This is the perfect laptop for gammers (or anyone). It has a massive storage (2tb) and is preloaded with windows 8. What I love about it most is the fingerprint scanner! No more hassles of signing on, just slide your finger across the scanner and you are logged in! It is super fast and the screen is big and so clear! I was leery of the windows 8, but I am finding that it will do everything that 7 does, plus so much more. This is a bargain for the price!
If I take this laptop to Brazil, south America, does the guarantee cover it there? If we find a problem with it within a year, is there customer assistance? Thank you.
I've only had this for 24 hours but it seems like a really nice laptop. Was looking at buying a netbook to access internet while traveling but found this and it does that plus allow me to view dvds and download stuff. Not much on here in terms of programs only a basic word and excel. No powerpoint. Can buy the full Microsoft office for $110, no thanks. Has Windows 7, internet explorer, etc. Have been connected to wifi in rv park and I'm getting fairly fast speeds. With this large screen and keyboard and for only about $50 more than a netbook this is definately a good choice for me. Found this a Wallyworld for $298.

Put simply this laptop is excellent... The only thing that is not amazing is the Intel onboard video... which I would say is adequate... but all other aspects are surprisingly great for the price... It does play Netflix and they like perfectly fine... all components rate fairly high on the Windows User Experience rating system... except the video which is sort of in the middle of the rating... So unless you want serious games this computer is great... Long battery life with the 6-cell battery. My desk top died and went to Walmart to buy another desktop a friend suggested a lap top. This is the first laptop I have ever baught or used. I take it everywhere I go just about now. It was so easy to set up and use. I did not ever think I would get a lap top but I am so glad I got this one. I really really like this one. This computer does a great job on basic functions. It is pretty good for multimedia and has a decent battery life. The word processing functions are great and the computer is sleek and attractive. It doesn't weigh very much and that makes in convenient to travel with. The keyboard is sturdy and well built and the touch pad for the mouse is not overly sensitive so you don't make too many mistakes by accidentally bumping it. The screen is clear and movies look great on it. The sound is loud and clear and it has just enough ports to make it convenient for all types of functions. I have enjoyed using this computer for the past year and would recommend it for anyone looking for a decent laptop at a reduced price.

The computer itself is good. finger print shows easily. If you are looking to install engineering programs on it it is better off buy the HP Pavilion Dv7-2270us because it got the 7200 rpm HD. First, let me qualify by saying 1) My experience with the HP Pavilion dv7 might be a fluke, and 2) Amazon doesn't seem to sell my exact model number, so I'm injecting the review here, because HP deserves it. My specific laptop is closely related to the one advertised on this page.
I can't say much for the OS -my computer use is pretty basic, so memory, RAM, and processing are fine. But I've always taken the keyboard for granted. That is until this keyboard. You can sometimes press the outer edge of a key (while still executing the keystroke), without the letter registering. The result -a lot of non-user-error misspellings. I'm disappointed in this purchase because of that and wouldn't recommend it.

I bought this laptop for my mother. It arrived within 2 days of my purchase which has given me plenty of time to set it up for her to be able to jump right in for christmas.
I ordered for the S56CA after working with a lower version; the UX31A I refer to as the Asus i5. The lower version could compete very well with the MacBook Air I bought at the same time. So when we needed a new computer in the office I naturally went for the higher version. The speed is fine but I was surprised with how basic the S56CA is. To start with since I joined the Mac family I had got used to back lit key boards and since the Asus i5 had it, I assumed that the i7 will have it. No it does not come with it. To make matters worse, the CAPS Lock does not light up when you are using it. Imagine checking every time you use it to make sure that you are in caps. I knew that there are still makes that miss out on such features but they do not cost this much. My story ends rather badly. The colleague who would have used the i7 rejected it on the basis of the absence of a backlit key board. So I gave away my more user friendly i5. Of course, if I was living in the States, I would have traded back the i7 for the i5 just to enjoy a lighting key board and keys.
I have owned this laptop for nearly a month, using it an average of 5 hours a day. I use it for editing and filing photographs, managing our home network, using that network to do professional and financial and personal management and data handling tasks, emails, internet work, listening to music...everything i do on my larger desktop. I love this computer and I think Windows 8 is a hoot and I don't even own a smart phone or tablet. I love Windows 8's new interface, the apps, the ease of moving back and forth between the Metro screen apps and my usual Windows 7 desktop (which is set up just like my larger PC). Windows 8's way of searching and accessing apps, programs, and data is a wonderful improvement.

I am using the T60P using windows XP Pro (today's year is 2012) to write this review using MS OFFICE 2003 and connected to the web via Google Chrome. I have had no issues beyond only one with this Lenovo (IBM) ThinkPad: it is a Centrino Due. A slower processor that I have not found to run hot, and it has not crashed either. All and all it is a good machine. The battery has lasted up 3.5 hours with normal use of MS office and desktop publishing. Not unexpected considering the age of which this computer came out. That also can be solved by purchasing any one of the many extended battery methods on the market. I do not use the Lenovo T60P to travel much away from home, I bought the Lenovo X41 for this and an extended battery that last me a good six hours of MS Office time (the X41 cannot handle desktop publishing but I don't require that when I am away from home--who does?). For me, whatever the subject, it has always been "the right tool for the right job!"
I bougth it, and im happy with it, is a great laptop, has very good performace reached with its 4 procesors, the programs runs with a very good performance, and the disk space is acceptable, the games see just fine even with the intel hd chipset, the only bad point is the battery life, it takes almost 3 hours to go down. Conclution an excelent laptop.
I couldn't agree more with the other reviews regarding the deceptiveness of some outfits in this case Tiger in selling refurbished items as new. I felt that it was important, however, to review the product and not the vendor. I've used the D610 professionally with great success for several years. I was so pleased with its performance that I bought one for my personal use as well as two more for my in-laws. I bought all three as refurbs but I knew what I was getting and the price was unbeatable at approximately $250.00 each. If you're a wannabe geek such as I am, you can easily find all of the service literature necessary to service the D610 yourself. I've never had to service any of the three that I bought, but I did expand the memory in all of them. I was pleased with how easy the upgrade was, how well engineered the product is, and how clear the service literature is as well. I bought a hard drive caddy and an additional 80GB HD to fit in the CD port, so now I have 2 bootable HDs and a ton of storage. If forced to search for a negative, the only thing I can come up with is the click action of the pointing device. The feel is a bit stiff and the sound is somewhat irritating. That said, if the pointing device ever became bothersome enough a USB mouse could be purchased for a couple of bucks. I was looking for another D610 to buy for my wife when I stumbled upon these reviews so I felt compelled to put in my two cents worth. Good luck with whatever product you choose!
