Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7013 LED TruBrite 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7013 LED TruBrite 17.3-Inch LaptopI was looking for an upgrade to my 4 year old Dell, and having had good luck with a Toshiba before I decided to buy another Toshiba Satellite. When the package was opened and powered up, the Satellite took off! It installed all of the software in short order. The screen is big and bright with really great resolution. The touch pad was a bit too sensitive, but it is easily adjusted. The keyboard is big, compared to my old Dell, and has a good feel. I also like having the number keypad, just like a desk top system. The Satellite comes with a lot of handy software for keeping the system running and protected (i.e. Norton security suite). The only thing which disappointed me is the built-in speakers. They sound cheap and tinny. Through headphones, the audio is great, so it is only the speakers.

My wife received a Toshiba Satellite laptop as a hand-me-down gift a few years ago. This laptop is now about eight years old and wearing out, so for her birthday this year I researched economically priced laptops and was very pleased one of her best options turned out to be this Toshiba Satellite (L675D-S7014, to be exact).

I located this laptop new for a really low price that just crested the $500 mark. I was unable to locate a new laptop with 17.3" monitor, dual core, and 4Gb of memory for this price. Needless to say, I snapped it up and gave it to her for her birthday.

She squealed with delight when she opened it! She immediately took it out of the box and admired its beauty. It looks modern and sleek and while it's actually a large computer, it's not overly heavy. Her old 17" square-monitor laptop was at least 15 lbs. This 17.3" is under 10 lbs. In the past she would never use the laptop on her lap on our couch. It was just too heavy and hot. Now she does. The bottom of the laptop never gets past being warm and the laptop itself is very light compared to her old one.

Setup was as simple as turning on the laptop and walking through some questions. Upon its first power on, it installed and activated the OS build with only a few questions. Windows 7 is so simple to get started, but if you have a wireless LAN setup, make sure you have the wireless activation key. Windows will ask for this when installing the OS. Within maybe 10 minutes after power up she was on our wireless network Facebooking, e-mailing, and so happily working away. I couldn't be happier with this laptop.

Really the only improvement I would suggest would be the sound quality of the speakers, but this is a nit. Really, for the price, this is a great laptop. The sound is in stereo with ample volume, but it's a little tinny. I really have no reason to complain. It's such a nice laptop, speedy, and has just the right amount of memory for everything she does. I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a low-priced, new laptop at a budget price.

In fact, I'm looking at one of the 18.4" Toshiba laptops for myself. I'm so impressed with this one and the robust performance of her last Toshiba Satellite, which lasted eight years, I think I'll get myself a Toshiba when I'm ready to retire my current Lenovo. For the price, you gotta love it!

Excellent laptop, But, the keyboard skips letters typed and also inserts double letters of some typed. Typing is very frustrating.

Toshiba hasn't fixed the problem in 6 months... they say they are on the verge of fixing it.

There are a lot of people wishing they had never bought the computer... you may want to hold off until it is fixed or buy from a different brand.

You can check out the forum on Toshiba's website to see what aggrivation they have caused their customers:Think twice before buying...

Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310 14-Inch Laptop

Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310 14-Inch LaptopI got this as a Christmas gift and absolutely love it. Feels great and is pretty fast and responsive. I already have an Ipad so I am very comfortable with the touchscreen feature, having a keyboard and CD drive makes this the all around best option. Navigating between the apps and the internet takes a little getting used to with Windows 8 though.

Sony VPC-Z21DGX/B - Core i7 2.7 GHz - 13.1 inch ci7 2620m 256 GB SSDHad this laptop for 2 days now. It could be really good, but it has several design flaws that are annoying. The front corners are very sharp and hurt my wrist when typing. The touchpad is really bad. Almost unusable. It also attracts fingerprints like crazy. Completely unacceptable for a $3,000 laptop. The backlit keyboard cannot be turned on permanently, but shuts off after 60s. The first two carges, the built in battery lasted 2.20 and 1.55. Soooo far off the advertised 4 hours plus without any hard tasks run.

Acer Aspire 13.3-Inch Ultrabook / 3rd Generation Intel Core i7_3517U Processor/ 4GB DDR3 Memory / 2

Acer Aspire 13.3-Inch Ultrabook / 3rd Generation Intel Core i7_3517U Processor/ 4GB DDR3 Memory / 256GB Solid State Drive / HDMI / USB 3.0 / Bluetooth / Win 7 Home Premium / 2.65 lbsThis is by far the best laptop computer I have every used, though it does have a few flaws as we all do. This is my response after about 3 weeks of daily use.

First the PROs:

1. It is as described very light and thin. I switch from use of this computer to another frequently and the heft and size make this movement easy to do without requiring movement of everything else on my desk. I like it!

2. The speed of the i7 chip and of the two solid state "hard drives" are also as described fast to recalculate large spreadsheets and quick to load any program. I have never had this performance available to me short of some sort of mini-computer.

3. And one is spoiled by the responsiveness of the solid state flash drives.... I don't ever want to go back to the performance of what many of us remember in the 1980s as Winchester hard drives which at that time we thought were above our expectations! Programs seem as if they instantaneously load.

a. I deliberately bought a unit with two 128 Gb solid state (flash) drives. After I loaded a normal (but not "extensive") array of programs I had only about 128 Gb of flash storage available for data and other programs. I needed that second drive and I anticipate most others will as well.

4. The solid state drives provide another advantage I never shut the machine off. I just save my files and close the cover when I am through work. There are no moving parts, no heat is being generated. The programs are in the condition as left at shutdown when I restart.

5. The unit is rugged. When I open the display by lifting from the left-hand corner, there is no strain on the display or movement of the chassis.

6. The screen is bright and easy to read from most any angle associated with my use.

7. The published (CNET) concern about not having enough ports is unwarranted at least for my use. It comes with a Bluetooth connection AND very nice Logitech Bluetooth Mouse. It also comes with an HDMI port AND an adapter to connect HDMI to VGA (for my large flatscreen monitor). So there remain unused two USB3 ports and a Thunderbolt port.

8. Music sounds both very well and adequately loud through the backward pointing sound system. I think sound from laptop computers has finally become adequate!

Then the NEUTRALS:

1. The fit and finish are smooth; the unit feels solid, balanced. The chassis is of jet black anodized metal; it's not shiny. There is no special appearance factor, except that it is thin and looks just OK.

2. The published (CNET) concern about lifetime of the lift system which exposes the array of ports at the back for use appears also unwarranted. Actually, this lift is nearly always in the upward position (exposing the ports) because it also raises the computer frame to allow improved heat transfer from the chassis. In my experience, the lift is nearly always in the up position to improve heat transfer or to expose the HDMI port for use to drive my flatscreen monitor.

3. Keystrokes are solid despite the presumed short stroke length with a thin chassis. They are not "springy" or "dead."

4. The keyboard is not backlit as are some on other machines. That's the single feature I missed on this machine

Finally the NEGATIVES:

1. The thinness comes with a price. Necessarily, the power switch (located on the back left side of the frame) is very thin, and hard for me to activate with finger or thumb. This flaw stops being annoying and becomes difficult when I have to hold the power switch down for 6 to 8 seconds in order to reboot (that does happen, especially with Chrome!).

2. The keyboard is a compromise, as I suppose one would expect with a thin/lite computer with a 13.3" screen.

a. While it has all the normal set keys, some of them are hard to access. and and half size and only accessible through simultaneously pressing the blue Function key. For those who use spreadsheets, this is a drawback.

b. And for those who use a word processor or Adobe Reader, both the and keys are impaired by being half-sized sharing and respectively.

c. The good news is that there are two broad keys, that the and keys are full-size. Four function keys are unused: , , , and . However, these keys do work in other programs.

d. The normal "full-size" keys are slightly smaller than those of an Asus laptop with a 13.3" screen which is not "thin" and "light" which has no half-sized keys.

3. It's overpriced! The Decide (http://www.decide) rates it on July 3, 2013 as a 71 on a scale of 100 with values above 90 being excellent buys and below 60 being "don't buy." The price from Amazon on that date was $1,099... From about late April to late May the price from Amazon had been between $925 and $975. I got it in late May 2013 for the lower number! The thing is that one really is socked for the second 128 Gb flash drive as the same machine with one flash drive sells for $710 at the same time.

SUMMARY

This is a fine machine. I would buy another at a favorable price.

Best laptop I have ever owned. Thinnest, lightest laptop on the market. Uses two solid state drives in a RAID array that gives it the fastest read/write access of any laptop. Had issues getting the bluetooth mouse to work, as another reviewer pointed out, but once I fixed that it works beautifully (i deleted the existing driver, let windows install driver, now it connects automagically just fine). Long battery life, maybe 6+ hrs. So slim, light, long battery, love the aesthetics of this laptop.

I purchased an Acer 13.3 Ultrabook (i7, 256GB SSD). While the ultarbook seems to be very fast, the display awesome and the size and weight are prefect for travelling. However, I ran into a small problem with the mouse and had to go through an awful and arrogant Acer Technical support service. The product came with an Acer Blue-Tooth which was not recognized by the notebook. I tried the chat facility first. It took hours to go through the entire procedure to address the problem. The advice I got re-install the OS and loose everything you have already installed on the computer. This did not seem to be the right approach, so I tried the support number. I was told that the product warranty does not support peripheral and that I would need to pay for the phone support. After spending hours and losing my temper I was routed to a supervisor. He repeated the unbelievable claim that the warranty did not include peripheral support. He suggested that I purchase a USB mouse. It took me a while to convince him that the purchase included an Acer Bluetooth mouse as the pointing device and it should work as advertised. He finally agreed to send another mouse. The problem was resolved immediately after I received the replacement mouse. The conclusion the product may be fine but do not expect to get good warranty or other support after you purchase it.

Dell Inspiron 1750 17.3-Inch Obsidian Black Laptop - Up to 4 Hours 42 Minutes of Battery Life (Wind

Dell Inspiron 1750 17.3-Inch Obsidian Black Laptop - Up to 4 Hours 42 Minutes of Battery LifeI got this laptop as a Christmas/graduation present from my parents. Overall, I'm so pleased. The battery life is amazing, the display is awesome, and the fact that it already came with Windows 7 was really convenient. And it's so lightweight! As a web design major, I carry this thing around everywhere. My previous Dell brickbook nearly dislocated my shoulders. I'd recommend maybe getting a different color if you're worried about fingerprints, though, as they're quite noticeable. The only negative thing I have is the touch pad gestures. I thought that the "pinch" zoom in/zoom out features would be really handy but while browsing the web it would often zoom in and out on me without me doing much. But I just disabled that feature and it's great otherwise. :) It's a great buy, I'd recommend it to anyone.

I have owned Dells for the past 10 years and have never had one issue with any of their machines. This laptop is no exception. I would recommend the laptop for the average user who isn't a big gamer and isn't working on memory-intensive High Def video editing.

I have had a Dell desktop for a long time and have always been happy with their products and service. I had a tough time deciding if I was going to get this particular laptop as there were a few very negative reviews regarding their service. I decided to give it a go despite the negative reviews and although I have only had this laptop a day, I am extremely happy with it. The screen is bright and clear, the keyboard is easy to use and not cramped and difficult to navigate, the laptop weight is the most surprising thing to me. I thought it would be much heavier! All in all, I am very pleased with the entire experience. Especially how quickly Amazon got it to me. Normally Dell makes you go through a laundry list of "personalization" steps, and then it takes a long time for them to "build" it. I guess a lot of people want or need to personalize their laptops, but this one was perfect for me and I love how simple it was to buy.

I bought this laptop after 3 months of very extensive research. For the price and the specs it seemed like the best possible choice. Boy oh boy was I wrong. After only 3 months I started to have problems with the charger. The laptop would only work if plugged in, it wouldn't charge and if the charger was even bumped, the computer would shutdown due to lack of power. So, called Dell and after a lengthy discussion to many other problems I'd been having as well, turns out the motherboard needed to be replaced, the whole charging housing, the hard-drive and the wireless card. I will say, I had great customer service and my laptop was returned quickly, but I did have to send it in. But, when I got the laptop back, they must've put in a different charger housing because my original plugin barely fits the hole, which was octogon before and is now round.

It has now been 1 year that I've had it and the screen is going out. There's something wrong with the hinge and it makes the screen do very funny things and I have to jiggle it until the screen is clear. So, this is the worst laptop ever made. It's just kind of cheap as well. The plastic on it is awful.

I got a great deal from Dell for a refurbished Inspiron 1750. There were no surprises, I knew what I was getting, and I've been very happy with it since. I wanted to balance the reviews for this, because 1 was a Dell customer service review, which has nothing to do with the product. It's capacity is way above what an average Internet/Word user would need, and the weight considering the size is lighter than most 17+ inch screens.

Dell D630 + Windows 7 (Notebook Laptop Computer) 2.0 GHz CPU | 2 GB of Ram | 60 GB Hard Drive

Dell D630 + Windows 7 2.0 GHz CPU | 2 GB of Ram | 60 GB Hard DriveEverything was as advertised, except the hard drive was larger (not complaining!). Shipped quickly. It looks almost brand new. Everything works. Very good battery life. Faster than I expected with only 2MB of RAM. I figured I'd buy more RAM given that it's Windows 7, but I probably won't need to. Great value for the price.

For only $269.99 this is a great computer that does everything you need it to do. Have in mind that the flashplayer doesn't work until you download it. This is very easy since links to download automatically appear.

I was hesitant to buy a refurbished product but so far I'm very happy with the deal I got (about $225) for the Dell Latitude D630. The top was a little scratched and the corner of the lid has a little piece broken off of it but I don't really mind. I didn't try using the DVD player for a few weeks and when I did, discovered it wasn't working. I contacted the seller today who promptly decided to send me a replacement drive. The included software is of questionable value. I've had a lot of compatibility issues b/t Microsoft Office and the installed Apache Open Office. Also, the installed security software is only good for 30 days so you'll need to purchase or see if you can find a decent free one. Still, I'm quite happy with this purchase and the integrity of the seller.

The laptop was a gift for my husband. I couldn't afford a lot and the price was right. It arrived well before the estimated date and shipped priority although I did not order fast shipping. I had written the seller prior to ordering and was promised a battery that would last 1-1/2 hours. This one lasts over 3 1/2! We are very happy with this purchase and have recommended the seller to others.

Dell Inspiron 17R i17R-1842sLV 17.3-Inch Laptop Core i7-3632QM 2.2GHz 8GB 1TB DVD±RW GeForce 1GB

Dell Inspiron 17R i17R-1842sLV 17.3-Inch Laptop Core i7-3632QM 2.2GHz 8GB 1TB DVD±RW GeForce 1GBAWESOME! Of all the laptops I've had, this is by far the best. It's well constructed and sturdy. Our almost 80 pound dog walked across the screen and there was NO damage. This Dell runs Quiet....no whirring wizzing or loud fan sound. The keyboard is very quiet when I am using it: no click-clack, plus the number pad is a great addtion. The on/off key is well placed and the mouse works well.

Now, Windows 8: It is great once it is set-up to your liking. It has an Apple-esque feel to it, but not quite there yet. If you do not like the new Windows, you can always convert back to the regular old-school Icons by hitting the desk top key.

This Dell has been a very good purchase for me. Dude, I got a Dell!!!

I love the computer. Not sure how I feel about windows 8 yet. That will hopefully get better in time. Thank you very much.

HP ENVY dv7t-7200 Quad Edition 17.3" Laptop - 3rd generation Intel Quad Core i7-3630QM Processor /

HP ENVY dv7t-7200 Quad Edition 17.3' Laptop - 3rd generation Intel Quad Core i7-3630QM Processor / 8GB Memory / 750GB Hard Drive / Bluray Player / 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M / Beats Audio / Windows 8 / backlit keyboardLack of Service from the seller. Laptop arrived damaged and when I contacted the seller he said I would be issued a partial refund of the money I paid. I tried all possible to obtain a refund. The seller lied and no replacement of replacement. I gave this seller 1000.00, however I only received 750.00. This seller was stealing from me and did not practice good customer service. A full refund or a replacement should of been offered. Neither was provided. The problem that laptop had was the CD tray did not open and was stuck. I am a computer technician and I explained that I was knowledgeable in all aspects of a computer. Be careful, this seller does not stand his products. The box it came in was not HP's box. It arrived in a plain box with no indication if was sold by an authorized dealer. Be careful since you are not guaranteed service for a computer which is damaged.

Well it's been two months since my HP ENVY dv7 has arrived. I have used it everyday and I LOVE it. At first I thought that Windows 8 would be difficult to get used to but this is not the case. The first thing you notice that is different about this laptop is that it uses fingerprint technology to log onto all of your sites. You just swipe your forefinger over the reader and you are logged on instantaneously. This is a great convenience and time saver. (Sometimes it does take two or three repeated swipes if your finger is not placed just right over the reader. No big deal.)

I have the backlit model and it's great if I'm sitting in bed at night with the lights out. Also, the computer boots up really fast. In less than a minute, you can begin working. So different from my desktop which loads and loads and loads. It takes forever before you can open a browser.

This replaces my Dell laptop which I had for a few years. It had an intel i5 processor. From a few months after I got it, the screen began to flicker and go grey and I would have to reboot it. So far, after two months of use, I have had not one issue with this laptop.

Lenovo 438343U 15.6" AMD E-300 Dual Core Laptop with Windows 7

Lenovo 438343U 15.6' AMD E-300 Dual Core Laptop with Windows 7This model is made by Lenovo specifically for Best Buy's Black Friday 2011 sale. It was sold for $178 and many people thought they got a great deal. After all, a laptop with OK specs from a name brand manufacturer. What they didn't realize is that Lenovo stripped as much as they could off the laptop to meet this price point. That includes replacing the stereo speakers with a cheap monaural speaker. Yes, the sound comes out of only one side of this laptop. This does not affect people who listen through headphones, it's just that this fact was mentioned nowhere in the technical specs nor the Black Friday ad.

For anyone looking to upgrade RAM, this also only has 1 DIMM slot, so the max you can go is 4GB on a single DDR3 stick. If you're fine with the above, go ahead and make the purchase. But buyers must be aware of these facts.

I bought this at Best Buy and think its a pretty decent computer. The standout feature was the price though. Good PC for basic computer users. Good for browsing the web, email, and occasionally creating documents.

Like the other review states this model was specifically manufactured for Best Buy's Black Friday promotion and does have some limitations.

Among the Cons:

Only has 1 speaker (mono sound).

Only has 1 RAM tray, max at 4GB on one ram stick.

No memory card reader

No HDMI

Case feels a little like cheap plastic.

Hard Drive partitioning is kinda weird. There is a Drive 'C' with about 180gb and a Drive 'D' (Lenovo) with 30gb (about 26gb of which are free; applications and drivers can be found here).

The Processor AMD E-300 is both a PRO and CON. It is a very basic processor with low CPU Benchmark results.

The Good:

THE PRICE! $180 @ BB on Black Friday.

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit (again you can only install 4gb of ram though)

Webcam; with face recognition login software (your webcam will recognize you and automatically log you into Windows).

Microsoft Office 2010 Starter (Functional Word, and Excel with ads included; no PowerPoint, Outlook though... that's what OpenOffice/LibreOffice is for)

Lightweight

Good keyboard and track pad

Good battery life, and battery management software

Very little bloatware (some programs don't come pre-installed; rather you need to install them from the Lenovo Drive, in the 'Apps' folder).

Small and compact AC adapter

Google Chrome pre-installed faster than Internet Explorer

Good HD graphics, because of graphics card

Processor (Con and Pro): It gets the job done!

Overall:

Great computer, for the price, for basic computer users. I got this for my mother who uses the computer pretty much only to surf the internet, and check email. For the price, and what she'll use it for its perfect. Again, for basic everyday computing this laptop will get the job done, but not for those with high resource needs (specially because of RAM/Processor limitations).

Buy Lenovo 438343U 15.6" AMD E-300 Dual Core Laptop with Windows 7 Now

First let me say that this laptop and it's reviews are going to be far more subjective than most other laptop reviews. Mainly due to the E-300 CPU.

One's opinion of it will REALLY depend their usage requirements:

what you plan to use it for

what software you plan to run on it

will this be your first laptop

are you just going to use it for web surfing and/or checking email

do you normally have just a couple windows open when using a laptop OR are you the type of person that must have 25 windows open, with 25 apps running simultaneously

Myself, my only other "personally owned", "portable" computing device has been an emachine netbook, purchased two years ago.

However, I have owned over 10 desktop PCs over the past 15 years.

So when I compare this unit's functionality to my netbook, the experience is the same and/or better than the netbook.

When comparing to one of my quad-core desktop computers, the performance gap widens quite a bit.

[Note: The performance index I got from this Lenovo was 3.4; due to the CPU].

Pros:

the screen is thinner than my netbook (and laptops I use at work). Yet the screen is large enough to view most anything I've looked at while using the unit.

6 cell battery. Longer running time than my netbook with it's measily 3 cell.

built-in optical device (my netbook requires that I carry a slim line external DVD drive).

so far it has been adequate for light usage: surfing and email

Cons:

performance index is lower than other computers I have used.

one memory socket that requires removing the existing So-dimm module and replacing with a larger one.

no HDMI (I knew this going in)

one speaker (as noted by another reviewer).

If you plan to buy one, I'd suggest trying to find a computer on display somewhere which uses the E-300 CPU. That way you can test drive to get some idea of how it might work out for you.

For some people on a budget, they might be able to forgive it's slower speed.

If you currently have an AMD quad core computer and you want this as a new laptop, more than likely you will be quite irritated by the slower speed than what a quad core runs at.

If you just need something to check email and web surf while away from home, it might work out fine.

Lenovo® IdeaPad® Z570 (1024-3VU) Laptop Computer With 15.6" LED-Backlit Screen & 2nd Gen Intel®

Lenovo® IdeaPad® Z570 Laptop Computer With 15.6' LED-Backlit Screen & 2nd Gen Intel® CoreTM i3-2310M Processor With Turbo Boost 2.0I needed a new laptop because my Dell Inspiron kind of died so, a friend recommended Lenovo. I am not at all disappointed! The physical make of the laptop is much better than my Dell. It feels much more durable, like actual metal! The Dell was all plastic (hence why the hinge broke off). Also, it is a bit lighter too, even though its more durable. More portable, too (nothing like a netbook though). The keyboard is NICE!!! It has a full numeric keypad which is great because I have many numeric login usernames/passwords. The keyboard does resemble an Apple keyboard (chiclet keys) but there are no complaints here, LOVE IT! The Trackpad is SO much better than my Dell, its textured! Its sensitive when you mean to scroll, or move your mouse around but not when you're just typing and your hand hits and the mouse goes who knows where! The old laptop would do that all the time, bought a wireless mouse and it helped. Have not used the wireless mouse on my Lenovo YET! It does come with Windows 7 Home Premium and a lot of unecessary applications installed at first, but it doesn't take long to unistall these. I have read that some people were hitting NumLock and the Arrow key instead of Backspace and Shift because they were smaller buttons than other keyboards...it just needs some adjusting to like any new piece of equipment. Another thing is that some have been complaining that you don't know when NumLock or CapsLock is on because there are no lights for them. Yes there are, they are near the power button. They are a bit small but use your eyes. The display is AMAZING! I have the brightness turned down almost as far as it will go and its as bright as the old Dell when it was turned all the way up (if not brighter)!! I haven't tried it outside yet to see what the display looks like outside because I intend on treating this laptop as my baby. Speakers: PERFECT! The old Dell had to have the volume turned up to the max and it was still difficult to hear. New, shiny Lenovo speakers are set at 10% and its louder than the sad Dell. It has 3 USB ports (just enough), HDMI (for sharing to a TV), ethernet port, and SATA USB. The pictures are a bit misleading, the laptop is almost a mocha color which is a nice change from black or white. It does get some fingerprints on the top, outside but nothing a shirttail won't fix. Battery life: WOW! I unplugged it about 45 minutes ago to start writing this review and the status is 83% & 4.5 hourse remaining. I have several internet windows running, an Instant Messaging program, and a large PowerPoint presentation. I haven't seen anything that can beat that yet!

As a student, I mainly need a computer for documents, presentations, a LOT of music and pictures. This, by far, exceeds my needs but I got it on sale so I couldn't pass it up! If you're looking for portability, battery life, fast processor, amazing display and great speakers, THIS is the computer to get! It might be a bit pricier but sometimes, you get what you pay for....

Very nice machine. Got it at office depot in 3days for $430...nice, fast, decent build. Exactly what I wanted for a realistic price. The other funny thing besides it saying it has turbo boost , which I can't find any info anywhere for an i3, is that it was suppose to come in silver. It is like a gunmetal color, not even close to silver, since I like this color better it works out great! I'm very happy 4 days in

HP Pavilion DV7T DV7 Laptop / Intel CoreTM i5-2430M Processor/ USB 3.0 / 17.3" HD Display / 6GB Mem

HP Pavilion DV7T DV7 Laptop / Intel CoreTM i5-2430M Processor/ USB 3.0 / 17.3' HD Display / 6GB Memory / 640GB Hard Drive / Blu-Ray / 1Gb AMD VideoCard / FingerReader / 2 Year Warranty - Dark UmberThis is a great laptop for the price and Amazon has great customer service. It is fast and the only thing I did to make it faster, is installed an SSD hard drive and am using it as my primary drive and using the hard drive that came with it, as my secondary hard drive. The only negative thing that people should know is that it only comes with a 2.4GHz Wireless card and I would like to have a 5GHz card which is 8 X faster. When I spoke to HP about upgrading to a 5Ghz card they sent me a link to an outside vendor and I purchased that card. After installing it, it came up with a BIOS error stating that it was not an HP supported product. I just purchased another card directly from the HP site and I am hoping it will work.

We use this laptop primarily for photos, email, facebook, Sykpe and movies. The 17.3 inch HD display, Blu-Ray player, i5 processor, and 4 USB ports make this a great laptop for our needs. We also love the finger print reader for signing on quickly.

On the downside, there is no indication of which USB ports are 3.0 and which are slower 2.0 and HP manuals are no help since they have so many laptops that are configured differently. The other downside is that the battery that comes with the laptop doesn't hold a charge for more than 2 to 3 hours, so we are looking for a 12-cell battery that will last longer.
