The computer is overall a decent and good computer. For the price it is a great sized screen and fast machine. I mostly got this to check email, basic graphics editing, skype, word processing, and web browsing.
Great screen resolution, and the built in software that makes older DVDs look better actually works. Energy saver cuts in automatically if you leave the screen open and forget about it. The keyboard feels great, it's just like a full size desk top KB. The two button cursor pad reacts quickly and is easy to use with one hand. It is set up as an on line entertainment PC, so if you want to use it for work, about half the software on the computer is completely useless. Windows 8 comes with a start page, which is just an extra step to get where you want to be. It is obviously designed for internet touch screen devices and it's a useless addition for a device without a touch screen, but that's more a comment about W8 than about this computer. It's plug and play with everything I connected to it so far, so no installation CDs required for any of my devices. Logged on to the internet and it immediately registered Windows and was ready to go. Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 is just as bad as all the previous versions, so I replaced it with the latest version of Firefox. A lot of software on there either expires in 30 days or you have to sign up immediately to use, which is pretty much what you get on every computer, unlike the good old days when you got free full versions of things like MS Word, complete with install disk, which I just installed on this computer and it works just fine, so I don't have to pay Microsoft for new versions of the same old software! For work use, the speed and memory are more than sufficient, but I just spent a few hours playing the free Penguins game on it, and it only stalled once, I don't know why maybe because I touched the pad with two fingers and it was confused. Only had it a week, but no problems yet.

When I received this I was having problems from the start with connecting to my mobile hotspot. My old computer there was no problems. So the first call they blamed it on interface problems with Windows 8, after asking my Grandson to attempt to hook up with his Dell/Windows 8, he had no problems connecting to my hotspot. So I returned the call and I was given a royal run around. They said they could fix my problem if I purchased a additional $149. level 3 tech assist package. it took me a while to figure out windows 8 but since I have I like the computer. I thought it was the computer but it was me who had to learn something new.
I've been a Toshiba notebook fan for a while, this is my third. The notebook is loaded with windows 7 but only 2gb of RAM, I'd suggest grabbing a $15 stick of RAM when you purchase it so you can immediately upgrade your memory. I run Adobe CS5 on this with no problem and also some lightweight video editing. It's a great computer for office work and I'm pretty pleased with the battery life.

This is an update to my review. I loved this item for the first few days but then the screen went black and I could not get it to come up for anything. I don't know if this is a problem with Acer or not but this happened on my older computer also which was an Acer. So now I have to delete everything on this so that I can return it. A huge pain in the rear. If it happens again I will have to buy a different model and will speak my mind about Acer. I also do not like the new Windows 8. It is diffiult to figure out where everything is but I'm sure after working with it for awhile it will become easier. Everything new is hard at first.

I received this laptop for work and was expecting it to be fast given the processor speed and the 4GB of RAM. So far, I have been disappointed in the speed of this machine. I find that it freezes when I just have one Excel spreadsheet open. This happened to me on multiple occassions since I received the laptop, but not all the time. It seems that it freezes randomly.
I bought this since I heard rave reviews about this being one of the best designed and performing gaming laptops. Even though its not explicitly labeled "Gaming" doesn't mean that it isn't!! This has truly performed all my other laptops and ultrabooks I have ever owned.

The MSI GT60 with the Nvidia 675 video processor is an excellent machine. I have had mine for a month and it is very fast performs quite well with Windows 8 though I tend to stay in the traditional desktop environment. The best part is I can now play Skyrim at it's full graphical settings and with additional graphic upgrades and still get over 30 frames per sec. It is definitely not a 'portable' computer but it is still small enough to use comfortably on a lap board in my lounge chair. This laptop is exactly as I expected: A powerful gaming laptop that is a tank. I was looking for a powerful gaming rig that is more portable than a desktop for LAN parties, and this laptop works perfectly. And yes, it does indeed have 12GB of ram.

i recently purchased this, i had read reviews saying that the maximum volume is way too low, but wow, people werent kidding. you can barely hear it, especially with an air conditioner on. also, i dont like that you have to use a function key then click the volume controls to change the volume, that seems primitive for a laptop. i want 1-touch volume control, every computer should have that.
This review is solely based on the keyboard and mouse buttons. I didn't have the computer long enough to tell you about the rest of it. I didn't like the rickety feel of the keyboard (not very stable) and I didn't like that the mouse buttons were connected/difficult to push. I recommend trying a computer in the store before buying it, because you can't experience the "feel" of one unless you get your own hands on it.
I am going to post a legitimate review about the actual product here. A few of the other reviews on this product were pretty much ranting and pointless. I am an IT technician, and I will sum it up as short as possible, but to the point. I bought this for my own personal use, not for work. All in all, this PC has great speed, good hibernation in and out of lid closes (hasn't locked up once yet), and fingerprint reader is actually very useful. Beats audio is marketing mostly, sounds a little better though. This PC is gorgeous aesthetically, and touchpad is useable for once. It has advanced functions (two finger zoom/scroll, etc.). Also, for those of you that don't like the touchpad light that surrounds the touchpad, (fn) function & spacebar toggles it on and off. Double tap the top left corner of the touchpad to turn it off and use a wireless mouse. Other than that, quad-core processor, 2 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports, pretty good graphics card, fingerprint reader with shortcut software included (you can setup different website shortcuts and/or system functions to access with recognition of different fingers; ie: shutdown with your pinky, or go to your 3 favorite websites with just one swipe of your index finger). It has 6 gigs of ram (expandable to 16 GB), 640 gig HDD, memory card reader, beats audio, and bluetooth, you really can't go wrong for the price. Remember, all PCs have bloatware these days pretty much, most PC support problems are dealt with through globally outsourced firms. This does suck, but it keeps their costs down for us to buy them. I suggest removing all the programs you don't want or need from add/remove programs in the control panel right away when you get it (within the 14 day store return policy), and give this computer a lot of use within that period to make sure it's for you. If you are not tech savvy, pay extra and purchase the store's extended warranty program. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS OR ANY COMPUTER 5 HOURS FROM YOUR HOUSE like one of the other reviewers did. Way too risky when spending 5 benjamins. Anyways, I hope you buy and enjoy this product. I do NOT work for HP by the way...lol. I will say that I did not buy this at Amazon unfortunately because I found it 120 bucks cheaper at a local chain store that starts with an (S******) and has a red brand theme. I would expose the store, but Amazon might not post this review. Last I looked, that deal was still going on. Hope this helps some people.

I am so frustrated by this laptop. Considering the specs it comes with, the price seemingly makes it a wonderful deal. The design is sleek and modern. It runs cool and quiet. I did quite a bit of research prior to purchasing the HP dv6-6c10us (15.6-Inch Screen) Laptop, and after trying it out on the Staples floor model I bought it on Amazon for a reduced price. Here are my thoughts:
The computer is good, However, it happens that the one that I bought has a few defective keys. I called the company to order a repair under their warranty. They said that I have to send it in and they will take care of it. They emailed me instructions that explained how it's done and I had to fill an form with information. So far so good, but as I finished to fill up the form they wanted me to pay for the shipping or to pay for a special box for shipping in the amount of $25.00. I would have given them five stars but since it was not my fault that I have purchased defective computer, they should have taken responsibility and paid for the shipping.

I have had this laptop for almost a year and it is awesome. It can handle the Sims 3 on all high graphics, and it plays League of Legends just fine, I never have any problems with it. And it can run Diablo 3 but it can get really glitchy. It evens runs faster than my friends $1,200 Asus. The size isn't too small, and it isn't too big either, it can rest on my lap just fine, and I can throw it in my backpack or a larger handbag and be off. I bought my TX2Z shortly before starting a college program. It lasted just under 2 years before the motherboard failed. About 6 months or so after purchase, the CPU cooling fan began to run much more frequently. After about a year, it ran constantly. I frequently used compressed air to blow out the vents (the cooling fins appeared clean) and even removed the DVD drive, in case it was helping to cause the heat build-up. Finally, the weekend before an exam and one week before finals, it failed and flashing lights on the keyboard signaled a motherboard failure. I had been using a cooling pan w/dual fans anytime I was on A/C power (80% of the time during the first year of ownership and almost 100% of the time after that), so I don't believe I caused the failure with poor ventilation.

This is my 2nd touchscreen. The first one stopped working about 1 year after i bought it (motherboard). I purchased this laptop for college, about a month into school I powered on during class and the computer made an awful beeping sound that did not stop until I powered it off manually. The warranty took care of the hard drive however as soon as the warranty expired it would not power on and wash flashing lights that signified the motherboard was failing. Hopefully I can sell it for parts.
This is a great laptop for the price and Amazon has great customer service. It is fast and the only thing I did to make it faster, is installed an SSD hard drive and am using it as my primary drive and using the hard drive that came with it, as my secondary hard drive. The only negative thing that people should know is that it only comes with a 2.4GHz Wireless card and I would like to have a 5GHz card which is 8 X faster. When I spoke to HP about upgrading to a 5Ghz card they sent me a link to an outside vendor and I purchased that card. After installing it, it came up with a BIOS error stating that it was not an HP supported product. I just purchased another card directly from the HP site and I am hoping it will work.
