runs warm and not hot for my needs. If you have pants on, have laptop on your lap, the fan kicks once in a while, but it does not feel hot. My former laptop ran much hotter and required a stand with fans. This one so far seems to run in a good warm ranger with higher graphics. The output of air is on the left side and in front.

Speakers

The speakers are made by JBL. The sound is average to good but to me it's just a laptop. Laptops are not designed to be boomboxes with super sound. For the causal gamer it's just fine. For a person who wants super loud sound and wild bass I would suggest look elsewhere. The speakers can get loud but I prefer to keep sound in the minimal to low range.

Main Complaint

It is preloaded with Windows 8 and extra bloatware. Windows 8 takes time to get used to if you are used to vista, xp, and 7. Windows 8 was programmed with touchscreen in mind which is why it functions with all the apps. You can tinker with Windows 8 and download programs to make it look like Windows 7 or Vista which is what I've done. There are Apps already preloaded which can be easily removed.

Overall, I feel this was a good replacement and should work for a casual gamer, college student, business exec, and home laptop. I will update this review as time passes to keep others informed on the usability over time and how long it will hold up.

EDIT 1: After getting the computer all set up, took off bloatware, it seems to run much smoother. The speed of restarts during updates of Windows 8 is very slow. After updates of Windows 8 finished, seemed to pick up speed.

EDIT 2 1 week after purchase: Since receiving the laptop and using it some of the pros and cons are becoming more obvious. When playing games with the mouse pad over and over it takes more time getting used to than previous laptop. If you play FPS with a mousepad you cannot aim, move, and shoot as much. When you use keys to move and try pointing your gun it doesn't work so well. You have to compensate. If you have an external mouse then this is nothing.

The sound from the JBL speakers I must admit was better than my first assessment. The sound on this laptop can get LOUD if you crank up speakers and settings.

The USB 3.0 ports are slightly tight. When plugging in a usb cord or device you have to push it in just right because it is a snug tight fit. Speed for the USB 3.0 is very good. A 4 GB transfer took less than 2 minutes when I was transferring old files from former computer.

Surprisingly older games run just fine on this laptop such as Deus Ex, Civilization III, Half Life 2, etc. The only odd about this is the screen resolution is 1366 x 768. Many older games do not come with this preset resolution.

Overall, still completely satisfied.

EDIT 3: Approaching 1 month since purchase. Upon using this laptop over and over again with games one phenomenon that is common with high graphic games is the heat of the video card and stability. On utilizing higher graphic games it gets quite warm to hot. If it is on your bare skin lap it could burn. If you have something that shields your laptop then no issue. So far when the laptop gets excessively warm to hot it has NOT crashed with the blue screen of death like with my older laptop which ran vista. In my book this makes me quite satisfied.

Another phenomenon with Windows 8 is it has run older games better than vista. Upon purchasing games off of steam such as the old Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade/Fate of Atlantis, LOOM, and Monkey Island which is DOS based it runs just fine. Games purchased off of Good Old Games website such as Nox and Heroes of Might and Magic IV runs just fine also. The only con within the first month is the power cord runs out the side of the computer. For some people it may be nothing but from my experiences with laptops this can potentially be a flaw due to if the cord has to reach an outlet on the opposite side of the computer. This causes the energy port to bend a little. Over a period of time this could cause a loose connection with the constant bending. A former laptop of mine this happened to. When the power port was in the back of the computer on another one of my laptops the cord would not have to bend left or right. This though is a personal preference and can be accommodated by being mindful of the cord and adjusting when needed. Overall, I am still satisfied and getting more surprised at how well this is as a replacement laptop.

EDIT 4: Approaching 2 month mark with this laptop. So far my primary usages for this laptop in the past 2 months has been gaming, writing a dissertation, watching movies, internet, videos, and digital pictures. Still no blue screen of death with higher graphic games. No major negative issues. Speed is still good, graphics still performing at top notch, speakers no issues, mousepad holding up to extreme usage in games, no problems with battery, cover is resistant to scratches (although sweat hand marks and fingerprint marks are evident when tilted at the right angle but this can be cleaned), and USB ports functioning good. Higher graphic games perform well such as Hitman:Absolution, all the GTA games, Portal 1 & 2, and World of Warcraft on High settings (Ultra settings also but it gets hot). Overall, still completely satisfied and happy with this laptop.

Love this laptop. 3rd gen i7 and GeForce 630m video card are great for my needs. For the small amount of gaming that I do, it looks great. No problems multi tasking, watching videos, and playing music.

I had never bought a Samsung product until I bought a Galaxy s3 a few months ago. I love my phone so decided to try this laptop. It's great too. A very fast but comfortable ride. The sound is pretty amazing too. Samsung has it together.

I absolutely adore this computer. It works so great I am in the Army away for training and have little time to set it up and I have a lot of games that I play occasionally. Graphics card is great in my opinion. Great buy for me at least

Samsung Series 3 NP300E5C-A09US 15.6-Inch Laptop

Samsung Series 3 NP300E5C-A09US 15.6-Inch LaptopI guess that I am responding to the person who was disappointed with his/her computers wifi speed, as a rule it is the wifi service itself and not the computer that is to blame for such problemsyou might check there. As for my experience with this computer, I love it, easy to set-up and use and faster than the Gateway I gave to my wife. No problems with Windows 8[I actually like it better than Windows 7] and really am pleased with the quality and design of the Samsung keyboard vs. Gateway. Not a gamer or professional user, just a regular guy type user who is amazed at the speed and ability of these new machines

I bought this laptop for a friend , she loves it. It's a very good computer. Performance is great, and is very lite.

This was a high school graduation gift for my Grand-daughter. Yes, it comes with Windows 8 and some junk applications. However, Samsung did not includes nearly as many useless apps as most manufacturers.

I will admit that I have become a Windows 8 fan. Just as I had previously done on my ASUS N56VJ, also from Amazon, I modified the interface so that the "Desktop" looks exactly as if you were still running Windows 7. But, you also still have the Windows 8 "Start" interface available making it easy to switch over and use apps more suited for that interface.

Since my PC's are are i7s with 16gb of ram, it did seem a bit slow. However, to most PC users, this machine will probably feel very fast.

As with most Samsung products, the build is excellent and feels very sturdy. Since my Grand-daughter is going away to the University of South Florida, this was an important part of my decision to buy this unit. Obviously, it will be carried to a bunch of places. So, as a precaution, I installed LoJack . . . rather be safe than sorry.

This laptop is also very aesthetically pleasing. It is a cool looking laptop. I almost wanted to keep it. My Grand-daughter loves it and I would recommend to anyone looking for a gift for a young person. Actually, I would recommend it to any one wanting a good buy in a reliable laptop.

Can view clear picture from multiple angles. Meets my needs in a number of ways with the solid state drive and blu-ray disk. Wish Microsoft include image backup with windows 8, but that isn't the reseller's issue. This product is great. 2 year warranty will be nice too, just in case.
