Toshiba Satellite L745D-S4230 14.0-Inch LED Laptop (Brushed Aluminum Blue)

Decent laptop with medium gaming capability. Can handle most of the games at low detail. Tested it with running firefox (10 tabs), VLC (HD movie), Virus Scan and USB copying parallely. Was able to handle the load without a hitch.

Pros:

1. Lightweight

2. Screen is very crisp

3. Windows score is good (5.8)

4. Has the option of USB enabled ports even in sleep/hibernate mode.

Cons:

1. The touchpad buttons are very stiff. Difficult to press sometimes.

2. Fan starts making noise once you hit 100% cpu usage.

3. Toshiba brand HDD is pathetic, need to replace with other brands HDD or SSD.

4. No button for volume changes which is uncomfortable sometimes.

Definitely recomend this for any non-gamer.

Got it for $430 which is a good price i guess. Above $450 this laptop doesn't make sense as there are lot of other options with better processor and specs.

I am an IT guy and I purchased 3 of these for Executives in my company on 7/6/12.

2 of them are still working with no issues.

The hard drive died in one of them today. If you scroll about halfway down the page you will notice that this product comes with a 1 year limited hardware warranty.

What they don't mention is that the warranty expires 1 year from the date of manufacture, not the date of purchase. My 1 year warranty expired 13 days after I purchased the computer.

On top of not honoring their warranty, the first customer service agent I spoke to actually hung up on me.

Come on Amazon, you are better than this. Saying this has a 1 year warranty on it is just false advertising.

I just need to give $40 for a new hard drive and I can fix this myself. Other people might not be so lucky.

This computer is a good product, but Toshiba has bad customer service. I will think twice about buying any more Toshiba products in the future and so should you.

It is useful, light weight and small enough to travel with it. With a good speed internet connection I am able to watch with excellent quality videos, movies and TV series. As well, gaming is a new experience for me with this laptop.Windows and Office runs very well in this Laptop, makes the work very fast and easy. Speakers are not so good so if you need or want to listen intall an exteral system or headphones.

I previously bought a Toshiba Laptop 5 years ago and surprisingly still running very well for basic functions with 1GB. Now I use both for different purpose.

it's a great computer, not too big, very light and you won't ever feel like you're carrying a computer on your bag.

Not to much volume on the speakers, which kind of disappointed me considering that with those speakers it could go much louder.

the keyboard is nice, also fast, and it has this thing that helps the environment

I got this for the Wife and she loves it.

She did not want to lug around a full-size laptop, so this 14-inch model is perfect for her.

The new Fusion chips from AMD are really great, the A6 an A8 much more so than the A4. This one has the A6 and will do anything we throw at it. It plays all her STEAM games without any problems. (mostly Defense Grid)

The wireless antenna seems to have really good range and the keyboard feels good also.

My only con is the kinda tinny sounding speakers, but the Wife normally uses earbuds anyways.

The factory 640GB HDD is really too big for our normal useage and is kinda slow being 5400rpm. I plan on swapping it out with a 128Gb SSD as soon as I catch a good sale.

###BTW The volume control IS on the keyboard, you just have to use the FN+3 or FN+4 keys.
